The room was bigger than I expected and very well furnished. The shower was very good, I liked the way the water temperature was shown on a digital screen. The bathroom mirror was so neat it was 24 hours before I noticed the on/off switch for the light! It was nice to have a view of some distant hills. The continental breakfast was enough for me and there was a very good choice of some very nice evening meals. The staff were very helpful as was the email beforehand to find the carpark around the back.

The television in my room lost the signal on a number of occasions, almost on a daily basis. The ceiling light near the window is too low, I hit my head on it a few times.

We stayed in the 2 bed house rather than the hotel. It was extremely well appointed and very comfortable. It looked very new and we have a few small queries that I will raise with the hotel separately but they did not impact our stay. It's just a couple of minutes around the corner and if you're lucky there's a parking space right outside. We parked in the car park over the road. Comfy beds and a decent shower, so all good. Tea, coffee, salt, pepper, washing up liquid, etc. were all supplied. Great for self catering. We were out too early for breakfast so we can't comment on that but our meal in the restaurant was excellent, as was the IPA. All in all a lovely 2 night stay, thanks.

From booking in and having an evening meal, all the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Booking in was quick, and a very polite and helpful young gentleman. The room was very large and clean and had a great nights sleep. Evening Meal great selection and first class service from all staff that served us. Breakfast, only had the continental, selection was sufficient. Also a very helpful manager, as we had attended the Dumfries and Galloway Fair, and on having drinks in the beer tent, ( non alcoholic) noticed the bar was being run by Nithsdale hotel, and on speaking to the person behind the bar, (said he was the manager), and on telling us that the entertainment would be great to see in beer tent at end of fair, as we had thought fair finished at 6 pm and had adviced hotel would be checking in around 6:30 and booked meal from 7:00 and he phoned hotel to put everything back so we could stay and enjoy the entertainment.

All the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The friendliness of the staff and we were made to feel welcome from the start. We arrived earlier than check in but this was not a problem at all. The food we had while we were there was exceptional. I had a Sunday roast with Gammon and my partner had the Braised beef both meals were delicious and brilliant value for money. Our cooked breakfast was also lovely and just what we needed to set us up for the next part of our journey. Our room was above the bar which we thought would have been a bit noisy but we did not notice any disturbance even though the woman's euro final was on. We will definately choose to stay again if we are heading through that way again.

The Nithsdale is experiencing some changes on the rear of the building and parking could be tricky however full instructions are given to help. The changes are all positive and will not deter us from visiting again.

The check in staff were welcoming, explained about breakfast / dinner etc. and showed us to our room. Our room was very clean, well appointed and comfortable. Having continental breakfast included in the price is great and the selection was fresh and tasty (cereals, toast, croissants, fruit, yoghurts). The location is great, close to everything and the parking was easy and secure.

It would have been great to have had soap for the sink in the en-suite. It wasn't clear at breakfast if the fruit in the fridge was part of the offering, how the croissants etc. could be warmed up and there was no bin for tea bags / food wrappers etc. The service at dinner was not great as we had to wait a long time for the plates to be cleared and get the bill but having dinner there was an optional extra. One suggestion is to have the restaurant menu available in the room / welcome pack.

Lovely friendly place, nice & clean & welcoming. I was a female solo traveller but on arrival the girl on reception gave me a double room upgrade (I'd only booked the single room) which was a nice touch. Food was really nice here in the restaurant. Room was lovely & clean & comfy. Also a lovely addition was Pepper the dog who is super calm & friendly. I will stay here again when I'm next visiting the area.

Only thing to note was music until 1am but it's a pub so to be expected, wasn't a problem for me but just to note if you are someone who struggles to sleep. (also may have just been my particular room)

"I had a fantastic stay! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure a great experience. The room was spotless, with a perfect temperature that made it feel incredibly comfortable. The shower had excellent water pressure, and I loved the convenience of having tea and coffee available in the room. The whole atmosphere was peaceful and cosy, providing the ideal environment to relax.

There was an unpleasant smell in the bathroom that was quite off-putting. I hope this can be addressed for future guests."

This was the second time we have stayed at the Nithsdale Hotel and it did not disappoint. The rooms are clean, airy and comfortable. The staff are exceptional. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing as was the service. The team of staff we encountered at breakfast and dinner service were so welcoming and friendly as well as being thoroughly professional. I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel and the next time we visit Sanquhar we will definitely be staying at the Nithsdale.

Our room was lovely, we had an issue with the television, but this was sorted. The food in the resturant was very good. The breakfast was continental which was plentiful. The cooked breakfast was available for £7.00 this was worth it, I woud have liked paoched eggs on toast but I thought £5.99 was overpriced. They have a Sunday carvery in the afternoon if you want one very reasonable.

The radiators were a bit hit and miss in our bedroom. This was not a problem or we would have complained.

Location lovely Staff friendly and attentive. Ease of check in . Room quirky lovely shower. View from window . Beds comfy. Lovely evening meal and breakfast was amazing a very tasty cooked breakfast along with continental . Not forgetting the lovely hotel doggie . Dining area was lovely

The only issue was no hairdryer in the room. Couple of spot lights appeared to be out. This did not detract from our stay
