Donnington Guesthouse is on a very convenient location right next to a LIDL, close to Sainsbury's with a cash machine and at close range from attractions and the city centre. The area is comfortably quiet regardless of being on a central location. There was enough parking for all who stayed and the room was clean. There was also a fridge in the room.

I stayed from Friday to Sunday on a business trip. The electricity cut out on Saturday meaning I couldn't charge electronic devices and the food items in the fridge didn't keep cold. The guesthouse said they'll get an electrician. On Sunday the electricity was still off in the morning so I left as early as I could to charge my phone somewhere else and get coffee & breakfast.

Had a lovely 4-night stay at Donnington Guest House. Paula, who greeted me, was very friendly and welcoming. It's a simple no-frills place (no breakfasts, but that was clear from the booking site), in a very good location — not too far to walk from the railway station, free on-site parking (not needed in this case because I hadn't come by car, but good to know for another time). Room was comfy and well furnished, with a fridge as well as a kettle. Lidl and Sainsbury's within easy walking distance for supplies! This was a very convenient place to stay for an event I was attending (the Cornish Language Weekend) at the County Hall very nearby. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely consider Donnington again in future!

Only serious problem was that the bathroom basin and shower weren't draining properly the first time I used them. But I phoned the owners to report this and the man I spoke to was very helpful and assured me they'd get it looked at. The issue was fixed by the end of that day and there were no further problems. Well, I wanted a room for the night with shower and loo. I got all this, very bright and cosy (but a good blind for a dark night's sleep), but also (I was surprised to discover) a fridge, a microwave, and desk and chair by the window with a view of the city and cathedral in the centre of Truro! Was welcomed by proprietor, and then left to make myself at home. There's ample parking, if you need it, though I came by train. It is just 15 minutes walk from the station on a balmy evening. And 15 minutes walk into town for breakfast at one of the many cafés.

Minor detail, but batteries on the TV remote were running down (and couldn't get channel France24). But nothing else to fault.

That staff was lovely and friendly. The room was immaculate and care was taken to make it homey. Had a kettle, small microwave and a bar fridge. Cups / coffee/ biscuits and chocolates were lovely small touches. I could leave my luggage and across the street there was a grocery store. Bed was soft and comfy. Walkable to the main center, in 25 min but all uphill on the way back, just an fyi. But that’s Truro!

The shower was either freezing or boiling and did not stay at a moderate temperature. The main shower switch was like a light switch outside the bathroom- took me a while to figure that out…. Maybe mention that to the ppl in the room?

The location was great, the beds were very comfortable and with a bonus of free parking on site and a good size fridge in the room which if you were staying for longer than 1 night would be really useful. We were also able to park earlier than check in and just pick up keys so we didn’t have to come back to check in which was really helpful to us thank you.

We ran out of milk for the tea/coffee facilities so a bit more would have been nice. Because we booked 2 x twin rooms we were in the 2 separate houses but was not a problem for us and is obviously dictated by where the rooms are located.

The property was quiet, room 1 had a great view of the cathedral and the sunrise. Very spacious for one person, even for two, fully equipped, had everything you need. Lidl is just across the street.

If I had to find something negative, it would be that the shower support was not thoroughly cleaned and still had hair on it. I didn’t mind it that much, since the rest of the bathroom was spotless. Also keep in mind that if you don’t have a car, it is quite a walk until the top of the hill, but there is a bus stop quite near.

my husband and I like to stay just outside of city centers away from noise, and this location was perfect. it's about 5 min drive or 15 min walk to the middle of the city center and right across the street from an aldi. we had Room 1 which had such a great view of the city and cathedral! also a microwave and fridge so we were able to keep our grocceries fresh. staff were very helpful, and the room was comfortable and clean do note that if you enjoy walking, the stay is on a hill so you'll be walking uphill at some point if you've walked downhill to get around. great stay and value and would recommend !

we didnt dislike anything. but I'll just note that if anyone has mobility issues, I think all rooms are up at least one flight of stairs. also there was a ticking or dripping noise that was nonstop from about 8pm until 7am but it didn't prevent us from getting a good nights rest. it could have been pipes or external or another room, but it didnt keep us awake.

Although there was no breakfast the cafe close to the bus station compensated for that. As a traveller by public transport (I like to go places by bus),a hundred yards along the road by the big Sainsbury's you can head for St Ives, Falmouth Penzance etc,loved it 🕉️

I didn't like the fact that I tried to use Google maps to find the address which was not successful. Anyone going to the Donnington guest house from Truro rail station it's simple, turn right out of the station,walk up the hill to Sainsbury's, turn left and keep going. Ten minute walk. That's it really 🕉️

Originally booked for easy access to a works event which fell through, 2 rooms were booked and we continued with our stay regardless, having a well needed and well earned staff night out instead. The host was there to meet and welcome us to the property and was very warm and friendly, which gave the property a relaxed vibe. The rooms had all that was needed for an overnight stay and were clean and comfortable, with a few little extras which were nice. Although the Donnington is a little way out of the city centre, it was just a 10/15 minute walk downhill to the capital. The property is right on the main road and close to a couple of supermarkets for essentials and necessities anyway so was very handy for this purpose. Overall none of us (6 trainees turned partygoers) could fault the place, nor the stay, and if planning a night out in Truro again, would definitely check availability to book The Donnington in the future.

Room was cozy and had character. We appreciated having a small fridge in addition to the kettle. There is a Lidl across the street, so meals on the cheap were easy. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was large. Everything was immaculately clean.

It was a bit harder to reach by foot from the train station than we realized (especially with two suitcases each) as it is uphill. Be prepared to pay for a taxi if you are not traveling light or are not terribly fit.
