Now let's be clear, this is a budget hotel. Some of the reviews are bizarre. Be clear, most budget hotels now have families living there. It smelt of curry? Do what I do, be friendly to people then get invited to share the curry - delicious! This is a great little hotel and the staff and owner go out of their way to help. Bilal, George & all the cleaners are lovely people - nothing is too much trouble Obliviously I haven't stayed in every room but the ones I have are spacious, modern and very clean. Nice garden and balcony too Just to clarify though, they no longer do breakfast, and parking isn't great (but park outside, unload then park 5 minutes away) I would highly recommend. Perfect for visits to the cricket ground (5 minute walk) and a ten minute walk from town. Lots of pubs, restaurants, shops and takeaways very close too

Manager was extremely friendly and polite. The room was bright and spacious. We initially had an issue with the bedding but the manager rectified this straight away. Great location for the cricket ground and just a short bus/taxi ride from the centre. There isn't any breakfast included but there is a microwave, toaster and fridge in the dining area for all to use. There are cafes across the street that do breakfasts and lots of restaurants and takeaways

Although the room was clean it could do with a few finishing touches (radiator valve missing, repair to window blind, repair to cabinet drawer). Just minor things that need a bit of attention but did not affect our stay.

Arrived at property later than anticipated however manager was there to greet us. He was very polite, professional and friendly. Unfortunately the room we were given wasn't good as detailed but thankfuully the manager was very apologetic and offered us an alternative upgraded room immediately

The room that was allocated to us unfortunately had an unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. (The smell was coming from the drain in the shower cubicle). The manager again was very helpful and offered an alternative room for our stay at no extra cost Rooms could be a lot cleaner and 2 rather than 1 bath towels would be better

The property is in a very good location close to lots of Pubs, places to eat, there is a supermarket within 5 minutes walk. The property is bright and clean with a manned reception. Large garden area, with a designated smoking area. Tea, Coffee etc is provided in the room along with a kettle. Large shower. On the lower floor there is a large room which can be used to eat in, with a microwave and fridge which you can use. There was a great fan provided in the room to help with the warm nights. There is on road parking outside Oscar Lodge but vehicles must be moved early morning alternatively there is parking in the street around the corner which can be left longer. The staff are very helpful and polite. Would definitely recommend this place to stay

Can’t really think of anything I didn’t like

Very attentive at reception. Received a complimentary drink on arrival, which was very much appreciated at the end of a warm, long day. My room was very welcoming, with good facilities, and a comfortable bed, which always helps.

My only issue was not able to get the temperature of the shower right, but that could have been my own ineptitude, not getting it correct, rather than any hotel-based issue.

The whole team member were so , helpful and kind. They were providing service at anytime when we need . I like that the room was so clean and tidy. As we stayed there with our baby. We need to checkout at 11 but the manager allowed us to stay for late without charge and also allow to use the communal area if we want after checkout. We are so happy with all facilities. So, I had recommended my friends as well they are also going to stay there. There are so, many cafe which open early as well for breakfast.

The place was really good for our outing, the manager of the place was amazing, very helpful and I can't thank him enough for how friendly he was and for being so kind to all of us. Definitely is a place I will book again ! I highly recommend Oscar Lodge.

Room was big, nice bathroom, nice selection of takeaways on the street (i went for American BBQ) Clean and tidy. Helpful staff, and most of all excellent value for money.

It is on a main road, and it was a saturday night so of course it was a bit noisy. I can sleep through most things so it was fine but if you're a light sleeper you might struggle.

Shubaib gave me am incredibly warm welcome. He was friendly and personable and gave me a detailed explanation of the facilities. The room was nice.

The room wasn't as clean as I'd hoped (hairs on the bed, dead spider on the floor).

Good location and easy to find. Owner really friendly and helpful when needed. Room was just right for my stay as I was travelling alone. Good price for a three night stay. Would stay again.
