My wife and I booked room number 35, which when we checked in was described to us as the best room in the hotel and I can certainly believe it. It was extremely large, nicely furnished, split level, on the front of the hotel at a high level and had large French windows leading out to a small balcony. There was a great view from our room across to the Loch. When we stayed, the temperatures in Scotland were very high and like most hotels in Scotland this hotel does not have any air conditioning. However, by opening the French windows we were able to have an excellent through breeze and we were fortunate that there were none of the infamous Scottish midges in the air. We only had breakfast in the hotel which was very good. We did not otherwise eat in the hotel, nor sadly did we drink in the hotel as by the time we got back to the hotel in the evenings we were so tired that we just wanted to go to our room. We could see that a lot of people were sat outside on the terrace by the entrance to the hotel enjoying alfresco drinks which looked very pleasant.

Unfortunately and again, typical of many Scottish hotels, this hotel does not have a lift. But the staff were more than willing to assist us with our luggage up the stairs.

Falls of Lora hotel is in a great location with lovely views to the front of the hotel and only a short drive into Oban. The food is excellent both in the hotel dining room and in the bistro and the staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Our room was very clean and the bed very comfortable and the view from our window was lovely.

The only downside for us was that the hotel doesn't have a lift and as our room was on the second floor my husband who has mobility issues found it pretty strenuous getting to our room. However it wouldn't prevent us staying again but in a ground floor room next time.

It was recommended by Mark at OBAN cycles as I had selected Lora Falls or Oyster Inn. He said Lora Falls would be his choice is better and has a more traditional Scottish feel. It had character, was well located to the bridge as we cycled for 4 days . We took the train from Glasgow and wish we had known it so close to the Connell train station as we could have embarked there rather than in Oban and uber to the hotel. It was quiet and we loved the reading room, the open fires, a great place to relax, conducive to connecting with other travellers, as the bedroom did not have seating space- please do not lose those spaces when refurbishing . Hospitality and food were the standouts of course . Loved my smoked mackerel salad for breakfast !!!

Nothing really, Aware it is a listed property which limits building improvements to modern day standards- the outer facade is suited to a more traditional hotel - please keep that in mind when refurbishing. Great location....gardens lovely and views from terrace really good. A great place to relax with a glass of something....in the sun...bonus. Evening meal was fine as was breakfast. Reception staff brilliant. It was a good one night stopover en route further north.

Missed the entrance sign! Could have been me after a long drive. Room and bathroom both clean but basic.. which was fine for one night. Finding our breakfast table was interesting...three connecting rooms and we were in the final room...a basic breakfast room. It did feel like we had booked a basic room ( which we had) and then had to walk through 2 nicer breakfast rooms to the end one...which felt like the basic one to go with our room. Breakfast was fine and our waitress lovely. I thought it was a bit expensive for what it was...but maybe that's to do with the tourist area.

The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, particularly when we needed to alter the number of days we were staying. We had a really lovely tasty meal in the evening - fresh fish, and tasty starters. The waiter was friendly and helpful. Our breakfast was fantastic - we had kippers, lovely. The waitress was a really lovely lady, friendly, organised and clearly years of experience. Our room was lovely and warm - which was a blessing after having been caught in the rain. Shower was hot and powerful.

Our room was a little dated but still comfortable. The hotel is obviously updating the hotel in stages and just hadn't got to our room.

Great Location in the village of Connel just before Oban as you come from the south. Beautiful views out to the Loch. Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious. Great restaurant and lounge. Beds were comfortable and room had everything needed. Free car park on site. Electric car charging points. Lovely old building which has been maintained and extended tastefully. The decor is very old fashioned but is charming and in keeping with the period of the original building. Check out is 11am instead of the usual 10am which we appreciated. There is a train station in the village and regular buses to Oban.

The room was very cold on arrival as radiator off. Might be an idea for the cleaners to turn them on when they have finished airing out the room. Towels were very old and a grey colour. I presume they had been originally white and need replacing. We would have loved a coffee machine at breakfast in order to have our usual cappuccino instead of filter coffee which was very strong. It would have been great if the bar had been open for coffee at check out instead of 1230. There are very few places in the village that sell coffee to have before setting off on the next leg of your journey.

The most amazing getaway in a lovely location. Staff clearly take great pride in their job as they are sincerely helpful, polite and professional. On arrival receptionist gave us information on the bus to Oban that just stops outside the hotel and a map of Oban with all the local bars, restaurants and sites (handy as it is difficult to find parking in Oban so bus is stress free). Also lovely to come back to the tranquility of the Falls of Lora after a being in the very busy Oban centre. The food is great at the hotel too- best food I have ever eaten at a hotel ( hot, plentiful and reasonably priced). Rooms are really lovely, clean, fresh and decorated to a high standard - sockets near mirrors, complimentary bottle of water, spa toiletries etc. all well thought out for comfort.

The property is well located for exploring the west coast of Scotland, just north of Oban and in a beautiful spot overlooking Loch Etive. We stayed in a beautiful suite on the first floor which was comfortable, clean and very spacious. The hotel is decorated in a traditional Scottish manner and has great character. It’s also high up off the road, which is quiet anyhow, and therefore we benefitted from undisturbed sleep. The restaurant is great and I would recommend without reservation. The breakfast menu is also very good too. Staff were welcoming and really helpful. Thanks for making our overnight stay in Connel so enjoyable. We will return I’m sure.

We have stayed here previously and really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. Great pub food and nice rooms, but more expensive than previous stay.

Staying on the second floor with no lift for luggage could be a challenge if heavier cases were brought. We had requested a taxi to pick up up at 6:30am to meet a ferry day trip, but they did not show up on time so we had to drive into Oban and find parking for all day to meet being at the ferry by 6:55. We made it with 2 minutes to spare. When I phoned to follow up with the taxi request, their mobile phone went to voicemail - nothing to do with the hotel, but something to be wary of if relying on taxis for the future.

So many things i could say that i liked the location is fantastic great sunsets across loch etive and beyond . Perfectly placed to visit oban or glencoe and beyond are within reasonable distance. Then on return you can relax infront of an open fire in the bistro or residents lounge. The staff are all fantastic from the girls at check-in to Soufiane the bistro manager and his team who are great food is fantastic we ate the all 3 nights of our stay and we both enjoyed every meal and the great service we got. The breakfast team are the same we had Roud on fri and sat such a nice guy we felt well looked afternice to sit enjoy the view at breakfast good variety of options to suit most tastes. Room was clean and tidy and well appointed rest of the hotel is the same and old building that has been nicely looked after a great place to come and relax an independent hotel that makes you feel like a guest rather than just another number and face through the door. Many thanks to all at The Falls of Lora for a great stay.

The only thing i didn't like was the fact that we couldn't have stayed there longer . But definitely plan to return.
