Lovely friendly place, nice & clean & welcoming. I was a female solo traveller but on arrival the girl on reception gave me a double room upgrade (I'd only booked the single room) which was a nice touch. Food was really nice here in the restaurant. Room was lovely & clean & comfy. Also a lovely addition was Pepper the dog who is super calm & friendly. I will stay here again when I'm next visiting the area.

Only thing to note was music until 1am but it's a pub so to be expected, wasn't a problem for me but just to note if you are someone who struggles to sleep. (also may have just been my particular room)

"I had a fantastic stay! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure a great experience. The room was spotless, with a perfect temperature that made it feel incredibly comfortable. The shower had excellent water pressure, and I loved the convenience of having tea and coffee available in the room. The whole atmosphere was peaceful and cosy, providing the ideal environment to relax.

There was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom that was quite off-putting. I hope this can be addressed for future guests."

This was the second time we have stayed at the Nithsdale Hotel and it did not disappoint. The rooms are clean, airy and comfortable. The staff are exceptional. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing as was the service. The team of staff we encountered at breakfast and dinner service were so welcoming and friendly as well as being thoroughly professional. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel and the next time we visit Sanquhar we will definitely be staying at the Nithsdale.

Our room was lovely, we had an issue with the television, but this was sorted. The food in the resturant was very good. The breakfast was continental which was plentiful. The cooked breakfast was available for £7.00 this was worth it, I woud have liked paoched eggs on toast but I thought £5.99 was overpriced. They have a Sunday carvery in the afternoon if you want one very reasonable.

The radiators were a bit hit and miss in our bedroom. This was not a problem or we would have complained.

Warm and comfortable on a cold damp day. The evening meal was really good, tasty, healthy and beautifully cooked. Continental breakfast was varied and generous with cereals, yoghourt and fruit as well as very nice bread and other goodies. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and seemed to enjoy their jobs. My room was very comfortable and I slept well and I disturbed. My room was on the Main Street which is on a major road but was not noisy and after about 8 or 9 pm pretty well silent.

Everything was fine.

There were three of us and we booked 2 rooms. One was superb and spacious on the top floor . The continental breakfast was good, with the option to pay for a cooked breakfast, also good.

The second room we were allocated was a windowless space on the ground floor at the opposite end of the hotel from the other one. When I said it was unacceptable I am glad to say I was allocated a different room with a small window, adequate but not as lovely as the room on the top floor allocated to my friends.

Room was clean and Tidy. Lovely presentation with towels and small toiletiries on bed.Good location. Staff all friendly and helpful. Room the the end of hotel above the hairdressers. Room was spacious and beds comfy. Pool table and darts available to play and karaoke on the Saturday night wasnt too noisy

As above the hair salon strong smells of hairspray etc but went after it closed. Toilet roll holder was missing off wall. No where to hang towels in bathroom

Staff were superb - friendly, welcoming, helpful, accommodating. Hotel food was excellent and there were guests eating at the bar if they couldn't get a table in the restaurant. Sanquhar a pretty village surrounded by gorgeous countryside, quiet, scenic, lovely.

Be warned the hotel has dogs, the barking is pretty loud but never after 11pm or before 8am! And they were very well-behaved.

Very Good value for a pleasant room. ensuite with a proper door and a good shower. Decent smart Samsung TV. Welcoming, helpful, cheerful staff. Continental breakfast included but if hungry enough add on one of the cooked options as they looked good.

While the room had a great view of the tollbooth and the hills beyond we found the traffic on the main road noisy.

Loved the friendly and warm hospitality of the staff and the most dog friendly place we’ve ever stayed at. Hotel room was very clean and modern, nice rain shower, food was good and it felt safe.

The shower took a minute to figure out. Some instructions in the room (perhaps on the wall) would have been helpful. But everything else was perfect!
