Broken lift. No direction from reception staff on how to get to our 4th floor room, using the alternative lift that took us to the other end, our room number was not sign posted from there. Were not told it was a buffet style evening meal. Couldn't work the coffee machine

Ideal location for a music event at the Spa, but also 2 mins walk to the bustling town centre and 5 mins to the sea front. Tidy and clean, staff polite and welcoming, facilities in room as expected. Lovely old building with some beautiful features ie staircase. Has had improvements since I last stayed a few years ago.

For what we paid it is what we expected, would love to see the tired hallways done up properly, but appreciate its a balancing act with the old character hotels in a northern seaside resort. Would stay again regardless.

The hotel location, the staff were very friendly. The hotel decor was beautiful. The food was nice, with a good variety each day.

Unfortunately there was no entertainment during our 3 night stay. We found the bed a little bit hard. There is no air conditioning in the rooms. This something the hotel could look into due to the extreme warm summers we are now experiencing. The only other downside was a small amount of housekeeping. Part of the stairs handrail was sticky. There were parts of the room where dust was accumulating, i.e., the trousers press, which didn't look like it worked.

The Royal hotel is in an ideal location for the town centre and beach. The hotel itself, is absolutely lovely. Beautiful entrance to a grand staircase, lovely dining room and function room/bar. Breakfast was lovely with a great choice for a full English and usual breakfast options. We had a small twin room which was spacious enough for my daughter and me, nice large bathroom with bath and overhead shower. May be a bit basic to some but was clean and nice. Other features we used was the pool. Costs extra but it's worth it, good value for money. It's not a big pool but great for family time just to play in, not too deep either, with a baby pool too. Overall definitely loved our stay, will definitely look at booking here again in the future

Nothing here we could fault. Apart from finding the room the first time ( not seriously a problem :D ), but it was fine once we'd asked, it is well signed but we just a bit confused lol.

Easy check in at the time we chose, Booked a Sea room and the view was amazing and the room far exceeded our expectations. We couldn't have been more happier. Lovely friendly attentive Staff everytime we visit, they really can't do enough for you. We feel like part of the family now after so many visits.

Lift broke a couple of times, understandable due to age of hotel and how much it get used, fortunately it was fixed Quickly on both occasions, but it happens often so if you have mobility issues it's worth asking when booking for a lower floor room. Staff went out there way to help carrying bags up and down the stairs.

Beautiful hotel loved this historic building preserved Beautifuly. Clean in all areas we found staff very friendly and responsive which was fantastic the cleaning / housekeeping staff where very helpful. Our room was super and huge we had the top floor penthouse suite all in keeping with the style of this hotel really enjoyed our stay.

We only marked this hotrl down due to breakfast, or it would have been a 10 out of 10 for us. The only letdown for us was breakfast.. tho the breakfast was tasty had full English..there were some serials available.. Jams, bread, quasaunts, ect, and some yoghurt n fruit... The issue was cups ran out and was a wait bringing them back out fried bread ,scrambled egg and bacon ran out and was a wait on refilling those so breakfast was not smooth unfortunately but it was nice once it was refilled. Fresh pure juice is available and a good selection of hot drinks too .

The room was on the top floor, a bit of a hike but well worth it for the views from the windows . The room was comfortable and was adequate for our needs . Value for money , the Hotel has a wonderful entrance with a vaulted celing , the staff were polite and helpful . The location was perfect for us , near to town the centre and the facilities there. Parking was oposite in council run carpark , discounted daily parking ticket availible from reception. we stayed for two days and left the car parked and used the hop on hop of tour bus which id £4 per day and great value as it covers all the beaches. The breakfast was good , buffet style with plenty of choices . We enjoyed our short break , good price and value for money.

The pool and spa facilities are extra but not too expensive with a day pass. I dont have any negative comments as our stay was value for money.

rooms were only cleaned once a week. After paddling I dropped sand on the bathroom floor and had to get down on my ...knees to clear it (i`m 98 years old. I couldn`t order wine in the dining room and had to get up and go to the bar to fetch it difficult while using a walking stick there was a havy door up a slope difficult to manage with a thge liuft door sometimes wouldn`t open and lift anbd main dorrs were once clsed making access difficult

The small trip to the beach. Very friendly staff and my little boy loved the swimming pool. Coffee house was nice and lady was friendly who worked there. Enjoyed the exercise and entertainment was enough for us so I could get my son to sleep.. Enjoyed our stay..Was really happy that a got a small fridge which was perfect for my type 1 diabetic boy to store things.

Nothing really. Curtain was down in room but guy on reception did offer to fix it. Would be lovely if you could order room service in future. Was a little bit disappointed that the coffee house didn't do a full English breakfast..

Location was good

Went to the bar to get some wine no staff a notice saying to go to reception for service two staff on there one customer was told someone would be there in two minutes waited another ten minutes which I was joined by two others also waiting to be served went back to reception and was told someone would be there when there was time to do bar work i found this very rude so a loss of customers as me and my husband left the bar and so did the others and retreated to the pub down the road we had been out all day and wanted to relax in the lounge as for my score on staff in general good but those two on reception on Saturday the 5th of October was poor
