The staff were with one exception. Pleasant courteous and helpful. Lovely area .we were visiting Glyndebourne.

We didn't realise the distance we had to walk to our room. We are elderly and have mobility problems. . It was almost half a mile return walk to reception/ restaurant. We arrived for breakfast at twenty past nine. The brusque unhelpful young man in charge told us they were closing in ten minutes. It was all self-service, even tea and coffee and make your own toast There was a lack of plates and bowls. This meant several trips back and forth to the table which was another long walk. Trays would have been helpful. As a result we felt harrassed did not have the leisurely breakfast we usually enjoy. while on holiday. Very poor for a four star hotel. It's more like a canteen.

As a self service breakfast there was plenty of food available and covered all tastes. We had one dinner in the main restaurant which was well up to standard and one further dinner in the Hunnington Grill which was excellent. Couldn't find fault.

We were allocated a room that was designed for wheelchair bound persons. This had a very large wet room as bathroom. There was very little shelf room for individual bath products and no where tto hang the bath towels. There were placed on the shower seat. Whilst showering the towels had no where to go other than on the floor which got very wet as the floor seemed to slope away from the drain hole. We had to add a balcony chain into the room to keep everything else dry.

Great hotel in a great location.

When I went to have dinner, I was told I was on a dinner, bed & breakfast deal, I questioned this as I didn't think I booked it that way, they confirmed that yes I had. Because of this I ordered off the menu that was included rather than just having one course, I had two, I could have had three on the deal but was full. When I went to pay, expecting only a drinks bill, I was asked to pay for the everything, which was higher than the allowance I had been told, I did say I was told that I was on DB&B, they just came back with sorry you were told wrong. A little annoying but the food was good nevertheless.

It is very spacious: large, airy foyer, large rooms. The hotel is built on a generous basis. We loved the quiet location on the edge of the golf course. Lovely views across wooded countryside to the hills of the downs beyond. And it has a good restaurant- 2 this time as the restaurant in the golf Club House has been opened to the public since our visit last year. Plenty of parking. The breakfast is always good but it can be busy.

There are not many places to sit outside so if there’s a conference or wedding it can be difficult to find a spot at lunchtime. Some more benches in the hotel grounds would be appreciated. The restaurant is noisy - it is self defeating to play music as the customers just talk louder to be heard over it and the noise escalates. Turn off the background music please and let us have peace.

Breakfast was very good. Our room was also very good... clean with nice furnishings, and the bed was excellent. The surroundings in the hotel were good.

We had an evening meal on one evening, and were very disappointed. The food was not served as it had been ordered, and a replacement meal never arrived. My wife's meal was not good. We decided to give up, and go elsewhere. On this occasion the staff were not very good at getting it sorted. However, a full refund for the food was forthcoming after we complained, and we did receive an apology from the manager accompanied with a bottle of wine to our room later.

A nice location out in the open and away from the town centres. Good views of the golf courses and plenty of parking.

The whole experience was very good however one thing let it down. My wife and I have allergies. When asking the staff if the scrambled eggs at breakfast were proper cooked eggs or from a packet, the staff member asked the kitchen to clarify. We were told they were cooked fresh in the morning and all ok. However when we started eating the eggs, it was quite clear they were not fresh cooked eggs and indeed were from a packet. Needless to say we didn’t eat them. It’s disappointing that a hotel of that stature can’t cook fresh scrambled eggs for breakfast and have to serve processed eggs from a packet.

The breakfast buffet was great. Such great selection, a real treat.

Very restrictive in the times that children can use the pool. Making this difficult for families. They need to re-think this policy. During school hols kids only able to go in from 3-5pm on weekdays. Another slot in the morning would help families and make this hotel a little more family friendly. When not in school holidays, kids are not allowed in the pool at all during week days, even for a short slot!! Its a large pool so I really don't think it would upset adults too much to allow another morning time slot for families during school hols and perhaps a 3 - 6pm slot during school term dates.

I had the most wonderful time at this Spa resort. Fabulous welcoming staff who are only too pleased to make sure you are happy during your stay. I had a massage and foot ritual treatment, the perfect way to start a relaxing break. I used the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room too on another day. There is also a well equipped gym. The rooms are a very good size, with all rooms looking out onto the grounds. It is a golf resort too, so looking at the view if you are not golfing is the safest option. I walked across to the lake once the golfers had finished for the day, lovely after dinner walk. There are plenty of lovely places to explore nearby, if you like walking, lakes, woods there is plenty around as well as nearby shops. The rooms are quiet, I slept very well. The restaurant serves fabulous food for meat eaters and vegetarian/vegan too. I ate in the restaurant every night of my stay and had something amazing every time. Breakfast is a buffet, with so many options to suit everyone. This is my second visit and most certainly won't be my last. Probably one of the best places for facilities, great staff and excellent standards. What can I say but I absolutely loved it.

This was an overnight stop for us as we were going to Glyndebourne for the evening. Having stayed here before we knew there was plenty of parking and that although late back the hotel would be open and serving in the bar for a late night drink. The room was perfect for our needs, excellent bathroom facilities - separate bath and a good strong shower. The bed was so comfortable and the tea making facilities were provided. The breakfast was plentiful and although self service was kept topped up with freshly cooked food. All tastes seemed to be catered for.

Perfectly satisfied.

We were looked after by Ilse in the restaurant. This lady was do kind and helpful. We met her last time we were at the National, when our daughter was with us. Ilse was so thoughtful and kind to her we felt we should feed that back to you.

The rowdy noisy male groups in the restaurant were really off putting. (On both our visits). There was shouting and offensive language. It has put us off future visits despite the excellent hotel that it is. Might I suggest dining groups be located in a separate room, otherwise limit to 4 guests per table.
