This is the third year we have spent at the Black Swan for our annual Norfolk break and after our first stay we requested the same room when booking again. Facilities are excellent and the location very convenient for Norwich, the Broads and the coast. There is plenty of choice for breakfast and the quality of ingredients cannot be faulted. We ate in the hotel every evening because of the varied menu and quality and presentation of the food which was excellent. One of the big pluses of the hotel is the professional staff. From check-in to check-out all the staff we met were very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful.

Absolutely beautiful location and so close to the airport, yet you would never know. I had my car, so the location suited me as I was working at the airport. Building, bar and rooms lovely. Really nice outside area. Staff are so lovely and really made the stay. Food is absolutely fantastic. I loved the attention to detail with breakfast. It’s very nicely done and feels like a boutique hotel. Had I known, I would have tried to stay there for the couple of weeks I was there.

The only reason I marked down on cleanliness was the bathroom had a strong odour. I’m not sure if it was a cleaning product or was a drain issue. It wasn’t overpowering, but was notable when you went in. However, the rooms and bathroom were spotless. I never said anything about and it did not affect my stay. If I had said anything I’m sure they would have done their best to sort it.

Ample car parking at rear of the property which is always a bonus. The family room was spacious, well decorated and clean and equipped with everything you needed. Nice big bathroom with plenty of towels and toiletries. Plenty of hot drinks and biscuits supplied daily and the housekeeping staff were very bright and cheery and the room was spotless by the time we got back from breakfast. Breakfast was supplied to order and the staff were polite and attentive. Lovely place to stay when visiting this part of the world and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

The only small thing that I was a little disappointed about was that there was no fresh fruit available at breakfast apart from some grapes. Bananas or blueberries would be much appreciated! :)

This hotel always exceeds expectations. It is clean, comfortable, homely, welcoming and has delicious food! Plus, its location is ideal for access to the City or surrounds. My parents now tend to stay here each time they come to visit. We all stayed the night before my wedding at Norwich Castle in August. The host was exceptionally accommodating of our circumstances as I'd had a delay with a treatment and my parents broke down on the way to Norfolk, meaning we all arrived late. We can't thank the Black Swan enough for their understanding. We went back to the hotel for our wedding lunch and it all went beautifully. The staff are always ready to help and the process couldn't have been simpler. Thank you to all for contributing to the joy of our wedding day. Kirsty and David Fisher (married on 13th August 2024).

Staff throughout the hotel were very helpful and always made you feel welcome. Quality of food was excellent and the menu was varied with very good choices for breakfast. The bar and restaurant were very nice and comfortable after a day touring the area. Location suited us because the areas we like to visit are are all within 30 mins drive.

This is being picky...more hanging space to allow for 2 sets of towels in the bathroom. Also maybe a blind for the bathroom window. Having said that, we would still look forward to another stay at the hotel and in the same room.

All the staff were very welcoming and friendly; checking in, bar staff, waiters and cleaners. Warm cosy room. Plenty of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. Good shower. Evening meal was tasty. Breakfast was superbly cooked, and plates were warmed. The best poached eggs that I've tasted in a long time. Would highly recommend and would happily stay here again.

There was nothing not to like. To have made it extra special, I would have liked Heinz baked beans and locally made sausages.

Nice room, comfortable bed, very clean. Excellent breakfast. Most of the staff very pleasant and helpful. Quiet location but easy enough to get to Norwich city centre by taxi. (There is also a bus, 44A, which runs through the village between Aylsham and Norwich.

Returned from the city centre at 9.30pm with the plan of having a couple of drinks and a leisurely chat to be told by the person behind the bar, who appeared seriously miffed we had turned up, despite there being another 3 people already there, that he was calling last orders. Ordered a drink and half way through it at 10pm we were told he was locking the bar up and we should take our drinks to our rooms to finish them. Wouldn’t mind but the guest information pack in the room said the bar was open until 11pm 7 days a week.

The location of the accommodation was fantastic, and our room was perfectly decorated with an extremely comfortable bed. Additionally, the view from our room was great. We enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately, we were next door to some children who kept opening and closing the doors, which led to loud banging on our wall and door. In addition to that, they were running in the corridor late at night, which was quite inconvenient for us since we had an early flight.

It is important to advise parents to keep their children from running in the corridors to ensure the safety of everyone.

Friendly and helpful staff on arrival, at breakfast and checkout. Room was clean, looked freshly and tastefully decorated, good quality furniture, good bedding and towels, clean carpets and good shower. Tea, coffee, kettle, bottled water provided, decent hairdryer and plenty of plug sockets with USB connections. Breakfast was very tasty, select 'breakfast included' option for best value for money. Good quality full English breskfast. We would definitely recommend and would stay again, thank you for a very pleasant stay

Rooms were very warm but radiators could be turned down. Rooms overlooking car park could hear boiler / extraction vent running (I think) so if light sleeper suggest asking for room at other side of building

Dinner was beautifully presented and full of colour and flavour. The french beans were perfectly cooked a la dente and evenly coloured green :-) Breakfast was amply proportioned, my eggs benedict were superb. Coffee and tea readily available as well as the orange juice. The whole was graciously served by well-mannered, attentive ladies.

Didn't like having to leave. Also didn't like the wintry weather outside. Not overly happy about seeing a solitary magpie heading west across the road. I definitely didn't like the smelly taxi that brought my wife and I from the railway station to the inn.
