Great location. Comfortable room with tea/coffee making facilities. The beds were very comfy with pristine bedding. The host was there to greet us and he was very friendly and helpful. Having free parking was a bonus!

The only problem we encountered was the bathroom door. There was something wrong with the latch which resulted in my husband getting locked inside the bathroom for a good 10 minutes. Fortunately, as a last resort, he was able to shoulder his way out (without doing any damage to the door or himself). Had I been the one stuck inside it would have been a different story.

The room was newly decorated, ensuite shower has new tiles and an opening window. New mattresses. Bath sheets and good sized hand towels. Large room upstairs, new long drapes at the window plus blinds. Large guest lounge downstairs. Kitchen being refurbished, so no breakfast, but plenty of cafe's less than 2 minutes walk away. Wonderful location - all seaside amenities within walking distance, yet on a quiet road with parking. Hotel manager/owner very helpful and informative about the area. A bedside light wasn't working and he got it fixed by an electrician the same day, so very impressed.

The location of Clifton Villa couldn't be better. It is close to the seafront & town centre. Having free parking is useful as most parking nearby is paid for. The room itself was clean with everything supplied that you might need.

On my arrival the basin wasn't allowing water to run away but on informing the owner he had it fixed right away. The stairs to my room were very narrow & steep. The room was quite small which was fine for me alone but 2 people might struggle.

What a little gem of a place. It has parking for 6 cars and just a cockstride away from the main area of Lord St. My sister and I were welcomed by the owner who sat us in the lounge to fill out the guest info form and then helped us with our bags to our 1st floor family room. It was very spacious, which is what we like. Right away, we could see how lovely, bright, and clean it was. Lots of attention to detail from our own towel boxes to the tea/coffee tray with biscuits and 2 bottles of water. The shower room wasn't too big but exceptionally clean with a large mirror and all the amenities. The single and double beds were really very comfortable. The bedlinen was crisp, fresh, and perfectly made up. The TV was a good size, located perfectly for viewing. The owners made a great effort to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Anything we needed was just a text away and answered very promptly. We will certainly be booking to stay here again and would definitely recommend any visitors to Southport stay at Clifton Villa.

There was absolutely nothing we didn't like about Clifton Villa

The person who runs the hotel come day or night, any problems he will be there to discuss it very friendly decent size room and best of all very clean. There will be people that always say you get what you pay for in Southport there are some good hotels there are some bad hotels and there are some average hotels in my opinion I didn't hear any noise there was no banging no shouting overall it was a pleasant stay

There wasn't that many things that I didn't like there was a lounge at the bottom of the stairs when you first walk in I would have thought that they would have been like a little TV there for guests I noticed a few guests that were there were just sat there and I even ask them what is it missing and they said a small little TV so we could watch it we don't go out anywhere at the weekend we just needed somewhere to stay I thought I get that because its nice and comfy down there Even if they get a kitchen sorted out where they do sandwiches or something like that it's like I don't know if they have the room down stairs but breakfast maybe offer sandwiches

The hosts were lovely. The location was great with a 2 min walk to the lake front and only a few minutes longer to Lord St. I would definitely stay again

I had an attic bedroom, which was fine just a little bit too warm. They did provide a fan and the room had 2 windows so it did eventually cool down. It was really hot weather when I visited so it would probably have been OK in our normal climate

Extremely comfortable room in the centre of Southport. A few minutes walk to the station and a few minutes walk in the other direction to the Promenade. The bonus of free car parking plus an exceptional comfortable bed. Quiet location despite being central. The room was cleaned to a very high standard with good facilities provided. Powerful modern shower. I will be back!

The room was lovely. Nice big bay window. Large bathroom. Clean and tidy room. Kettle, tea, coffee etc. were provided. The towels were big and fluffy. The room looked newly decorated making it light and airy. There was a nice lounge on the ground floor that you could relax in. The beds were comfortable with white bedding. The location was excellent making everything easily accessible. There was enough parking for about 8 cars

There could have been a few more coat hangers but I took my own.

Town centre parking was ideal for our needs. A quiet location only slightly affected by late night street noise. We were met and greeted by the proprietor and our host made us feel most welcome with helpful advice about the area. The facilities were as described and everything worked efficiently. The lounge was a bonus that we hadn't expected - well decorated and cosy.

Nothing to dislike

We stayed in two small double rooms for two nights over the Grand National meeting. The owner/manager was extremely welcoming and helpful, the rooms were compact but perfectly clean and well fitted out, the shower was small but very efficient. The tea/coffee tray was a welcome addition. The hotel is perfectly positioned for the station and Lord Street, and very good value for money.
