Bed fairly comfortable. A four poster Nice view from the window. Staff very nice and helpful. Lounge area nice but very quiet.

Not organised for breakfast due to low numbers in hotel. I had cereal and toast with marmalade. My husband was made some scrambled egg on toast. Tea and juice. Bath with shower over not able to use. Room had very old curtains not easy to close ...that had a lot of dust at the top and along the skirting boards. Also, lampshades had lots of dust. I have asthma and felt this room was not as fresh as should have been . It needs a good hoovering to get rid of dust and cobwebs over the curtains and the bathroom door. Obviously in need of renovating the whole building and this has big costs . I am sure if we come again in a few years it will be more updated. We did an upgrade room and breakfast..... so felt it should have been better.

Loved everythin except it was to hot in the room it was that hot we opened the windows and they wouldn't stay open at all as they were keep dropping down shutting . It was a great atmosphere day and night until we couldn't sleep because of the music from the bars. The staff are brilliant and always have a smile on there faces ect and always a great welcome and there to help you to .

The room was to hot and it was no air at all . Couldn't sleep at all because of the music going on from bars until stupid o'clock in the morning so didn't have much sleep Friday and Saturday night. And no cash at all could only pay on card, even the bars so wasn't many in them they only had a few customers in them between the two bars it must 10 or 15 customers if that. And that will be because of the payment as you got to pay on card . and most probably a lot people found some where else to go to have a drink. The bars in hotel wasn't as busy as they normally are and that will be because of card payment only. Mist probably alot of people will have the issues about card payments especially when you get money out of bank to spend .

Here goes. This place was clean, welcoming and pleasant with a decent comfy room where I got a hot shower and a good night's sleep. An old Southport institution, there are efforts slowly grinding forward to return it to its former glory. The staff were all very nice and helpful indeed. There is a nice lounge with a view of Southport's Lord Street and a hunting-lodge themed bar I found pleasant and welcoming, I admit the themed Irish bar looked a little tacky snd out of place but I didn't hang out there. I had a decent meal which was equivalent in quality to one of the better Wetherspoons or Toby Carvery type places. I will be pleased to come back here - just see my comments below, which mostly are NOT criticism. Again the staff were top notch and so helpful and one made it possible for my wife and I to have a drink on our anniversary which was so welcome and thoughtful

OK this place does have a slight hint of Fawlty Towers about it, but much of it is undeserved or misunderstood. An ambitious renovation plan had already started. Some things (like the electronic door key cards, which often fail) haven't been addressed so I think some staff have kind of accepted it with a sort of exasperation and resignation. The staff receptionist chef, cleaner, bar staff, all absolutely wonderful people. I have worked in this industry for over 30 years. Never, have I met such a wonderful group of kind, helpful loving people. I love my stay here, I always stay here every time I am in southport

I asked for extra pillows, I received them, I asked help, received it, I loved my free upgraded room on our second night The particular liked the lady manager. Long blonde hair. Slim very attractive Very good manager. Very good personality and mostly able to direct, She was wonderful AS IS ALL YOUR STAFF. TOTAL CREDIT, to your establishment Also, my room was absolutely spotless

We go here because we can take our dog.It is in a great location too.We had a lovely big room.Staff were very friendly & helpful if needed.No one bothered you at all.Plenty of tea, coffee & milk & the price is good.

For the price it is very good but it does need a better cleaning & the bedding & towels didn't have the greatest smell even though they were clean.It is well dated & it could do with a revamp & brighten up.It doesn't look welcoming from the outside.

It’s central warm clean we had room 405 which is the same room as the last stay even in side the kettle was spotless gallons of hot water the staff Sam and Georgia was excellent .A bit disappointed wen front lounge bar closed at 7 pm New Year’s Eve but there were bars up stairs I will use this hotel again parking at rear of hotel All Ivan say me and my partner hide a excellent break 10/10

Very Clean Building inside abd very Grand. Our Room was recently decorated and very clean and perfect temprature with a large and very comfy bed. The reception Lady was very polite and happy and asked us if we needed any extra milk of coffee and wished us a very happy and comfy stay.

There was a Young Man on Reception in the morning who had clearly not ironed his shirt which did let the hotel standards down a little, we paid to have a breakfast and was greeted with a young lady who was there to clear up after people, she was more interested in her mobile phone than paying attention to the diners and when she did pay attention it was only to come and remove our plates before we had even finished our drinks.

Not stayed here for years as it seems to get more rundown every time I did (over 10 years ago now). However they seems to be improving the rooms, my single room was superb and with a brand new bathroom. I think it would have been better with just a shower rather than a bath/shower, but it was all ok. Had a very early departure so no breakfast. Location of course is excellent, right in the middle of Lord Street.

Table in the room was a bit small and with the TV and Kettle etc. could not work on my computer there. No free wifi in the room but I just plugged my phone into my laptop.

Friendly staff I liked how neat and spacious the rooms are, fantastic for few nights during the week. I stayed with my daughter and she loved it. Huge wardrobe to put clothes away, enough drawers to store away bits and bobs, the bathroom and separate seating area along with tea station, brilliant. Each floor has somewhere to sit and relax too. I did not try the breakfast as I booked elsewhere but thankyou for a lovely stay.

The corridor smelt odd, could be the carpet as it looks very old, so may need to fit some new ones.

Was a great location on lovely picturesque road with plenty of bars and restaurants.Short walk to promenade and only 10min to seafront.A few minutes to town centre.A couple of good bars in hotel,nice lounge area where they had free entertainment of a evening.Had the buffet breakfast once which was very good lots of variety well worth the £12.50.Easy access to room via lift or stairs.Some lovely decor on each floor showing history of the hotel.

Unfortunately they don’t do a Sunday roast dinner,so had to venture out to get one 🤷‍♂️
