Nice n cheap. Comfortable bed. Very clean. Lots of towels left for us in the room. Heating was on so we were never cold. Not much noise from the bar. The live music on the Saturday ended at a reasonable time. I would have gone down and joined in, but we had a long drive. If I was in the area again I would come back.

The only thing was the walls between the rooms were abit thin. First night it was a quiet family which was fine. Second night it was a group of lads coming back from a night drinking, and we could hear every word. I would advise looking up some parking before leaving. There is a NCP carpark next door, but it is a bit expensive. No fault of the hotel, just something to note.

Great location within easy walking distance of most places ,The rooms are above the pub, which we heard no noise from, but it wasn't a busy night, the rooms are accessed up a couple of flights of steep stairs and the hallway could defo do with a lick of paint and a new carpet. Rooms 1 is compact, but fully serviceable, bedding and mattress comfy and clean , excellent clean shared facilities 2 toilets and 2 showers all clean and perfectly useable.. The rooms are dated, but a nice extra touch of tea and coffee tray was available. Stay here with an open mind. In my opinion we had an excellent one night stay for the price we paid.

I've visited Scarborough about 15 times over the years and always drink in the Black Lion, so I thought why not stay there. I'm really glad I did. Very comfortable bed in a decent sized single room that wasn't claustrophobic. Clean and tidy. Lovely staff, well kept cellar so the beer was always on point. Slap bang in the middle of the centre so close to everything. Lovely beer garden to enjoy the sun which luckily I had every day. Above a pub yet not noisy. Cafe right next door to go for a morning coffee and bite to eat. I would definitely stay there again without a moments hesitation.

The only negative I can even think of is the multi storey car park across the way is very noisy with a lot of beeps and chimes, but this is only the case from mid morning until the afternoon, and I was barely around then as I would imagine most holiday makers will be. Not the pub/hotels fault at all and only a very minor and inconsequential gripe. I just remember thinking at one point, do their machines have to be that loud?

In the town centre easy down hill 5 mins walk along pedestrianisation from buses and train station... excellent wifi ...very good value for money....big room... iv stayed at the Black Lion a number of times so I knew not to expect the Ritz so if you go with that in mind you won't be disappointed...

Just an observation..7 guest rooms share 2 toilets a separate large shower room and separate bath room pretty adequate....stairs a little steep for anyone with mobility issues other than that for the price you pay its excellent Scarborough is getting very expensive...

the location is great and the staff are fantastic and friendly. bed and bedding immaculately clean and comfy.

the stair ways and rooms are in need of a good old freshen up and some of the floor boards on the landing desperately need looking at they have been the same for the last 2yrs,doesn't spoil the room but a bit annoying if you happen to land on these middle of the night going to the loo. would like an ensuite but then the prices would go up.

If you're looking for a low cost, no frills experience in a perfect location, this is ideal. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable. The shared bathrooms are well kept and hygienic and there is a sink in each room so you can brush your teeth. There is a kettle in each room and some basic supplies to make a coffee which is nice, and a wardrobe for clothes.

The rooms are extremely basic, mine had a slight smell of cigarette smokes. Obviously if a shared bathroom is a problem for you, you won't enjoy this place. The check in experience is inside of a very local pub which may make some feel uncomfortable.

The pub was lovely and had everything we needed. The owners were very friendly, and we had a drink downstairs, which was cosy. The room was huge and had plenty of storage with a big tv. It's in a fantastic location, right in the town with everything within walking distance and an NCP car park nearby for parking. I took my little dog and 5 years old, and I would highly recommend it.

Pub and rooms were a little outdated, but it's what you expect from such a quaint little pub, and I do believe the owner wishes to refurb in the future. So don't expect lots of sockets, double glazing, or non squeaky floors, lol It was definitely worth the money, and we'll definitely stay again.

It was just what we were looking for for a 1 night stay the beds were so comfortable and very clean the staff were great very friendly the location couldn't have been any better and parking was easy too I'd deffo stay again with out looking anywhere else 😀

The only thing for me was the late night noise from other guests (not the pubs fault) but I am a very light sleeper anyway but it wouldn't put me off staying again

It was great- just as described and perfect for a cheap stay after a gig. Yes, an en suite bathroom would be great but it was cheap and cheerful and a separate bathroom wasn’t a problem for one night.

fantastic location, a little noisy but to be expected for a city centre, Was a little worried about the shared toilet and showers but its only like when you go camping. Really clean, comfy, large room. 20 mins walk from open air theatre, Would definitely stay again.

The TV remote was for a samsung tv but the tv in the room was LG. Didint really watch any tv to be honest but was the only niggle I could find.
