Everything was just perfect, the park for a good walk was 1 minute away, the beach front was 3 minutes away, the list of attractions at the front of the hotel was catered for everybody with everything you could think of. Joe was amazing interacted with us throughout our stay, making sure we had everything we needed, he even completed the games room so we was able to go and play pool as it was being refurbished. You can take your dogs, and even though it isn't bed and breakfast you have all the facilities and a full kitchen to be able to cook if you wanted. We will definitely be returning.

Nothing to complain about. About 8 mins on foot from the train station. About 5 mins downhill to Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Paid £62.50 for one night, which is a bargain in this day and age! My room was more akin to an aparthotel. It had a separate kitchen area. The bedroom was huge (1 double bed and another double bed/bunk bed). As it was only me on this occasion, the bathroom size was adequate. Special thanks to whoever does the cleaning. I couldn't find a speck of dust!!

The fridge was a bit noisy. In due course the owners may be thinking of upgrading it?

Breakfast wasn’t an option during the period of my stay & I think was likely because it was ‘out of season’. The room was a good size for me, clean & fresh. I saw staff the night I arrived, a Thursday evening, & staff were present during Friday & Saturday but I saw no one else for the remainder of my stay, which ended this morning Tuesday. The staff were very helpful & attentive.

I didn’t like that there was no hairdryer automatically left in my room as had to leave one morning with wet hair as when I asked staff for a dryer, I was told they “would have to ask the owner” for one &, as I was in a hurry, I didn’t have time to wait.

Excellent location in a quiet street with ample free disc parking until 12 midday the following day. We had just booked The Meltham as a last minute get away for one night without doing much research as reasonably priced properties in Scarborough seemed in short supply. The property far exceeded our expectations at this price point. Our room was on the ground floor at the rear of the property with a large frosted double window allowing in plenty of sunlight. It had a large comfortable double and single bed and ensuite bathroom with a good hot shower. Our host Joseph was really welcoming from the outset and full of handy tips regarding local amenities. Another plus on a warm summers evening was being able to sit out on the front terrace and enjoy a glass of wine before heading into town. All in all The Meltham was an excellent choice for a short stay in the resort and we would not hesitate to book it again.

There was nothing not to like at this price point.

This is one of Scarborough's best kept secrets. Although it's a 20 minute walk from the railway station, to get 2 nights here for £83 when there are events on at the Open Air Theatre is unbelievable value for money.The room was huge, the bathroom was too. Spotlessly clean and 5 minutes from the beach, what more do you want? The shower was easy to use too.

Only the most nitpicking would criticise this place. I'm not going to do that, I just couldn't.

Spacious and clean twin room, with really comfy bed and nice bedding. The bathroom was spacious, too; and I really appreciated having a little hallway of my own (with coat hooks - so often overlooked!) that came off the landing, which added to the privacy, peace, and quiet.

Check in was a little slow, inasmuch as it took a while for someone to come to the door. But it wasn't so long as to be a problem; just worth knowing it might take a moment or two to do this.

The host generously provided us with a parking permit so we could park on the road outside. The room was clean and looked after, with tea and coffee facilities, clean en suite, with good TV and WiFi. The checkout time was flexible and there was no formal checkout, just left the keys on the side when you left. We only saw the host at check-in but he gave us their mobile in case we needed them at any point, very welcoming all in all.

Not much soundproofing between rooms. You don't get much of a view, such is the location, but once you're outside you're only a few minutes from the seafront with the very pretty Peasholm Park nearby too.

Joe met me at the property and was very friendly, efficient and amenable. The bathroom in the room was larger than the one at my house (!) and decorated in a lovely, nautical blue theme. And it had a bath with a shower over it so it was nice to have the options.

I had purposely booked a Double Room because I only own a single bed, and it's nice to have a giant bed when I'm away on holiday. However, I was put in a Twin Room instead, which was still really lovely and comfortable, but not what I was expecting.

The staff were very helpful indeed. My room was very clean and comfortable, and looked freshly decorated. The bathroom was perfectly adequate and again very clean. The shower was a little dated and not very powerful, but I understand the owner has a programme to update facilities. The location was excellent for my work commitments, and I noticed that the cricket ground was not far away. I would be very happy to use this guesthouse again.

Check in easy, nice and clean, very quiet, comfy bed, free on street parking with a parking disc from the hotel, great location a few mins from the open air theatre and north bay area....uphill on way back, but that wasn't an issue for us
