Location ideal room was clean staff lovely and our room was massive
The single bed in our room was a metal framed guest bed with elastic as springs it was uncomfortable for my son hes 13 in mens L clothes 6ft tall a divan would have been better..the bed in our room was huge so we all shared ours instead and got a nice sleep..the bacon at breakfast was streaky bacon which is mostly fat not back bacon which l couldn't eat after having a stroke and instead of the vine tomatoes tinned would be much nicer...oh and the pool table should be free for guests to use not £1 a game lm sure for £160 a night it should be free however we still enjoyed our stay

Everything was fantastic. There honestly wasn't anything that I could pick fault with. Andy and his family that run is hotel are the most opening, down to earth people you could meet. Talk about accommodating, as there's no fridge in the room. We had to speak to Andy regarding my child's medication needing one. He made this so easy for us, and when we needed it at different times within our stay, it was never a problem at all. This was even to the point of him revolving his time around us. This family that runs the hotel are amazing people, even down to the 9 year old who helps server breakfast. To summarise, breakfast is lovely, all the staff are amazing, room great size, clean and comfortable. Pool, sauna, hottub brilliant. Honestly, Chapel House is the place to stay in Scarborough. 110% I would stay again.
The only little idea I would put forward is to have a mini fridge in the room. In our case, though, it is more because of a medical reason. This would have saved Andy (the owner) going out of his way for us. Which I would add was fantastic on his part, completely worked his time around us. 🙌

Was first a little unsure about booking due to some negative reviews but my word, I couldn't disagree more. Check in so easy with clear instructions for self check in. Communication with owners was so easy. Location is on a main street and owners kindly provided ear plugs but these were not needed. Room was clean and tidy and communal areas spotless. The breakfast was absolutely worth the stay alone!! Porridge is an absolute necessity to try ❤️ Owners absolutely wonderful and must say a huge thank you on behalf on my son too. Being autistic it can be difficult for him to settle in front of strangers but he was made to feel so welcome and even played tunes on the piano for everyone. Would definitely stay again 😁

Very well presented lobby & pool table with beer barrel tables & seats gave the feeling of your own private bar area (bring your own drinks) 😁 Room was basic but extremely spacious & clean. Great location for beach, promenade & shops/restaurants. Good communication regarding self-check in details. HIGHLIGHT **Beautiful breakfast with top quality local ingredients** Friendly breakfast staff. Free Parking discs very helpful when only required for 3hrs or less outside of the parking restrictions.
The self-check in is a bit confusing for people not used to this. Had to text owner to ask about where breakfast was being served & how to access pool at partner hotel. Being provided with this information prior to arrival would have been extremely helpful.

The location for what we were doing was great. On street parking next to the hotel so making unloading and loading of luggage easy. Large spacious room and a nice walk in shower. Breakfast was the star of our stay. All fresh locally sourced produce. Gets 5 stars from me. The porridge was wonderful. We will be staying at Chapel House on our next visit to Scarborough.
The only slight problem was the road noise but we knew about this when making the booking. Still managed to sleep ok, ear plugs are provided if required, a nice touch by the hotel.

The hotel is unstaffed, I received a text message on the day of the booking with full details of how to access the property, and where the room key would be available. The hotel is easily located on a busy local street with excellent signage. The parking is on street with an honesty box for the parking ticket, in my case it was £5 for the night, and there were plenty of parking spaces in an adjoining side street. My room was on the top floor, not a problem for us, but carrying bags from the car in an adjoining street, and climbing the stairs might be a consideration for some. The WiFi worked well, at a good speed and was free to use. The room was of a good size, clean, light and airy, obviously there was a little traffic noise, but traffic was light during the night, and didn’t bother me. The bathroom again was a good size, again clean, we didn’t use the shower, so can’t comment, the sink and hot water was sufficient for our needs. Electric power sockets, again this can be problematic in some hotels, but in my room there were outlets by the bed, and both sides of the room by the window. The room lighting was again excellent, with dimmable main lights, and bedside lamps. The tea / coffee making facilities again surpassed my expectations with ground coffee, both decaffeinated, and regular provided, with a nice cafetière. There were coat hangers provided for hanging clothes. I liked that the original character features of the room had been retained, with a fire place, and mantle piece, and a high ceiling. The only negative I found was a missing joining strip in the doorway to the bathroom, which looked untidy, and could be a trip hazard.

size of room was huge size of bath fantastic and nice TV Room was tidy After a terrible night one as wind and cold and banging window so no sleep we got wood for window and an extra blanket suggestion maybe add the wood with a note and extra blanket anyway
no takeaways in room had to sit outside in freezing cold once as it was raining as a £50 charge if a takeaway in room completely disgusting resoning is it costs more staff no you empty in to in bag then take down stairs if it was you drop food charged dry cleaning or to clean carpet fine all my friends and family have said because of takeaway rule it would be a 100% no stay from them no matter how clean and nice it is had we have known sooner we wouldn't have bothered going you are on holiday you eat out simple three flights of stairs with a ruptured ankle ain't the best we never knew sadly what floor we were on if a lift be fine suggestion maybe tell people no takeaways or a huge fine as I bet many would like to no before hand we would have

Bed was very large and extremely comfortable. Excellent breakfast, the best full English we've had for a long time. The hospitality tray in the room was very good.
As stated by other reviewers the traffic noise can be very loud, the problem being that the hotel sits on the corner of 2 busy roads and the windows are the original single glazed sash windows, earplugs are provided by the hotel. Not the hotel's fault but it sounded like whoever was in the room above us was running/jumping across the room from 6:30 in the morning until they went out a couple of hours later.

The room was lovely although didn't have a very good view. We looked onto the fire escape which all the paint was chipped and didn't look safe. There were no meals although according to the website meals were being served. The only milk was UHT or some sort of creme both of which my husband and I cannot stand so had to buy some fresh milk.
The bed was not very comfortable and when one of you rolled over the other person could feel it so not a good nights sleep. Also there was rubbish left in the bin in the bathroom and also some rubbish left behind the bedside cabinet on the left of the bed.

The staff were so lovely we bumped into them as we arrived they let us know where our room was and how to use the door ( they were doing some repairs on it and the lock was a little diffocult) the room was spa house and clean, the bathroom had both a bath and a shower plenty of clean towels were provided and a small space heated and a drying rack wich was incredibly useful as I did go for a swim
The location is a little far up from the front, it is a short walk but it is steep and down hill wich was very hard on my knees but I had no issue at all with the hotel itself
