We didn't partake with breakfast offered by the Hotel as we found it to expensive, the catering establishments within easy walking distance offered a much cheaper range of breakfasts and great value for money 💰

On check in we arrived into the reception area to check in at 14.50 and was abruptly told that the check in wasn't until 15.00 and that we would have to wait until then. On entering our Double Room (115) we found that there were no plug sockets either side of the bed, when bringing this up with the same receptionist she replied" unfortunately your room is the only room that didn't have them" and gave the impression that we only got that room because we had booked it through Booking.com and not directly with the Royal Hotel. Not a good impression to start our holiday 😡

The location, with parking included, was fantastic. We had a view of the sea and pier. Beds comfortable. Tea making facilities provided. The main staircase with chandeliers added a sense of past grandeur, and charm. Staff all very welcoming and helpful. Excellent selection for breakfast, with cereals, fruit, toast and full cooked breakfast.

The decor was rather tired/tatty in places and dated, but for the price paid this was absolutely fine and expected. The building has some lovely features and character, and could be beautiful. As the weather was nice and we had the windows open, there was noise from the road and nearby bar where people were sitting outside. The hotel itself was quiet though. Breakfast was great, but we were sat in a middle area with no windows near. This seemed a shame, as the adjacent room was empty (don't know what it's used for) and had lots of windows and sea views, so having breakfast there would have been far more special and memorable, and more worth returning for.

Location was perfect and the hotel was clean and tidy. Breakfast was decent and plenty of choice.

Room was ok but the bunks were old and dated. The bathroom was grubby looking as the tiles were held together by mastic….Needs to be redone a.s.a.p as it lets the hotel down. In the breakfast area, nigh on every table was wonky….the wobbling made it very difficult to try to eat comfortably as the table was constantly moving. Glad it was only one meal that we ate there. Perhaps the management should try eating at those tables to understand how annoying it is that whenever you try to cut your food, the tabletop top and your plate dips down while the person on the opposite side gets their plate lifted up….

Every thing was good and as we had an adult with epilepsy and hidden disabilities. The bathroom was really great for her had all the things to hand which is amazing

The shower it’s self , water kepf coming out of the walls , the sealant was in dire need of replacing/repair , and how the fact that the staff were knocking on the door made both young adults uncomfortable, they were asking if the bath mat was the cause of it as water was leaking into the reception area, no matt , bath ) was even there , and we don’t use one as very dangerous, otherwise, every thing was really good staff very friendly and helpful

food was excellent. room service was excellent, hotel was in a good, central location for the beach and the town.

We were staying in a room overlooking the square but unfortunately the noise outside from Vinnies Karaoke and the pub opposite was horrendous. The pub was open until 2.00 am on the Friday and Saturday night and patrons were still outside shouting for at least another 3/4 hour. Vinnies was open the afternoon and evening on both days. We closed the windows and switched the television on but this made no difference to the volume of noise. This situation could certainly put off guests from re-booking which is great shame

Really friendly staff, lovely traditional style hotel, fantastic sea view from the room. Simple breakfast but had all you needed. Free parking right outside. Have stayed here on several occasions and would definitely come back.

The bar closed at 10.45 even for residents, which was disappointing as we came back to the hotel at 10.30 after a meal looking for a nightcap, or two. There were only 3 little tiny uht milks in the room, as one had already been used, which meant we couldn't have a second cuppa, but I am nitpicking (I'm sure we could have asked for extra if we weren't lazy).

it was a new experience for us and was as good as we hoped it would be the location was good, We are not breakfast people so the selection of serials for us was fine. The room was so good full of splendour that suited our 32year anniversary, The staff that we met were really good, friendly, ready to stop and have a chat no matter what they were doing. Our main praise goes to Lauren who we felt went out of her way to make sure we had a good stay. Thank you all again we will be back in the spring of next year.

The location is perfect for our needs we were taking part in Weston Supermare Shanty and Folk Festival. Comfortable and even ear plugs for the noise from SASS nightclub. The staff were lovely, especially Sandie in the Restaurant who went the extra mile to make sure our lunch was perfect when we arrived.

The room was fine. The bathroom was fine except the little strip at the bottom of the shower screen. That was horrible and let's the rest down a bit. Despite that little thing, we had a great weekend. Thank you

Good location on the sea front, very close to the shops. Free parking included at the hotel. The staff were very helpful. The bedroom had been newly decorated & it was warm, very clean, & the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked & there was a good choice. I was even offered an additional item that wasn’t on the main menu. I would be happy to stay there again.

No entertainment midweek. Our room had a few steps from the door & bathroom to the seating & bedroom level. Some people may find these difficult so please request a room without steps.

The food was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble, we used the restraurant for an evening meal, roast Wednesday the size of the meals was huge, all four of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and the doggy bag to take the leftovers. The breakfast selection was excellent as well. All the staff were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The room was lovely with a sea view, the bathroom was immaculate too. I would like to thank all the staff for being so helpful, from cooking meals not on the menu due to dietry needs, to going and finding tooth picks. The service from all staff was impecable. The location was exceptional too, especially as have a partner with mobility issues.

The only thing that would have made it better would have been better internet as it did drop frequently. But that didn't impact on the stay at all and its only a very small niggle
