rooms were only cleaned once a week. After paddling I dropped sand on the bathroom floor and had to get down on my ...knees to clear it (i`m 98 years old. I couldn`t order wine in the dining room and had to get up and go to the bar to fetch it difficult while using a walking stick there was a havy door up a slope difficult to manage with a thge liuft door sometimes wouldn`t open and lift anbd main dorrs were once clsed making access difficult

Went to the bar to get some wine no staff a notice saying to go to reception for service two staff on there one customer was told someone would be there in two minutes waited another ten minutes which I was joined by two others also waiting to be served went back to reception and was told someone would be there when there was time to do bar work i found this very rude so a loss of customers as me and my husband left the bar and so did the others and retreated to the pub down the road we had been out all day and wanted to relax in the lounge as for my score on staff in general good but those two on reception on Saturday the 5th of October was poor

The Royal hotel is a besutiful oldHotel that as I write this is being painted & decorated....it must be quite old but is great value for money, a little tired in parts but obviously the tired parts are being sorted out....its busy serving food and entertainment, we have a lovely big double room comfortable with everything we need, and Im sure when we come back next year it will be back to its glory days....perfect location our room looks out to sea, Just perfect 🥰

Just a little tired in the bathroom, very clean, as I said, the Hotel is having a makeover as I write.

The overall stay was good, stayed many times before and this stay was spot on Again, Cheers!!!!!

Well a lot more cleaning in the room, bathroom and lounge type room we had, finger nails on the carpets, the bathroom basin and taps needed cleaning ,properly, a toilet brush is definitely needed ,cleaning around the walls directly in front of the bathroom basin, marks around tea making area and kettle, mmmm, think i have said enough for now , great place but a lot - some more time needed on relatively small things that a bit more time and care would easily sort it all out, Thanks , Michael and LYNN.

The hotel is a little tired in areas but still looks stunning inside to me. The patterned carpets throughout were complimented by flowers and the double staircase is fantastic. Staff were very helpful, polite, and informative. The room had an extra single bed in a little room of it's own, and I thought that was great if say I was sleeping badly due to not enough room or was snoring I could jump in the other bed and leave the Mrs in peace or vice versa. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here and for the price would definitely recommend.

Some areas of the floor in the halls and room had slight tilt or lean, big window in the bathroom had been painted shut and the small top window was broken so we had to use a toilet roll to prop the window open to let steam out.

The staff were all pleasant. It's a grand old building. There was entertainment on the 2 nights we stayed. I think the entertainment is Wed-Sat. We had dinner one night and enjoyed it. You can just pay for 2 courses instead of 3 which suited us. There's a pleasant dining room and bar area. There's also a very good outside space on the first floor overlooking the sea with a water feature and and some lovely plants. Our stay was good value and very reasonably priced. There's a small lift to enter the hotel if you use a mobility scooter or wheelchair and you can charge the battery inside the hotel.

Our room 314 was Ok and the bathroom was fine, but the room needs attention! There are 2 large stains on the left wall near the curtains. The whole room needs decorating! One of the curtains on the right hand side of the room isnt properly hooked up so the light comes in a bit. (A small thing maybe, but SO annoying and unnecessary.) The walls are very bare and desperate for some nice pictures. The bed is comfy but very creaky! There's no carpark. The small lift area where you can enter the hotel on a mobility scooter is FILTHY and desperately needs a clean up or a miracle!!!

A lovely building - walking through the main doors, you're met by a magnificent staircase. The whole building is steeped in history. I had a great deal on my single room. Bed was very comfortable, room was nice. Tea & coffee in the room plus a desk. A big radiator ensured it was warm. A freeview TV on the wall. Plenty of power points too. Nice bathroom, plenty of room, bath & shower. Yes the building is old, but you get what you pay for. Lovely staff, great room, central location. Great value for money.

A little bit noisy from the street, even 3 floors up, but its a town location, so its to be expected. Parking is limited if you come by car.

Had a wonderful last minute stay at the Royal. The very lovely gentleman on the desk upgraded us to a suite which was very clean and had an enormous bed. Amazing facilities and so much character! There was a karaoke night going in the first ballroom (with stage) when we arrived back and it was great to see everyone having such a good time. 10/10, best night's sleep we've had in ages!

The property is vast and was undergoing some maintenance but we think it added to it's quirkiness! Was a little tough to find parking of an evening but the stellar gent at the desk did direct us to an NCP.

The hotel staff at the reception were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. The hotel looked lovely with all of the Christmas decorations.

The radiator in the room only came on for a short amount of time so we had to use an electric radiator. Attention to detail, the little things, such as the beds not been made up neatly, the picture on the wall hanging on a side, items left in hallways, a smell of sewage in the hallway and an area of damage in the hallway not repaired. It's just these little things that lets it down which is a shame.

The hotel caters for dogs and we had taken our dog on this occasion. The hotels location was great.

Our room seemed to have a defect on the floor and wasn't level and unfortunately the position of the bed ment that one side was higher than the other because of the floor not being level, very strange trying to sleep in a bed like that.
