Rooms were nice and clean, very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and cheerful. They were happy to help whatever we needed. Like that you were lift to come and go as you liked with the swip card to get in. It was our 3rd time staying here and it was lovely as always. Breakfast was lovely and the young man was lovely and cheerful who served us as he was working the day before. Nice friendly atmosphere in both the hotel and pub.

There was not much room to move around the bed. We stopped in the twin room (1), but it was OK. I have limited movement in my legs. So I found it tricky, but I managed it, wouldn't stop me from coming again.

Everything was nice, clean, and tidy.The room was beautiful.Staff was nice and polite. Breakfast was good value and nicely presented with giving choice . All in all, we would come back. The location is great as the hotel is in the neighbourhood of the shopping centre,the railway station is 10 minutes away. Not far from our place we found a restaurant/pub called Carousel with nice food and nice staff.

The lift is a bit scary for me and the stairs a bit abrupt, but we managed. There are many cafes but they close quite early and there are not many restaurants around with good prices for food. There is one round the corner of the hotel but it is quite expensive for our budget.

Ideally positioned for our stay, the Dickens was a lovely choice of hotel. We arrived early and the staff were very accommodating with a parking permit for our car. Our room was on the third floor and fortunately there was a lift as my friend would have had a great deal of trouble climbing steps. The room was comfortable and clean, meeting all our needs and there even was a fan which we used as it was very hot and humid. All in all a very pleasant experience. We will return.

Air conditioning perhaps?

When we first arrived, we liked how secure it was the fact it had front door with a secure lock then another door after reception to the rooms with a secure lock, we like that we were given a room with a corner Seaview it was my partner‘s birthday and I paid a little bit extra for balloons to be done. We loved that the balloons and the efforts was taken in the consideration. I also liked that they have in the room and information board on everything about the hotel. I like the fact that the whole room had a map of Scarborough. The fact that the first day I had breakfast in the hotel I asked if they had any dairy free milk and they did not and the second day we went for the server told us they actually went and got dairy free milk they went out their way to get that for me very polite. I also like that trying to get to sleep was so easy like I would expecting with it been a pub to be so loud but it was actually not.

I wouldn’t particularly say I didn’t like this. All I would say is I would hope next time for more dairy free options in the hotel room there was normal milk for tea and coffee but there was no dairy free pots or options and it would be good to say more, dietary options, also one of the last days when waking up I woke up to my period and basically it was a bit on the bedding so when checking out I was honest about it and I had told the reception what happened and the fact I pulled the sheets off it’s noticeable for the cleaner and the woman who was on reception was a bit rude about it. She made me feel very uncomfortable and her words was “well now I’m gonna have to get someone clean it” and then rolled her eyes, I would’ve thought she would understood being a woman herself.

Great location, most staff friendly and accommodating, good pub attached, and the rooms were immaculate. Would definitely recommend for sure, and it was great value for money.

Our waitress on the 1st morning, did not appear like she wanted to be there. We had to keep asking for things, that really should not need asking for (like butter for toast, milk for tea/coffee) she really wasn't pleasant at all, and was not welcoming. Our order of 2 full English breakfasts was wrong as she didn't write down what we wanted, which made it hard work for the lovely chef. However the 2nd day waitress was incredible! This will NOT stop me from returning

Great town location above a busy bar open to 1.30am at weekends, great friendly welcome from a young guy on arrival, secure separate access to accommodation, small slow moving lift to the guests’ floors, rooms clean & well appointed, friendly breakfast service, and good cooked breakfast. All in all a great place with helpful & friendly staff.

The only downside was (outside the control of the property) the all night seagull noise - from the roosting on the The Grand Hotel. No roosting on the Dickens so really the Grand Hotel need to get their act together. I know it’s the seaside but the noise was disturbing.

Lovely little room, very cosy and comfortable bed had a nice night sleep. Bathroom was a good size with walk in shower. Cooked breakfast the next morning was lovely and great value for being included in the price of the room. Great location as your up in the town didn't hear as many seagulls thankfully from our room which was a bonus! Would definitely stay here again in the future.

There was quite a gap under the bedroom door from light coming into the room also noise from people talking in the hallway. But other than this, it was a lovely night stay and would definitely stay again.

spot on location for the town and tram or steps to beach area in minutes away. The room was spotless, bright and modern, bed was very comfy. tea and coffee facilities' in room. Nice soft white towels and toiletries. maybe if picky a shelf in shower would be helpful. the lady who gave the parking permit and the young man who checked us in were very professional and friendly. Breakfast was hot and freshly cooked, maybe a little basic and cheaper end products, but a great start to the morning. The price of the whole B&B stay was defiantly value for money The Dickens is top class and i will recommend staying here and hope to come back very soon . well done

not much to dislike really, the floors were a bit odd and squeaky and up and down in the room. The breaky could be improved but then the price goes up and the offering is still decent so lets say I LIKED IT ALL

location was spot on 10 minutes from venue. breakfast was great, enough of it. young man serving was friendly and efficient, room was small but adequate for the night, parking was a slight issue with permit parking at 6 pounds cost. sorted by the staff at hotel. all in all a good venue for a stay and just in right place for concert venue. plenty of cafe's around but most close at 3-3.30. not good when travelling.

Staff very friendly and helpful. They couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was excellent. Choice of cereal and juice then hot food cooked to order and served at your table. The Dickens is in a great central location. 10 minutes walk from the railway station and 10 minutes walk to Scarborough Spa. Rooms clean, fresh and modern with tea, coffee, kettle, hairdryer etc. Would highly recommend this place and would stay again.
