Great building, excellent decor and stunning view. Welcoming hosts. Honesty bar was handy for a drink in the evening as we prepared to go out.

The room we booked was quite small but we knew that in advance. We also were required to pre-book breakfast and indicate a time we were coming down, which would have been fine, however…. some other guests didn’t pre-book and arrived before us and the breakfast items we had ordered were given to them instead of us. Meaning we didn’t get a full breakfast. Service was slow because of this too, taking a half hour before we were served food. A drink was knocked off our honesty bar bill as an apology but this did frustrate us a little.

The hotel Helaina is a true jewel in the Crown of hotels. It is wonderfully furnished, with a homely luxurious feeling. The lady who was so hardworking, kind and accommodating, needs a round of applause, making us feel so welcome. The breakfast was a delight and nothing was too much trouble.

I had a beautiful stay in Helaina, I was on the 2nd floor, room 6, the hotel was very clean, the reception was warm, the staff welcoming and the location was beautiful. On our arrival the lady that attended to us was very friendly. The room was actually very small, there was no plenty of room to move around, but apart from that, I would recommend Helaina to anyone visiting. When next I visit Scarborough, I will definitely stay at Helaina.

We were met at the Helaina with a very friendly lady who soon had us booked in and gave us our car parking permits for our stay.The room was very clean,the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was immaculate . The cooked breakfast was of very good quality items and there was plenty of it.Also there was a very good selection for the continental option.Plenty of tea and coffee on offer.Emma who served our breakfast was very friendly and helpful.Our stay was brilliant and if we come to Scarborough again we will certainly stay at the Helaina

Excellent well run hotel. Very clean and the breakfasts are fantastic. The room was on the small side, but given buildings of this style, we expected that. Nice functional bathroom, with quality fittings and proper well installed tiles (the plastic cladding you often see is awful) Nice to also not see any mould anywhere in the shower area (bleach spray being used I reckon) It's amazing how many hotels don't have particularly clean bathrooms. All the staff were friendly and genuinely sincere and warm. Shout out to the specialist cleaning assistant. She was lovely and obviously is doing a tremendous job as stated. You can always pick up via the staff, that any organisation is well run from the top down, by how happy they are. The Helaina ticked all the boxes.

The room was a bit small.

We visited for the weekend for our anniversary. The room was lovely, a little tight to fit through the gap of the bed and wall if you're part of the chunky thigh group though. The place was spotless. The view was beautiful and location was perfect. The staff were welcoming and helpful, even when I called to request more milk in the evening, they very kindly and swiftly brought some up to the room. Ideal little place for a short stay.

We initially stayed in a room on the top floor (10). The proportions were good, bathroom nice, everywhere clean and the view excellent and it was very comfortable. I would say this room was worth the cost paid. The staff were fantastic, helpful and went out of their way to provide a great service. So well done to them.

Those stairs were a killer. Top floor was 3 flights of stairs, with no lift available, and after a day of walking in the sun this was a challenge. We moved to a smaller room on the second day as we decided to extend our stay and this was all that was available. This was room (7) on the second floor and the room was pokey, small and cramped. The shower was tiny. Views were still good but this room was considerably overpriced, uncomfortable and was disappointing.

The room was beautifully decorated, the bed was very plush and comfy. Nice bathroom with huge soft fluffy towels and plenty of toiletries. Two lovely chairs near the window, we loved looking out at the sea view.. Breakfast was nice, plenty of cereal, fruit. Yoghurt etc and a good choice of cooked breakfast too.

Creaking floor from above, I would go for top floor next time. Bedroom a bit small, OK for us but anyone larger built would struggle.

The address on the website needs amending for anyone travelling from outside Scarborough- we wasted 10 minutes looking for Blenheim Terrace!
