Hotel was central and staff polite and attentive without being overbearing. Parking on site was easy to access and no issues validating our vehicle. The building itself is an old building which is what was expected and certainly had some character. Rooms were spotlessly clean and had everything required despite being a little dated, but then we did not expect a modern hotel. Free wifi throughout the building. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and set us up for the day. Evening meal was also of an excellent standard and the range of dishes available would cater for everyone. The bar attached to the hotel was friendly, comfortable and very reasonably priced, what more do you need. We would certainly book again of we were staying in the area.

Nothing, if you book knowing the hotel is not a modern new build and accept this fact, there is nothing to dislike. If I was to be highly critical the TV in the room was situated in an odd position and rather small. But we didn't go to watch TV.

Lovely friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. Dinner in the bar was great too - it doesn't have a gastropub feel to it, but the food was up there with the best I've had in a lot of places with fancier decor. If like us you're arriving by bike they have a large garage area to store them securely. They also offered charging facilities for e-bikes.

It's an old building with a few quirks like a slightly awkward bathroom layout and uneven floors, but if you're happy with a few imperfections this is a great place to stay.

I liked mostly everything about my stay. Coldstream is historic and the authenticity of the hotel was perfectly aligned with the town. My room was homely. Yes, a few things were dated but that just added to the charm of it. The staff were excellent, very friendly. The breakfast cooked to perfection. I loved looking in and seeing an over run office. The staff were more concerned about the welcome help and friendliness they showed clientele, something you just do not get nowadays in more modern establishments. The room needed a full length mirror, something I do think is a must for visitors. They did offer for me to go to room 11 to use that one once I was dressed. The better option would have been to supply one upon request. In a world where wokeness and an expectation to upgrade and have perfection for as cheap as possible has reached ridiculous limits, I'm so glad to have come across this wonderful gem in the heart of the Coldstream high street. I'll definitely return.

Just a full length mirror in the room would have made my stay perfect but it also did not stop me enjoying the homely experience.

Comfortable bed and very good breakfast. Excellent value. Could have charged an extra £10 for the dog (everyone else does)

Just details. First thing you see is a messy office. The room information was tatty ( just needs a cheap Amazon laminator) A bit of info about the area would have been good. Banged my leg on the sharp edge of the bed. Kettle has to be placed on the floor to reach the plug....Really just easily fixed details

I just don't understand why when you stay two nights your room isn't given a freshen up? Covid was years ago its not nice coming back to unmade beds and dirty cups etc etc Maybe you have to ask but since Covid this has bugged the life out of me tbh

Breakfast was excellent. Beers in the bar were well kept. The locals were very friendly and the owner and staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The room was a little basic but spotlessly clean and there was more than enough coffee, tea etc provided. Also plenty of soaps and shampoos and nice soft towels. The shower worked well and there were no problems with the tv. A decent size car park and in the centre of the high street amenities,

The room was a bit spartan, A rug or two on the bare wood floor would not go amiss. There is no heater in the shower room/WC.

Don’t be put off from the outside…this place is fabulous, because it is made by the staff. Robin and the lovely lady who cooked our meals (sorry- didn’t get your name) could not do enough for us. And the bar is full of locals who were also quite welcoming. It is very good value for money and the food was excellent.

There was glass on the floor of the bike store but they are doing a lot of refurb so that’s probably why.

Breakfast choice, quality and service was excellent. Staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Good to have a lively pub restaurant on site.

Not everyone likes soft pillows so a choice of firmer pillows would help. The toilet paper was of the cheaper variety, these are things people notice so upping the quality would help with overall perception. The one bad thing was the room had an exposed electric cable connecting 2 sockets in the room, this I am sure is a no no in regulation terms, it would fail inspection.

We had an excellent huge evening meal in the pub part of the hotel. The breakfast in the morning was also a generous helping of a full house British breakfast. Parking adequate, friendly staff.

For the price, don't think we could ask for more. Would be nice to have two chairs in bedroom as there were two of us, but you seldom get such elsewhere.
