The room we stayed in was fantastic. Beautiful views. We were lucky enough to see the sun rise on both mornings of our stay from the wonderful view in our room. Magnificent. We love staying at the Mercure. Our receptionist Amelie, was really lovely. We saw her on arrival, for breakfast, as well as departure.

As always, the temperature of the room can be a bit overwhelming. 19.5°C is far too hot for us (menopause kicking in too, so I personally struggle with being too warm). We were only able to get the thermostat to go down to 19°C this time. (On other occasions we have been able to get it down to 18°C, which is still a bit too warm for us.) I do think that customers should be able to reduce/increase the room temperature to their liking. Housekeeping can always put the temperature back to the baseline temperature when customers leave. Please, please, please can this be addressed.

food was nice at breakfast if you could get round the dogs everywhere. nice clean new hotel but cant see it will stay that way with dogs everywhere

dogs everywhere. it is completely inappropriate for animals to be in the food area at breakfast. there were a lot of people complaining to each other about this. i cannot see how you get a food hygiene certificate by allowing dogs to literally go up to the buffet and then watch them eat off the floor. only one member of staff on sunday morning told them to leave the area. it is also unfair that just because you have a dog you get reserved seating areas by the window. other people had to queue.

They were having a soft opening so got a great deal and was so well looked after. The staff were really lovely and so helpful. They were having a few teething issues with systems and the like but it didn't matter. They were charming and really went the extra mile. The hotel itself is lovely and so far removed from what I'm used to having to stay in when visiting family in Paignton. I'm so glad the Mercure has arrived!!! At last, somewhere decent to stay. :-)

Nothing.

Great location, right by the pier and town centre. Staff were all lovely, all with a smile on their face. Very clean and tidy. Lovely gardens and terrace on the front. Well maintained. Reception very helpful and efficient.

Breakfast was good, but at times seemed to be a bit disorganised with people having to ask for spoons, tea etc, and the coffee machine being right next to the kitchen door! Parking a bit of a faff but OK when you get the hang of it! Do tell them if you are not using the car park - they assume that you are and charge you accordingly. Accessible room - there was no shelving in the bathroom (plenty of room for it), and only one small hook, not sure if this applies to all rooms, but this could definitely be improved.

Good location, nice breakfast I am gluten free & there was gluten free porridge, toast & other items available just needed to ask the staff. Would also like to say a big thank you to Shaun the maintenance gentleman for sorting out the problem we had with the heating/air conditioning in our room, he was really friendly & helpful & nothing was too much trouble

Room was cold in the evenings as the cool air kept overriding the heat temperature, we had to ask reception 3 times before it was sorted out. We were given welcome drinks which was nice.

Amazing hardworking 5* staff, very polite, pleasant and professional. Hotel runs very smoothly. Pretty room, made up daily. Constant fresh towels and tea/coffee etc replenished. Limited breakfast items laid out but more were available from the bar, cooked to order eg hash browns, fried eggs. There was a big dish of plain yogurt and milk alternatives were provided. Lots of sliced meats and cheeses. Excellent WiFi. Opposite beach. I chose a quiet room on the back but still had a nice view over the town and hills. Central location, easy walk to bus and train station. Lots of cafes, pubs and shops close by.

Breakfast didn’t have individual yogurt pots, berries or omelettes and it took a while to find out that some extras could be ordered from the bar, there were no menus. Rooms don’t have windows that open and I stayed over a very hot few days. Air conditioning is good and kept the room reasonably cool, but I missed natural fresh air! The town isn’t attractive but is a good base for day trips.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely fantastic! The location is perfect – right by the beach, with shops and amenities just around the corner and easy transport links to get anywhere you need. We were lucky enough to catch a funfair happening nearby, which made it even more enjoyable. The staff were amazing, especially the lady at reception who went above and beyond to make our anniversary trip extra special. Unfortunately, I didn’t get her name, but her kindness and effort truly made our stay memorable. The hotel is not far from other popular areas, and we had so much fun exploring and walking up and down the beaches. I would definitely recommend staying here. One tip – book directly with the hotel! You’ll get much better value. We unfortunately lost out on about £180 by booking through Booking.com. Overall, an unforgettable stay and we can’t wait to come back!

The hotel looks beautiful and the rooms are spacious and very clean. I especially love the walk in shower as I struggle with mobility. The temperature and shower pressure is the best I've ever experienced at a hotel. The breakfast has an amazing choice of hot buffet and cereals, fruits, meat, cheese and condiments. The restaurant does excellent food in the evening as well. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. This is where my partner now stay every time she comes to visit me in Paignton. The location is just 5 minutes walk from the train and bus stations and I'd across the road from the beach.

There's really nothing to dislike about my stays here.

The room was fantastic - spacious with a mahoosive and very comfortable bed, walk-in power shower, noiseless but pitch-perfect aircon, great sea views. We got breakfast for free as a booking.com loyalty bonus, and the combination of varied continental-and-English buffet and freshly cooked extras made to order was great - service with a smile too.

We had not planned to eat in the restaurant in the evenings but the lack of vegan options on the menu meant we did not change our plans when we liked so many other things about the hotel - an opportunity missed. There was a foible in our bathroom where the drainage grille for the wetroom walk in shower was a bit too high, meaning that some of the water crossed into the rest of the bathroom - needs attention (room 117).

First of all entering the hotel we were very impressed with all the space.. Very easy to park the car and enter the hotel.. Our accessible room was massive and we loved the decor.. Big shower head is fabulous.

Well although the bathroom is fab there is no where for my disabled husband to sit to get dried, so he had to sit on the toilet …could do with a plastic chair in the corner… Also no shelf anywhere to put wash-bags so had to put them on the floor… Then I went to hang up clothes and only 5 hangers? A few more would be nice… Breakfast is a bit of a nightmare, everything thing running out and I had to keep asking for things…!!! Also needs more coffee machines..
