During our stay, we have received exceptional service from front desk, restaurant staff, and night security. In particular, Steve & Simon at night, and Rachel at Reception. Indeed, they made our stay feel like home as they go above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable over Christmas For example, Steve made me a cup of tea at 3am (as I was jet lagged, could not sleep, and did not want to wake my wife to make a beverage). He also informed bar staff that he would "close out & clean up" after letting me watch my home NFL team the Seattle Seahawks after the bar was closed. Rachel provided us with service and assistance that was more commensurate with the concierge at The Langham, New York rather than a desk clerk, and enthusiastically attended to our every need. I have never experienced such a professional and friendly team of people in a UK hotel!

Would love some healthier food choices on the restaurant menus.

I have stayed at Village Hotels before, so I chose this hotel because I know they are of a high standard. My room was spotlessly clean, the hotel itself is very well maintained and clean, the bed very comfortable, and I slept very well. The restaurant offers a good menu for food and drinks, and the breakfast provided is very, very good.

The only thing I didn't like, and it is not the hotels fault - is people coming down for breakfast in pyjamas and dressing gowns - this is not acceptable, or people sitting outside smoking wearing nightwear and dressing gowns. When did we become such a nation of slobs!!! Maybe the hotel should put up a notice saying you have to properly dressed while in public areas!! Also families who let their children run around the breakfast room, and they finger all the bread, croissants etc!!! This is disgusting, parents need to be told that this is not acceptable!! Like I said, the above is not the hotels fault, but sadly maybe if this is becoming the norm, then it has to be addressed.

The size of the room was great and with a large ensuite. The bed was very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was very generous with a good, varied selection of food on offer. The Pub and Grill was excellent and the staff very professional but also friendly. A bar staff member Charlotte was exceptional, very courteous and attentive especially as I am registered disabled. The staff on reception were very helpful and polite. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone including family and friends .

There was nothing that I disliked. I could not find fault with anything.

Value for money stay

The room I stayed in was on the second floor, above the exercise room. You could hear the music from the exercise rooms early in the mornignand in the evening. Perhaps improved soundproofing to th vrooms on the second floor can be introduced. I booked accommodation in November, and the room I stayed in contained an all accessible bathroom. This is fine, however, would have preferred a normal bathroom. I did ask to change rooms, however, this was not possible. The reason provided was that I was provide my rom if there aren't others available. I boded in November for a January stay. Is this correct?

Very impressed with the staff throughout the hotel facilities. Thought there was a separate restaurant but more of a sports bar/pub on offer hence the wide selection of age groups but the food was excellent.

Loud music difficult to have a conversation. Gym members very in casual gear shorts and vest in groups shouting and sneaky vape in corner. Room had only 1 chair. Only mirror was in the shower room and no telephone to contact reception if needed. Not sure if this was because of ongoing refurbishment of 4th floor.

Room and bed very comfortable. Very clean. Breakfast was good as it had a selection of food that I was able to eat.

I would have preferred to have my gym/pool included in the price as I am an athlete and in training. I was disappointed that the room didn't have a fridge in it. I brought my own lunch & dinner with me (I am cutting weight), but had to throw it away as there was nowhere to keep it cold and it was the hottest day of the year that day!

The check-in/out area, well managed with friendly, helpful staff. The swimming pool and fitness area & staff.. The bar area with theatre-style seating to watch the sports on TV. View from the room, love the bathroom wall tiles very colourful & designery. Spacious room with sofa. Free parking at weekends. Shop a few minutes away.

The breakfast area doesn't function well. Requires improved management. The bedroom pillows.

The room was nice and big. The shower was a good size and the shower worked well. Plenty of tea and coffee. Clean and airy. Nice bar and friendly staff.

The breakfast was a bit too expensive. £17.50 per person, there was a discount of £5 if you paid when you booked the room. The food was pretty standard and although you can help yourself to more food - the average person would only have one plate and maybe some fruit/cereal. Still not £17.50 worth.

East to get to, plenty of parking. Good sized room and clean. Excellent check in support from staff. Excellent customer service at breakfast.

Poorly signed off main road to actual hotel - easy to miss if not from the areas. No decaff coffee in room. Food at breakfast was average. Quite a noisy hotel, I stayed on floor 2 and could hear footsteps above up until 5am. View from room - dismal.

The location, access and parking were convenient and close enough to both the city centre and motorway. Inside the hotel decor and style was modern, quirky with a friendly, pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. I particularly liked the cinema seats in the bar/lounge area which catered to those wishing to enjoy TV, eat or socialise. The room we stayed in was also aesthetically pleasing and the view from the window, especially at night was illuminating. The breakfast was fab and the staff were warm, attentive and pleasant. The most impressive part of the whole stay had to be the spa and pool. The facilities were excellent. It was well organised and the changing and shower facilities were very clean and roomy. The ambient lighting in the pool/spa area was majestic and the steam room, jacuzzi and relaxation loungers were excellent. The lifeguard made regular inspections of all facilities and conducted headcounts and also wore protective foot coverings which contributed towards the confidence of guests that the place was kept clean and their safety was also prioritised

For the size of the room, the bed could have been larger and it wasn't particularly comfortable. The meal in the bar was average and pricey for what was essentially average pub grub from a rather limited menu. Also, the mixed grill was unavailable. However, service was quick and staff were polite and efficient
