The location is astonishing. The walk around Ben Cruachan is amazing, and the inn is accessible by train. Having the pub and the shop within 100 meters meant we could arrive by train and do our whole trip without a car. The inn has excellent food and drink, too. The room was comfortable, and it was great having the self-catering facilities. Despite my quibbles below, I have already recommended this inn to several friends.

Quite a few details could be improved in the room. The lighting in the bedroom was bright, cold lighting, which meant we couldn't read in bed before sleep. The fire alarm was right by the bed, illuminated, and flashed all night. The fire alarm went off randomly three times. The slatted blind in our bedroom did not provide sufficient privacy. The main room could have used more shelves or an extra table. There were only four coat hangers in the cupboard. Each of these details is small, but they added up: the room felt designed for a one-night stay, not a longer trip. A tiny bit of extra care would go such a long way here.

Exceptional attention to detail in the room facilities, and (surprising, given what I had read in a previous review) the room size was more than adequate...in fact the ensuite was large with a lovely large modern shower enclosure. I liked the contemporary but comfortable feel of the whole place. Cleanliness was superb. Staff friendliness and helpfulness were exceptional. Very good evening meals and draught beers in the restaurant.

It was a pity no breakfasts were offered...even a DIY buffet/continental style breakfast is useful for those of us out walking all day...the local shop was inadequate for that purpose, despite advertising that they offered 'hot filled rolls' (they didn't).

We stayed in the chalets near the main restaurant, and they were very clean, spacious, modern, and comfortable. Basically no noise from the bar or the road, and a pleasant view out to the gardens and loch beyond. The bed was great, plenty of space if you wanted to use the tables or desks, close parking, and excellent shower/bathroom. We also ate at the restaurant and were totally blown away by the food: a really great selection and all delicious! Decent beer selection at the bar, and excellent service throughout. Will definitely be recommending and looking to return ourselves!

The WiFi was definitely temperamental. When it worked, it was very fast and completely stable. But every now and then it would just drop and then not come back for a while. To be fair, it's more than good enough for most holiday activities, and the Inn are clear that there can be issues, but if it was truly stable this would be an amazing remote work retreat as well.

I stayed in one of the apartments (suite 8) overlooking the loch. The apartment was spotless. Everything was provided... Microwave, cooker, dishes, cutlery, utensils, toaster, fridge. Everything was in pristine condition. Food in the inn was amazing and staff were really friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

Our stay on the lochs was absolutely delightful. The location was perfect, close to the picturesque Kilchurn Castle where you can also spot the highland cows. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our dog felt welcome, even offering a dog menu! The food was exceptional, and we enjoyed a tasty supper complete with a whiskey tasting that was perfect for the chilly Highlands weather. Overall, it was a wonderful stay with a warm, dog-friendly atmosphere, great food, and a beautiful location.

Great location, high quality food in the restaurant at the place, friendly staff. It's near very picturesque Kilchurn castle ruins (by car) and a magnifcent neogothic St Conans Church. The apartment was fine but a little lacking in the soul of the host (e.g. no shelves in the bathroom, it could use more space to unload luggage like cloat hangers, cupboard, shelf or something; a washing machine would be useful)

Well the only things that I find unpleasant is lack of privacy when you uncover the terrace doors, either the front or the rear ones, as there are other guests and staff walking around, and air circulation is so poor that it has to be opened from time to time (no windows other that the terrace doors).

Ideally located for exploring around Loch Awe and Oban area. Welcoming and well appointed inn with rooms attached. We had one of the garden rooms which allowed us to make breakfast and packed lunches for our trips out . Dinner in the Inn was very good and reasonably priced

This isn’t a criticism of the property but you do need to plan for breakfast and lunches . The inn doesn’t do breakfast though the nearby Loch Awe stores does have breakfast rolls

A 2 minute walk across road for a beautiful sunrise of the mountains and highlighting the Kilchurn Castle ruin. A good location for hiking adventures. Short drive to Oban area for day trip. Facility was all modern with no worry. Small store next door with some snacks, drinks, packaged food, (no fresh food ie. fruits veggies). Inn Restaurant was excellent food and service.

Restaurant menu was limited if dining more than one day. Choice was limited if your desire was to just want a burger or fish and chips or soup and sandwich. Wish I could have ordered from the kids menu.

Stayed in one of the cabins. View of the loche from the porch in the front. Lovely to sit there in the morning with coffee and listen to the chickens up the way. The staff were extremely friendly, helped us a lot with questions and directing us to hiking routes. The restaurant was comfortable and busy (with football on) and we had a great meal and a pint or two. There are several interesting sites around but highly recommend the tour into the hydro-electric power station hidden underneath the Ben Cruachan mountains! It's a brief tour but informative and fascinating.

A lovely hotel, bar and restaurant in a beautiful location. The Ben Cruachan hotel is in a quiet location just across from Loch Awe railway station (a stop on the West Highland Line to Oban), overlooking the loch and a short walk/drive from St.Conan’s Kirk (and a slightly longer journey to Kilchurn Castle). We were in the little apartments outside the main building, which were spacious, clean and well-equipped with a smart tv, kitchenette and plenty of storage. The bed was huge and very comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and modern with a large walk-in shower. The restaurant and bar is very cosy, and the food is absolutely excellent, 10 out of 10. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay and it was a lovely experience, would highly recommend if you’re in the area or want a quiet stay in a gorgeous place.
