I had a lovely stay with my daughter at the Albert & Victoria in Southport. The location is perfect, right in front of Funland and surrounded by plenty of places to eat, so everything is within easy reach. The building has a charming old character and my room was nice, tidy, and well-kept. I was originally meant to stay for 3 nights and then check in at another hotel (Richmond House Hotel) but due to a mishap with my room there, I was told I could remain at the Albert & Victoria (as both hotels are under the same owner and management). This turned out to be a fortunate turn, as the Hotel Manager Chris, was incredibly accommodating, pleasant, polite and made sure we were looked after. He even carried our luggage up the stairs (no lift) and ensured we were comfortable. Staff kept my tea and coffee fully stocked. My daughter managed to get some much-needed rest, and we both felt very welcome. Overall, a comfortable and convenient place to stay.

Once my daughter and I experienced a bit of noise from the room above, it was dealt with immediately once I mentioned it, thankyou. While the hotel has plenty of charm, a small touch of upgrading in some areas would make it even better.

Lovely place, simple and homely but spotlessly clean. I had a small and basic but comfortable room with a great hot shower and a comfortable bed with Freeview TV. Well located round the corner from Lord Street (main esplanade) and some pleasant pubs and hostelries plus takeaways. It's also overlooking the Victorian gardens and Marine Lake with the (partially open) pier close by. When I arrived, a quick phone call and a very helpful young woman told me which Lock Box my key was in and where to go, where to find my room etc The manager was very thoughtful and accommodating especially when I found I needed to extend by a day, and the Cooked Breakfast they do here is legendary...gotta be tried... I found out why when I tried it, with veggie and healthy options included! This place is kinda hard to describe - no frills or 24H services, but very well kept and comfortable and I made a good decision staying here. It was quiet and peaceful too. I'll come again!

Nothing negative to report - I loved it all, it's everything you need without extras you don't, it's well priced, no 24H services (and ensure you have a little credit on your cellphone when you arrive in case the reception staff are out) but a kind owner and a thoroughly legendary breakfast!

The room was very nice, pretty spacious considering there was two of us. The bathroom was a tad small but no biggie at all it had everything we needed and the shower was pretty good too! Honestly it was a delightful stay, I love how close the hotel was to everything we needed (a supermarket, a surplus of places to eat, lovely walks, the train station, the beach, everything was so easily accessible!!) Each time I had to go to the reception the staff were lovely; had an additional issue which came later when we were on our way home where my partner had left something rather important in our room and they found it and are keeping it safe for it to be sent back to him soon :) Overall a really lovely stay, very considerate staff on top of a really wonderful holiday!

We didn't see any staff, but had clear instructions on how to access our room. It was very basic, but had a fridge and a microwave, which was unusual but useful. The room was lovely and warm, as we stayed at the beginning of January when it was freezing outside. Good value for money.

It's an old building and some damp issues in the bathroom. One of the pillows was very stained, but we bought some new ones, as not enough pillows for our liking. The beds were a bit lumpy. Could do with new mattresses I think.

The location was terrific. The staff were great. I asked for extra pillows and got 2, no problem. Also hairdryer on request from reception. We had breakfast too, which was excellent. You can ask for whatever you like, and if they have it, they cook it. Disappointed to find no one on reception and a key safe on the wall. We had to follow instructions over the phone to find our room, through a laberynth of corridors. We got what we paid for. Cheap and cheerful.

The location was amazing and the single rooms were excellent value for money. The beds were extremely comfortable and slept like a log! The staff were very friendly and helpful.

For the money we paid, I can't fault our stay. We were out all day and the hotel was simply a place to sleep. The single rooms are ideal if you're simply looking a a place to shower and sleep in a top location. I wouldn't recommend the single rooms if you were planning to spend a considerable amount of time at the hotel. This isn't intended to be a negative comment by any means, the rooms were perfect for our requirements. We would certainly stay again!

Great place to stay, excellent location for all the best to visit parts of Southport. Off street private car parking at the property is a real bonus. I don't know if all rooms have the mini kitchenette set up, the ones we have stayed in have and we have enjoyed them as a great enhancement to our stys.

The only slight disappointment was the last room we stayed in had a noticeable smell of old cigarette/tobacco smoke, this was probably due to the window being above the side entrance door where people stepped outside to smoke & the smell must have risen up. A good long airing of the room before occupancy might help solve the problem.

Room was small but fine. As a listed building there were things that need to be done but would be extremely expensive ie new window. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was excellent, you can book breakfast if you wish. . Found the bed comfy. To say it was on the promenade it was quiet. Short walk on to Lord Street. Bathroom small but had everything you need. Plenty of hot water. Tea and coffee in room. Good there is a small car park at the front for about 9 cars .

Nothing much the front and entrance is a bit off putting as needs a lick of paint

I loved the property because it was designed for both disabled and non disabled as my mother in law hasn’t been away in ages and it’s hard to find something for her with ground access the hotel is close to all amenities which is fantastic so only walks away from shops restaurants bars amusement park everything well situated we enjoyed are stay the hotel staff couldn’t do enough for you so helpful we didn’t have breakfast but plan to as it smelt amazing 😂we have booked another two trips so will be trying breakfast 🍳

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the property

The room was lovely and clean also the heating was on so it was lovely and warm, Staff are friendly and helpful. The location is brilliant for the price as it's just across the road from the prom. They do breakfasts at great prices but I'm not a great eater when I first wake up. There was no noise from others. I'll def be back. Oh and I noticed there's a car park at the front.

That my insomnia kicked in, but that's not their fault lol.
