The location is fabulous, right in the middle of town with an amazing long garden at the back, going right down to the Thames. The courtyard rooms are very comfortable and easy to access. Free and plentiful car parking, with an option to leave the car there for a while on the day of departure whilst still in town. The hotel was very reasonably priced for the area too.

For us, both being light sleepers, only that there was some traffic noise in our room overlooking the main road. This is no real fault of the hotel, as I understand it is a listed building and so difficult to change the external set up. Even then though, Simon was very friendly and willing to go out of his way to help arrange a swift move for us to a courtyard room.

The food was all brilliant, both breakfast and dinner. The room was perfect for our needs - we had a room in the courtyard with a level-access shower to suit my limited-mobility requirements. The staff were all friendly, helpful and professional. We will definitely book to stay there again.

We can't really say we 'disliked' anything. There were hard-to-reach places in the room that were a bit dusty, but as they were hard-to-reach places, it didn't affect us. The windows were left open in between bookings which meant that bugs got into the room - some may not like this, but I liked that the room was 'aired' and you can't help nature!

Hotel position excellent. Room comfortable, nice view. Friendliness of staff much appreciated. Had dinner both evenings, deliciously prepared. Enjoyed the historical ambience of the place.

Stairs rather steep at one point, not so easy for older folk as us. I'd booked and settled via Booking.com on a breakfast included rate. The hotel staff at check out charged for breakfasts, which I did query, but on the spot I couldn't be sure if my booking had included breakfast or not. I've written to hotel to get this misunderstanding sorted out, hopefully to my satisfaction

Attractive old coaching inn, nicely renovated with lovely dining room. Good position near the river and modern extra accommodation made sympathetically

Latest check-in said to be 8pm, too early for us so we had to phone to check this before we booked/ unnecessary hassle as it was perfectly ok to check in later. But they nearly lost our booking because of that. Nice room but the shower cabinet was too small and the shower was too powerful- very difficult to use.

The dinners at The New Inn were very good indeed. There was a large and varied choice on the menu as well as a couple of excellent specials. Portions were large and the quality of the fare was super. Additionally the prices were very reasonable. We stayed there three nights and ate in the hotel each night. Usually we eat out at other venues whilst on a break, but because the food was so good and there was plenty of choice we decided to dine at The New Inn each evening. Staff were very friendly and helpful too.

The choice of beers was disappointing - London Pride or Doom Bar, all a bit pub standard. I was looking forward to a local ale or bitter but alas no luck. In fairness though the London Pride was well kept.

A warm welcome from lovely, friendly staff. Our room inside the hotel was huge, and nice and clean. A lovely evening meal and a good nights sleep.

It's a pity that breakfast was so meagre and did not seem like value for money. One butter between the two of us and three cheap portions of marmalade or jam in little plastic tubs. One slice of cheap toasted bread under my scrambled egg, served on a cold, greasy plate. So disappointing. Also, please clean the windows as it was difficult to see through the dirt and also think about providing table clothes in the dining room to add a little bit of class.

We arrived early but the hotel staff were great and allowed us to get into the room. The weather was awful and so we stayed in the bar and room for most of the rest of the day, Food and drinks were reasonably priced and the bar meals great value. Breakfast was served and ordered from a menu - again, great value and good timings for an early start.

Room was quite small and as we were on a walking holiday, we needed a bit of space for our luggage and wet clothes, but the staff and their help made up for this minor inconvenience

1. Liked the room at ground level which was quiet despite being close to hotel pub. 2. Sizeable room with comfortable beds.

1. After cleaner inserted new plastic bag into the waste basket, they left the old plastic bag in the room. 2.Towels not changed two nights in a row, perhaps because I had left used ones on the floor and not in the shower compartment as requested. Anyway, I managed to collect fresh ones from the reception counter when I got back at night.

Excellent place to stay ,staff were so good with our dog , set a table in the bar area for the dog. Food over the two days was first class. Special board was great too. The staff are a credit to the owner/ manager. Especially the guy behind the bar. Will be back.

Being charged 20 pound for a dog to stay was alway charged for the extra deep clean which I don't mind , but in this case rubbish was still behind bin and dust in wardrobe.

An effort was made to comply with my special request for breakfast BUT - see below. The room was fine but a few specific niggles - see below. Two dinners I had in the restaurant were very good.

"MASSES of fresh fruit with Greek Yoghourt"? Loads of lovely yoghourt but about 20 grapes and a couple of strawberries? - Masses? A bit mean I thought! I suppose I should have listed my normal serving : A small banana, a small pear, a kiwi fruit, 110 gm grapes (plus some grapefruit and prunes, if available as in some hotels) The room: the lighting was wired up wrongly(?) Whichever switch was operated ALL the lights (both bedsides plus ceiling) were ON or OFF. Also the washbasin plug operation needed adjusting to actually allow the basin to empty!
