The location is astonishing. The walk around Ben Cruachan is amazing, and the inn is accessible by train. Having the pub and the shop within 100 meters meant we could arrive by train and do our whole trip without a car. The inn has excellent food and drink, too. The room was comfortable, and it was great having the self-catering facilities. Despite my quibbles below, I have already recommended this inn to several friends.

Quite a few details could be improved in the room. The lighting in the bedroom was bright, cold lighting, which meant we couldn't read in bed before sleep. The fire alarm was right by the bed, illuminated, and flashed all night. The fire alarm went off randomly three times. The slatted blind in our bedroom did not provide sufficient privacy. The main room could have used more shelves or an extra table. There were only four coat hangers in the cupboard. Each of these details is small, but they added up: the room felt designed for a one-night stay, not a longer trip. A tiny bit of extra care would go such a long way here.

I stayed in one of the apartments (suite 8) overlooking the loch. The apartment was spotless. Everything was provided... Microwave, cooker, dishes, cutlery, utensils, toaster, fridge. Everything was in pristine condition. Food in the inn was amazing and staff were really friendly and helpful. Will definitely return.

Great location, high quality food in the restaurant at the place, friendly staff. It's near very picturesque Kilchurn castle ruins (by car) and a magnifcent neogothic St Conans Church. The apartment was fine but a little lacking in the soul of the host (e.g. no shelves in the bathroom, it could use more space to unload luggage like cloat hangers, cupboard, shelf or something; a washing machine would be useful)

Well the only things that I find unpleasant is lack of privacy when you uncover the terrace doors, either the front or the rear ones, as there are other guests and staff walking around, and air circulation is so poor that it has to be opened from time to time (no windows other that the terrace doors).

Stayed in one of the cabins. View of the loche from the porch in the front. Lovely to sit there in the morning with coffee and listen to the chickens up the way. The staff were extremely friendly, helped us a lot with questions and directing us to hiking routes. The restaurant was comfortable and busy (with football on) and we had a great meal and a pint or two. There are several interesting sites around but highly recommend the tour into the hydro-electric power station hidden underneath the Ben Cruachan mountains! It's a brief tour but informative and fascinating.

A 2 minute walk across road for a beautiful sunrise of the mountains and highlighting the Kilchurn Castle ruin. A good location for hiking adventures. Short drive to Oban area for day trip. Facility was all modern with no worry. Small store next door with some snacks, drinks, packaged food, (no fresh food ie. fruits veggies). Inn Restaurant was excellent food and service.

Restaurant menu was limited if dining more than one day. Choice was limited if your desire was to just want a burger or fish and chips or soup and sandwich. Wish I could have ordered from the kids menu.

A lovely hotel, bar and restaurant in a beautiful location. The Ben Cruachan hotel is in a quiet location just across from Loch Awe railway station (a stop on the West Highland Line to Oban), overlooking the loch and a short walk/drive from St.Conan’s Kirk (and a slightly longer journey to Kilchurn Castle). We were in the little apartments outside the main building, which were spacious, clean and well-equipped with a smart tv, kitchenette and plenty of storage. The bed was huge and very comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and modern with a large walk-in shower. The restaurant and bar is very cosy, and the food is absolutely excellent, 10 out of 10. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay and it was a lovely experience, would highly recommend if you’re in the area or want a quiet stay in a gorgeous place.

Spacious for two with lovely loch views. Comfortable bed, nice big fluffy towels and toiletries in bathroom . We loved it but with a little more thought (see below) it could be excellent.

Kitchen needed better explanation in description. We thought it only had microwave but actually had two pan cooker hob. But only one old pan and one pretty sad very used looking frying pan which we didn’t fancy. If you’re only supplying two they should be in good condition surely? No bread knife? Bedroom needs a small dressing table with mirror to use hairdryer, you can’t see to do hair. There is space in bedroom and sockets for that. And bathroom mirror should light up but didn’t so nowhere to see properly for makeup/contact lenses!

Super friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic food, excellent location. Local train station across the road, we went into Oban, very scenic rail journey Kilchurn castle and St Conan's Kirk are both nearby and a must see. All in all a brilliant 2 night stay.

Absolutely amazing inn! The confit duck is to die for, and the staff are top-notch. The atmosphere is really welcoming and cosy, and the room is charming. I also really liked that you pre-order your breakfast, and I generally felt really catered to. The location is to die for as well; a stone throw away from the local railway station.

The bathroom was a tad too cold for my liking. Also, the light bulb in the ceiling light is cooler than I prefer and has an almost light green hue on its own. It was easily solved, though, by turning on the bedside lamps.

Excellent location right beside Loch Awe and right opposite the Loch Awe train station (no noise from trains though). The staff were very friendly and helpful, the bar/restaurant was lovely with good food and drink and a nice cozy atmosphere. The lodge we stayed in was very modern and clean and was enough space for 2 adults and 2 children. We got the train to Oban which only took around 40 minutes and was so easy as the station is right across the road. We also visited Inverary which is about 15 minutes drive and has a castle and Inverary Jail and some nice wee shops and cafes.
