Exceptional stay – truly felt like a home away from home! I stayed at Serenity Guesthouse and couldn’t have felt more welcome. Steve, the owner, is incredibly kind and attentive — from the first moment, he made me feel right at home. The breakfast he prepares is amazing, freshly made and delicious, you can tell he puts real care into it. Throughout my stay, Steve and his team were always one step ahead, making sure I had everything I needed. What really stood out was Steve’s fantastic knowledge of the area. Whether I was in the mood for a scenic hike, wildlife spotting, cultural sites, or just the best fish and chips around — he always had the perfect suggestion. A warm, personal, and relaxing experience — I would come back in a heartbeat!

The breakfast was amazing! Really great variety of food to choose from as well as a great cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for Steve and his team who were all very friendly. The location is perfect for a beach holiday. The room has all the amenities you need and tea, coffee, bottled water etc is replenished each day. I’ll definitely be coming back here to stay.

The seagulls are noisy but it’s expected so close to the sea and you soon get used to them.

Absolutely everything about the property, the public areas - lovely dining room , excellent clean & cosy rooms fitted out to a high standard , excellent breakfast - with very quick service. Lovely staff and Steve the owner was exceptional as a host, warm friendly, professional - with full knowledge of the buildings history which was very interesting. Very close to tramway, beach, bars & restaurants & shops, couldn’t ask for more . Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a lovely guest house in a great position being in south bay.

There was nothing we didn’t like - I will just add that parking is a little tricky, but you have to expect that when it’s street parking, & there are other places to park, round the corner, so it was not an issue for us, even though we did find a slot outside property & then just bought our permit for the day from our host Steve , so no probs 😊 xx

The locality was perfect. Stephen our host was very pleasant and helpful.. nothing was too much trouble ☺️ The breakfast was excellent value for money anything you wanted and the food was cooked to perfection.😄 The room was nice and cosy ensuite with everything we needed. Lovely comfortable bed. We went to the accomodation to relax and that was exactly what we did. Everything was on the doorstep or nearby . We spent alot of the time there in our room just relaxing only leaving to go for an evening meal . There is a hint there Stephen 😉 If you were to do evening meals we wouldn't have had to go out. Overall a very pleasant welcoming stay will definitely be back Thank you.

The only thing we didn't like was the seagulls which unfortunately no one has any control over them. The noise they made all through the night . As Stephen said after a couple of months you don't hear them. We were only there for 3 days unfortunately we could have quite easily stayed for longer if no work commitments.

Perfect location and easy to find. Close to railway station, main shops and a stones throw from the beach and Spa. The bed was very comfortable. Exceptional breakfast (paid separately) which was fab value, great selection and hot. Steve the host was accommodating and welcoming. The history of the Georgian property is written in a book by a previous owner with artifacts on the walls. A very interesting read indeed. Would definitely recommend and would stay again

We had a small rear double room overlooking the rear courtyard but was adequate enough. It was exceptionally warm but keeping the window open let the noise of the gulls in which are awake 24 hours a day!. Something to expect when so close to the beach so a small grumble only and certainly nothing that Steve could change.. However, a cooling fan was offered and we took advantage which was a godsend as enabled us to close window at night and have a good night's sleep. Earplugs are also available if you need a pair (we didnt).

Location was perfect. Steve the manager is outstanding lovely welcome & very knowledgeable about the area and the history of the building. Beds were comfortable and the room was spotless. Water & tea and coffee in the room replenished daily. The breakfasts were outstanding. Steve is a truly excellent chef! Everything seasoned to perfection and fresh. Staff all very warm and helpful and really looked after my elderly mum and I. Would definitely recommend & stay again if in the area.

Very small gripe was lack of hot water sometimes in the hand basin and the noise in the morning from the kittiwakes nesting on the buildings. Buy ear plugs from Boots.

Steve was very welcoming and friendly the hose itself is in a great location,the room was a decent size and very clean lovely comfy bed , breakfast was delicious plenty of choice would definitely stay here again .

If I did have to say anything it would just be our room no 5 is at the back of the house so the view wasn’t great but it was nice and quiet so we slept really well it didn’t really bother us but might some .

I had a lovely stay at Serenity Guest House. My room was spacious and very clean, with lots of daylight streaming in through the windows. There was plenty of tea and coffee in the room, which was nice, as I spent quite a bit of time in there, after my walks around Scarborough. The large tv was a real bonus.

Steve was a great host, nothing to much. Breakfast was well worth the price (£10.00) per person. Great location

We were given room 11 on the top floor, with partial sea view. Room was fine and great for people watching. The only downside was the bathroom was very dated. On speaking with Steve, he explained that rooms 11 & 12 are being refurbished end of this year. Parking can be a bit of pain due to location. Nothing Steve can do about this. You just have to hit on lucky as it's public parking (£7.00 per day). Steve has permits
