A cosy and quiet room – despite the busy street outside and the pub downstairs – featuring a (decorative) fireplace. It has an old-school feel: two taps over the sink, proper metal keys with a wooden tag instead of dull key cards (sadly, the manager said this feature will be gone by autumn, if I understood correctly – a shame), etc. Excellent location – many places in central London are within walking distance. Clean. Exceptionally friendly staff. The only downside was that they no longer serve breakfast (so I believe the “breakfast included” option should be removed from Booking). I booked the room back in January or thereabouts with breakfast included, and as it was no longer available, I was offered compensation options. I chose a pleasant dinner with a friend at the pub, on the house. All in all, I would highly recommend.

The Clerk & Well is a comfortable place to stay, that combines the pleasant atmosphere of an English pub with the comfort of a very spacious (hard to find in London!), cosy and clean hotel room. Bathroom is nicely refurbished and looked new, stylish and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is being served in the pub, by friendly young staff, and plenty of place in the morning. The breakfast menu consists of (I guess) typical English hot and rich food. I can recommend the smashed avocado + poached egg toast. Pleasant place to enjoy a drink in the evening as well. Definitely a recommended place to stay if you like English pub-charm combined with a very comfortable and spacious hotel room.

I would have appreciated some cold breakfast options like yogurt and fruits. But hey, I'm from the continent :-) Other than that, go there and you won't be disappointed.

Extremely friendly staff. Clean and comfortable beds. Roomy clean bathroom. Good quiet location but on Easter weekend it was a bit too quiet.. Close to bus stops which took us anywhere we needed. Short bus ride to most central sites and attractions.

Thin walls. Could hear the next door guests talking and employees moving heavy objects early morning and at night. Not very close to underground station if you need it. The bar downstairs can get very busy. There is a separate entrance to the rooms but it can be crowded with people drinking.

Excellent location within easy access for most places and ideal for my purposes that day/evening. The staff were so helpful and pleasant to deal with. The room was spacious with iron, ironing board, hairdryer, toiletries and aircon - which was much appreciated as it was a very hot day/evening! The bed itself was so comfortable with cosy bedding and pillows meaning I slept well. The only thing to mention is that there was no breakfast, but there are numerous other locations in a short distance to get breakfast. Would definitely return.

I booked the Superior Double Room at Clerk and Well for four nights for a city getaway trip. This was the second time I have stayed at Clerk and Well. My first stay two years ago was excellent but a few things weren't perfect but after a remodel, things are now completely perfect! The comfortably furnished room, with an excellent bed and linens, also included a fridge and coffee maker and plenty of room to store your clothes. The bathroom has a tub/shower, plenty of towels and spaciousness. I enjoyed the city view to read and watch the world go by. A nice hot choice of breakfasts is included in the charming pub downstairs, served by a great staff. I like the location close to Farringdon station but many buses stop outside the pub permitting easy travel all through London. Honestly I would not want to stay anywhere else while visiting London.

Not all travelers will be able to manage the steep narrow stairway to the rooms above, so it's something to keep in mind.

Easy access to the Farringdon tube station, which is a stop on the Elizabeth Line from LHR. Many of the major sights were easy to get to. The rooms and restaurant were beautifully decorated and comfortable. Even though the restaurant was lively and busy below, the room remained nice and quiet. The food was delicious for both dinner and breakfast. The staff kindly made breakfast sandwiches and brought several other items for us the night before we would have to leave early for the airport.

If you have any issue with steps, this property would not work for you. There are several flights of very steep steps and we did not see an elevator. Be prepared to carry luggage up and down.

Amazing large room and the staff in the pub was simply outstanding. Made us feel like the C & W was our "local" from the moment we walked in. Delightful breakfast menu and coffees provided every morning. Great selection of beers, though they were out of a few while we were there.

Room 8 shares a wall with the kitchen, and it can be a little loud later at night when they're cleaning. There is some street noise on the first floor, but to be expected anywhere in London on a low floor. Beware there are no elevators/lifts and if you're on the 2nd or third floor it's pretty tight and steep. Definitely don't recommend bringing a large, heavy suitcase because of this.

Our room was immaculately clean and fresh, well presented, well equipped, comfortable, and it was so quiet which surprised us but was very welcome - we had been thinking being above a pub and on a busy street might be noisy but it really wasn't. The coffee maker and tea facilities were a great touch - very nice coffee choices! We were there during the winter and it was pleasantly warm and cosy. The room has air conditioning and a ceiling fan so we are sure it will be also be pleasant and comfortable in the summer months too. We enjoyed a delicious dinner in a friendly and lively London pub atmosphere, and breakfast was equally delicious - the Full English was very good. The food in general is excellent British pub grub. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Bar staff are a lovely bunch. Good and fair price for rooms and food. It's a great place for couples.

There was nothing we disliked, however - drinking water in the rooms would be good and an improvement. The toiletries - include a shower cap so the Monsoon shower can be enjoyed without getting your hair wet every time. The water was only warm enough for a shower, not hot enough to draw a bath. The stairs are extremely steep, which the hotel did tell us about to be fair - but this is not the place for very young families with prams or pushchairs, or folks who are less fit and able - there is no lift. We didn't mind the stairs but it is worth noting they are very steep! This is definitely a couples hotel.

We were welcomed by the hotel reception staff who escorted us to our room and even carried one of our cases. Please note that there are steep stairs to climb to get to your room so if you are not too mobile, you might struggle. There's no lift and the listing does mention all of that. The room was spacious, clean and had all of the amenities that you might need - such as good hairdryer and iron and ironing board. The bed was very comfy. The room is decorated nicely with old style furniture - which was nice and unique. The bathroom was lovely - large and beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. Just nit-picking but one of the lights wasn't working - probably just the bulb but we weren't that bothered. The property gives very good value for money. Our deal included breakfast which was very nice.

+ Check in, was easy and straight forward, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. + Our room (1) was cosy and clean. Shower pressure and temperature so perfect too. +Room had a fan and air con, windows opened a little. Double windows which kept out traffic noise. + Tea and coffee (nescafe machine) provided, so that was perfect. + Breakfast was very good. Full English, came on a slice of sourdough, and we could have eggs done any way. + We both loved the decor and colour scheme of the pub downstairs and the room we were in.

- The mattress was too firm, but I guess that is personal preference. - House keeping knocked around 9.30am, check out wasn't until 11am, though the staff did warn us about that the day before. House keeping also came into our room as we were coming back from breakfast, which is fine, but made us feel a little rushed. They literally have to wait like 10 minutes for us to gather our things and leave the room.
