The room was tastefully decorated. Maybe not my style exactly but in keeping with the building's style. The bed was comfy.

The fact that the room was too warm. Despite an open window. It ended up meaning a bad sleep in my case. A fan is needed as the weather wasn't unseasonably hot. Hotter weather like now would make for a poor sleep. I wasn't keen on the basic breakfast. Considering it was included in the price then it's understandable the standard was basic. However I feel the cooked breakfast would have been worth paying the extra.

My stay at The Ascott was the result of a last minute change of plan after other arrangements fell through. I needed somewhere with parking and less than £100 a night. The Ascott offered parking, a private bathroom, and it looked like a charming old place, with a bit of character. Some of the reviews worried me a bit, but I have to say, it surpassed my expectations. I was met by the manager and given a lovely room, with plenty of character. There was ample parking and the urban village of Monton, with lots of places to eat, was only a short walk away. The hotel gave me easy access to the motorway and routes to visit my cousins in Manchester. I would happily stay here again. It was a perfect base for me in the city.

The room was lovely, bed was very comfortable. The light breakfast was perfect,June was very friendly and smiled ,chatted with us throughout. The owner let us in at 20 50 as we were stuck in traffic.

The information about check in time should be communicated before someone completes their booking as we had come across delays and accidents via m25 & m6. I tried calling the telephone line given for 6 times and managed to get an answer from a gentleman who was not in a position to listen to me and sounded angry,i tried to calmly explain to him amd he said i needed to call Booking .com and cancel,of which I would have needed to do a new booking .I would have lost the money I had already spent. Iam grateful that the man opened for me and we had a lovely chat,he explained a few things and was vey polite.

The room was clean and comfortable. The whole hotel was very well kept and unworn. Te bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and cushions. It was especially good to have an easy chair as well as an upright chair. The location is good for a gentle stroll into Monton where there are quite a few attractive cafes and bars.

The entrance to the car park is very narrow so if you have a bigger than average car (as I do) it might not be possible to get in or worse still get out. But there is room for four or five cars in the front so it was not a problem for me.

Very convenient for Salford Royal where my partner was for emergency surgery. I looked for as local as possible with good reviews. Good communication when I booked about my dietary requirements, they did not have gluten free or dairy free but not a problem as took my own. The hotel is tricky to find as my sat nav said it was sooner on the road but fine I knew where it is. Parking at the back, it’s a narrow entrance but perfectly doable. The hotel is full of beautiful antique furniture and interesting paintings and prints. My first room number 6 was in the eves, lovely and warm and very comfortable. Kettle with tea and coffee available. Breakfast was cereals and toast with excellent tea or coffee served by the lovely June. She happily toasted the bread I had taken. I had to book an extra night but had to move to room 4 which was just as comfortable but a little noisy as it was at the front. I can’t thank them enough for providing a safe haven for me in a stressful situation, ignore any negative comments this is a lovely place to stay.

More plugs are required for the kettles and chargers. Not a complaint just observation.

I have stayed here twice before. I come now from Surrey butI grew up around the corner in Clarendon Crescent and my parents are buried in Peel Green and I like to come and “visit” them when I can. The Astcott is superb in every way. It is spotlessly clean, the owners are just so welcoming and the breakfast is superb! I cannot believe that it is such amazing value for money. Thank you, so much.

That I could not stay longer. Please, if visiting Salford/ Eccles/ Monton or even Manchester itself, consider staying here.

Beautifully furnished. Superb breakfast.

The hotel doesn’t open until 4pm. Although we arrived a bit early with every intention of having a stroll it was concerning as the place was so closed up. Did wonder if we had been scammed. I think this should be made clear on booking description.Parking very limited and difficult but there is a side street with no restrictions. Also we could not sit with friends at breakfast. Separate breakfast rooms. As we had paid more and they were restricted to non cooked breakfast we had to sit in different rooms. So all a bit odd and could be made clear upfront. But for a one night stay it was perfectly fine. Pay a bit more l, you won’t regret it for the fantastic breakfast.

Very helpful and friendly staff. We arrived a few hours before check-in and contacted the hotel, they let us park so we could get lunch in the meantime. The staff also informed us about the range of restaurants just a short walk into Monton and we went off to get lunch before returning to check-in. It was also a short walk to Eccles Metrolink and Eccles bus interchange making it easy to use public transport to get to other locations around Greater Manchester. The rooms were well presented and clean.

The hotel was very comfortable, with great traditional touches which were lovely. Clean and tidy room and bathroom, plenty of teas and coffee, shower was brilliant. Rooms good for space, comfortable large beds, plenty of natural light in the room, very quiet as it was at the back of the hotel. But even though its based in a triangle of busy roads, we didnt hear much traffic noise at all. Excellent value for money. David was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable with information about the local area and transport opportunities. June was very friendly and her breakfasts were superb 😊 Excellent location for heading into the Quays or Manchester.

Nothing to dislike

Friendly chatty staff. Close location to hospital. Relatively quiet residential area. Stable and reliable Wi-Fi. Comfortable bed. Clean and well presented although dated. Free parking available

Free breakfast however very limited and not much choice. OJ, tea/coffee, toast, cereal on offer. £15 for a cooked breakfast. No fan available. Restrictive rules: not able to have a takeaway in room, so no uber eats! Morning heating came on a bit late so it was chilly first thing.
