Friendly staff. Room was spacy enough. Comfortable beds. Window you can open with view ln the garden en fields. Very good food. Breakfast so so but the dinner was lovely.

Although bathroom was spacious enough bit small getting in the shower with the sink just before it. I knew that it was above a bar ofcourse so I expected some noise. But after a whole day travelling and beeing tired, music and people are not really helping in having an early night 😅 but all was quiet at midnight and then I slepped very wel in the big cumfy bed. Overal I was happy and I just put up with the noise cause I knew it was a pub.

A boy, what a find. A lovely country inn dating back to 1782 with staff almost as old. I joke, the staff were FABULOUS on BOTH my visits. Yes, I've stayed TWICE, so that is a recommendation in itself. I got such a WELCOME on my first visit, that I knew I would return when I was in the area. It seems to be that a LOT of people are regulars and on first name terms. On weekdays people on business use the rooms, so that indicates value for money. But the QUALITY is definitely there, both in the rooms and in the service provision. Try to arrive here in early evening an order a meal in the restaurant - if the weather is good you can eat or drink in the garden. When you wake up, breakfast will be cooked to your order

Despite miscommunication and not being booked into an accessible room, the landlady was absolutely amazing. She was genuinely apologetic, offered to take our bags up, show me to the room and make sure it would be appropriate. We received drinks on the house and amazing hospitality. Food was of great quality, efficient and delicious. The girls on the bar were friendly, approachable, professional. Nothing was too much for anyone who worked here.

Miscommunication when making requests however dealt with in a highly professional and positive way.

A warm welcome, a spotlessly clean and very comfortable room and excellent WiFi. The menu for dinner was varied and the food was excellent. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and served from 7am which was a bonus for me as I like to stay at pubs rather than hotels but that often means missing out on breakfast which is usually served a little later - but not here. All the staff I met were friendly and professional. Booked two more stays and looking forward to them!

Nothing! One of the best stays I have had in a long while (and I am away at least two nights a week most weeks for work purposes so have lots to compare the Star with)

Lovely friendly staff who looked after us very well. Very nice room, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The dinner and breakfast were very good - nice choices on the menu and good sized helpings!

The only downside for us was the lack of a quiet room for residents to chat. We used The Star to meet friends from Yorkshire as it's about halfway between us. The only place to sit is in the restaurant and bar, which were very busy when we arrived (on Saturday afternoon). We were lucky to find somewhere to sit but the wooden chairs were uncomfortable. I understand that all the space must be taken up by tables & chairs for eating & drinking....and, of course, in summer there would be space outside.

Only here for one night prior to a flight from East Midlands airport. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown straight to our room which was spacious and very clean and comfortable. There was complimentary water, tea coffee etc plus biscuits. Bathroom was also spacious and again very clean with a great shower and lovely toiletries provided. Our greeter said she would book a table for dinner for us when we enquired and the meal was lovely. A good choice of options and the deep fried lasagna was a revelation! The bed was a little firm for us but that's just personal preference. Breakfast next day was great, good portions and swift service. The airport was an easy 15 minute drive away making this the ideal pre flight hotel. Definitely recommend and would use again.

TV a little on the small side

It’s a small place that gave us the country home feel☺️. We had all we needed for our stay. The bed was comfortable and the food was good. All the staff members were so helpful and nice. It was easy to get an uber to take us to Loughborough university which was about 12 min drive away and we even went shopping. Thank you Leah and team for making our stay lovely.

Everything was nice

Great country pub with rooms, on arrival I lumped into the bar with my bags where there were several locals sat / stood having a beer and chatting, straight away I was advised where to go to check in by one of them while another said he'd just check the whereabouts of someone to check me in, I immediately felt welcome! Its nice to see that's there still local pubs like this out there! The room was great, very clean and well presented, good facilities, and a nice view of the rear gardens. Food was superb in the evening, as was the breakfast. Big mention to the staff, very friendly and helpful, this was a very pleasant stay. Good parking available too.

If I was to be uber picky, the TV in the room was a little small, but that's being very picky because it's the only thing I could thing of that I'd improve.

Property was well situated for our stay. Room was very comfortable, had everything we needed, including a fan! Had patio doors that we could exit, or just leave open for fresh air! The breakfast, which was included, was well worth it! Didn’t have an evening meal at the pub, which was a shame, as the menu looked very appetising, & reasonably priced! Staff very pleasant, friendly, & nothing was too much!

The Star was easy to locate. Close to location neede. Room was beautiful. Evening meal and breakfasts were delicious and great variety of choices. Really like the storage and kettle facilities. Great team all staff go above and beyond.

I was alittle unsettled first night as room close to door to accommodation area, just needs door catcher so door doesn't bang. As even I open and forgot to gentle close door to to stop it banging shut. Room upstairs could hear others using bathroom facilities and stutting thir blinds. Other than that all excellent.
