Our stay in Royal Clifton Hotel was amazing! I have booked Standard Double Room and the room, we got was Double Suite, a spacious room with a wonderful view to the King's gardens with the lake. There were beautiful flowers and bushes. We were very satisfied with our room and the view. We booked bed and breakfast but also decided to have a dinner twice. The hotel staff were very flexible, we could just book our dinner when we needed in the reception. I liked that they were also very friendly and supported my dietary preferences when I asked for non dairy milk. Especially, the chef Ula went extra mile and recommended some places around to visit. She also offered an ice cream in the hot weather. Really nice gesture. And great service. They had printed menus for breakfast and dinner, only I would suggest that especially for dinner the food is labeled, so guests know if it is vegetarian, vegan, or meat. Also having non-dairy milk ready so guests have a choice. More choices of bread, wholemeal or sourdough would be also vital. Generally, we were very satisfied with our stay, Royal Clifton hotel in Southport was an ideal location for us to explore beaches and other places around. We loved Formby beach and also visited Ainsdale beach. I would definitely recommend staying in this hotel and would like to come back. Thank you for your great service.

The windows could be cleaner.

The refurbished rooms are so much better than they were and very comfortable. The lounge and bar area is lovely, we had a great time there as a family group and was good that the bar was open till a reasonable time, not 8pm like the last time we came! All the staff we seen were very good and helpful.

What was a big let down was being told there was no evening dinner after me specifically e-mailing weeks before to ensure there would be and being told yes, there was eleven of us so surely this could have been catered for. We had to go over to the Prince of Wales for dinner which was a struggle for my 80 year old brother.

This is probably the 12th time i have stayed here if not more. Would not go anywhere else. Yes its an old hotel, undergoing renovations but it has character. Staff are amazing, rooms are comfortable and clean.

There is nothing I don't like about this hotel. It is old and quirky.

Nothing really, if I was being pernickity we had to pay for parking at the hotel. £10 for 24hrs if you use the machine outside but £5 if you're staying there. 0

The rooms were big and airy with the hotel being in an ideal location to visit Southport and the surrounding area. The room was clean and the staff were all helpful.

Property was being refurbished which we were not aware of so that would of been nice to have known prior to visiting as the fencing in the car park made the hotel look a bit inhospitable from outside although once inside, all was pretty ok. Rooms a little dated but that is probably why it is being refurbished. Only one pillow per bed, we had a twin room. I asked for a second and was given a pillow without a cover, being told housekeeping would be up to bring a pillowcase, neither materialised! Not really something we didn’t like about the property just a couple of niggles: No bath mat in the bathroom, which would of been a good idea as water from the shower seemed to go everywhere and no decaffeinated tea in the room or at breakfast although there was coffee available.

The staff were so lovely and helpful to me as I had travelled alone with my dog. They even looked after him for me while I went for my breakfast and never made me feel a nuisance for doing it. Room was very clean and spacious. Breakfast was so lovely.

The fact that some inconsiderate guests were singing and chatting loudly in the corridor for 3 hours til about 3am causing my dog to keep barking and stopping me getting to sleep. Even mimicking my dog yapping when they kept.going past my room. The windows could have been cleaner as I had a sea view room but they were very dirty.

The restaurant was closed for renovations, so we had to use the sister hotel 100 yards away, i was not told this before the booking as i would have booked the other hotel.

The room was pretty cold,with a radiator which was too small for the room,and did not seem to warm up. There was a small mobile heater as well, but the room was pretty large as my partner needed a scooter to get about. But the hotel was very nice and the staff helpful in providing the room with it's easy access. It's a beautiful hotel, but a bit old fashioned with the facilities.

Booked this very last minute and check in was very efficient. I think we had a refurbished room as it was beyond my expectations. Lots of tea and coffee supplies in room, no hard sell of add ons when checking in. Parking is only £5 aligned with the 1 nights stay. Location superb. I believe you can add time to the parking by paying at the meter outside. We didnt need breakfast here so cant comment on that neither the entertainment. Very happy with this booking as it was great value and no issues. There is at least one 24 hour car park a few metres away on the same road that is also reasonable cheap (if you cant find a spot here.

Parking is limited and can be tight for the less confident driver, but generally not an issue.

I absolutely love that this hotel has kept so many original features. it felt like a step back in time, it was so nice that the hotel had not gone modern like a lot of places. It was just beautiful and grand and had such a gorgeous feel to it. And I have to say SPOTLESSLY clean! Both mine and my mother’s room was so so clean. So big thank you to the hard working cleaners for making our stay extremely comfortable. And to all the staff who made our stay amazing, and for granting my request to have mine an my mums room next to each other, last minute. I very much appreciate that. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Southport. we will definitely be back :) thank you all at the royal clifton

Nothing negative to say we loved everything about it.

The hotel was old fashioned but spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff were polite and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for all local sights and amenities. We were checked in earlier than the stated time.

The only problem we had was we arrived early and parked the car at a cost of £5 per 24 hours and paid for the room. We then had a walk out and came back at the time we were allowed to get into the room. We asked at this time if we could book breakfast at a reduced rate for the following morning only to be told no as we hadn't asked when we paid earlier. It was very disappointing and we therefore went to Weatherspoons which is just round the corner.
