Love Britannia hotels mainly because the of the large rooms with high ceilings that give you a sense that you can breathe, unlike other hotel chains We have stayed in 4 other Britannia hotels before and they were all old Victorian buildings. We were a bit dubious about the Glasgow one when we saw the photos it was a 12-14 story building , definitely not Victorian. Still Britannia didn’t disappoint The room was spacious and the ceiling was still higher than expected. In our experience of the hotels we have stayed in we say. “Rule Britannia “ Almost forgot to mention very reasonable prices

The bar and restaurant weren’t open

Review of Z Hotel, Glasgow – August 2025 I first came across the Z Hotel chain back in 2021, during my time as a key worker in Cumbria. It stayed on my radar, and when I returned to Glasgow recently—this time as a survivor and advocate—I decided to book a stay. After having a stroke last year, I do my best to live life fully and independently. Before arriving, I emailed the hotel to explain my accessibility needs. From the moment I reached the entrance, I was able to use my mobility scooter with ease. I was warmly welcomed by the assistant manager and other staff members, who treated me with dignity and care. My room was spacious, fully accessible, and had plenty of room for my scooter 🛵. The bed was massive, and the décor was modern and calming—easy on the eye after a long journey. One thing to note: the room didn’t have a window, but the hotel makes that clear when booking. Within 20 minutes, I had a cup of tea in hand and BBC Radio 2 playing softly in the background. Honestly, I didn’t miss the window at all. I had plans to visit my brother, and the accessible taxi service made the drive through Glasgow smooth and enjoyable. No sightings of Batman or Spiderman yet—but I did meet a cheerful member of the Meet and Greet team nicknamed “Spidie” 🕸. That gave me a wee chuckle. All in all, the Z Hotel offered comfort, accessibility, and kindness—three things that matter deeply when travelling with mobility challenges. It was more than just a stay; it was a reminder that thoughtful hospitality still exists.

What I didn’t like (but with a smile): Honestly, two days just wasn’t long enough. I felt so welcomed and comfortable that leaving came too soon. On my first night, I came down to reception feeling a little overwhelmed, and a kind staff member made me a calming cup of tea and helped me back to my room. I wish I could remember their name—it bothers me when I forget someone who showed such care. That moment meant a lot.

Stayed for Valentine's Weekend, at a bargain price of £138, £200 cheaper than a nearby Travelodge! Hotel is easy to locate once you get your bearings: look out for the Beresford Building on Sauchiehall Street, cross the road and the hotel is a short walk down from there. Excellent staff at reception, especially Kate and Monika: lovely to chat to and gave me plentiful coffee, milk and sugar when needed.

Observations not criticisms: yes the hotel is dated, looks like same furniture from when it was the Premier Inn, but the room was clean and the furniture functional, and that is all that matters. Yes, the firealarm went off twice, BUT that was a positive. The staff took the alert seriously, called the fire brigade and evacuated the hotel until safe to go back in: safety first.

Location was exactly what we needed - right next to the train station which was great for the concert we were attending that evening. The car park was also next door which was very handy and gave us peace of mind the car was safe during our stay The staff were very helpful, friendly and approachable and knowledgeable. They made us feel comfortable and welcome and like nothing was too much trouble during our stay

The car park fee - hotel advised us it was £8.00 for 24hours. We went into the car park and advised by the ticket it was £15.50 even after the ticket was validated in the hotel. The staff at the car park then said it was £12.00 we said it was supposed to be £8.00 and he said the staff at the hotel had it wrong

The location was perfect for what we were looking for. It wasn't the absolute most luxurious hotel, but it exceeded our requirements and your staff were absolutely lovely. Really helpful and friendly. Your breakfast was ok, definitely edible, but could have done to have been a bit warmer. You were the cheapest hotel in the vicinity and was perfect location for the show we were going to see. Will definitely come back if I ever book for the King's Theatre again. Love Scotland, love Glasgow, and really enjoyed my stay with you. Thanks a million.

Breakfast was warm, rather than hot, didn't feel as fresh as it could have been - but definitely edible and you had friendly staff who were happy to help. The key card to our hotel room was temperamental but that could have been me - my 13 year old son managed to make it work!

Hotel was one of the most quietest l have ever stayed in! Yes it was busy, yes it was August… but no noise whatsoever during the night. The reception was super efficient too! My only complaint was internet a tad slow, also not enough teabags, coffee in the room. But heyho… it was peaceful at night and that’s more important! I’ll be back!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍👍👍

More teabags and coffee in room. Internet was a tad slow at times!

Really pleasant staff - and great to have a real person on the reception desk at all times. The view from our room (on the 12th floor) was fantastic. If you want to avoid road noise, go high - we were asked on booking in whether we'd prefer a higher or lower room, which was a nice touch and meant we got the room that suited us.

Really nothing - the furnishings aren't brand new, but it's all clean, comfortable and functional. If doing a little less refurbishment helps to keep the price down for this great location, that's fine by me!

Staff were amazing. So helpful and really friendly without exception. We were there for 4 days so met lots of different staff and all were excellent. The room was also big and comfortable and shower was powerful enough.

Would have liked a phone in the room to be able to call reception and would have preferred a mirror above the dresser to sit and do my hair/makeup rather than the massive TV (not necessary for a hotel room where you don’t spend much time)

Front desk staff upon arrival, really lovely lady who unfortunately did not get the name of, we were give choice of floor which was fab. We chose the top floor, fantastic views over the city which were stunning at night. Room was spacious and clean, smelled great too. Overall there is a need for an update to decor and furniture, however for the cost and the welcoming atmosphere, it was worth it.

The double bed was two singles together with a very obvious and uncomfortable dip in the middle. There was only one bedside table, we ended up using a chair. There was a fan running permanently in the bathroom, it was rather loud but with the bathroom door closed wasn't too bad. It still disturbed our sleep unfortunately.

Fantastic view, very friendly staff. I had had to walk out of the hotel I'd booked (long story, but the accommodation they had provided was not what I had signed up for and it wasn't possible for me to access it). The Britannia staff, at 10.55pm, took pity on me, sorted me out a lovely room, and were so kind and friendly that I would happily stay there again

The hotel is a little faded and needs a refurbishment, but it's perfectly fine.
