Great location: across the road from the beach, a short walk from the town and harbour. Bed very comfortable. Air conditioning was effective. Room was very quiet, well-equipped with pod coffee/tea facilities and some snacks. We were given cold milk on check in which was welcome. Breakfast was very nice. The staff were all very pleasant and welcoming.

Nothing much to dislike. Room decor was little dated. Water appeared to leak a little from around the shower screen. A traditional key is used for the room. This is fine but it is quite fiddly to get it to work on the room door, where you have to move it out a little. It was probably specific to our room but both of us had trouble using it. Breakfast, although very nice seemed to be a bit over capacity at the weekend as you are in contention with people purchasing breakfast from outside the hotel. It was hard to receive tea, breakfast and toast all at the same time! Perhaps self service tea would be better. Not a fault of the staff as they were very busy.

The room was really lovely, clean, overlooked the sea and nice and warm which is what you want in the colder months. Lovely balcony to have a cup of tea and look out to sea. Easy location for walks along the beach and we even had fish and chips on the beach. The breakfast is always a highlight of our stay (we've stayed 3 times), as it is plentiful and so nice. I also loved how the lady on reception knew that she had seen us before, even though we only visit once per year in October. It felt personal and we felt welcome.

As we were near the stairs leading to the bar/breakfast area, the staff coming on shift were chatting loudly at the bottom of the stairs at 6:30am, which was a bit of loud awakening.

We came for just one night (unfortunately for us!) to The Marine and felt so welcome from the second we stepped in. Karen at the front desk gave us the loveliest of welcomes when we checked in and even gave us a complimentary drink as we were visiting for our anniversary! It was such a treat for us to get away and celebrate somewhere so beautiful and it didn’t disappoint. The room was perfect! So spacious and great temperature, comfortable bed, good water pressure in the bathroom and nice soft lighting too. Breakfast was lovely! It was so nice to have so many options and the service from Patsy was great. Overall it was one of our favourite hotel experiences. Thank you so much to everyone working at the hotel that made us feel so at home! We can’t wait to come back.

There’s nothing we didn’t like!

The position of the hotel is great with uninterrupted views of the sea from the front of the hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy beds. Great selection of teas and coffees in the room. Lovely walk into Whitstable along the sea front. Family room (32) was a good size.

Staircases need a lick of paint. Breakfast service was very slow but to be fair a lot of people turned up at the same time. Maybe guests should be allocated a time for breakfast to avoid this. One of the male waiting staff kept bringing us food that wasn’t for our table but I think he may have been new in the job so hopefully a temporary blip.

Loved our sea view and balcony! Bedroom was large and bathroom nice. Like the bar and food parts too! We got married and had a lot of family dropping in regularly! Staff were amazing and allowed friends to join our tables together for breakfast and paying friends to join. We also were allowed in our rooms from 1pm to get ready for our wedding which was amazing! Lovely experience.

The only thing that would have been nice was fresh mink in the morning or a fridge with milk as I went to make coffee and sit on the balcony they say after our wedding and the milk was off in the flask and I don’t like black coffee. Some water would have been nice in the room too.

The staff are a credit to the hotel and when entering, the bar, restaurant and downstairs areas are lovely and clean and modern. The air conditioning in the room was welcomed as they weather was rather warm and the room very hot when we arrived. Breakfast is lovely with good choice and, unlike many hotels, it is not a buffet but served to you which is a nice touch

The communal areas leading to the rooms is very tired - the carpet has seen better days and the paintwork is chipped all over. In the room, whilst fine for us, the view is of the rear of buildings, so not great - advertised a a 'town view' - there was no town to see! the skirting paintwork was also chipped as was some of the furniture. This is not a game changer but at £451 for two night B&B, I felt the decor should have been to a higher standard.

The hotel was lovely with a stunning sea view from the balcony. The breakfast and evening meals were delicious and the staff were brilliant. We were made to feel very welcome. The bed was extremely comfortable, and it is definitely a dog friendly hotel.

We had our two small dogs with us, and the room we were allocated was badly in need of an upgrade. Room number 3. The skirting boards and furniture were chipped and scuffed. The bathroom grout was black in places. The room was very dusty and didn't smell clean. Perhaps this is due to it being a dog friendly room.

The hotel were really friendly with our daughter and our puppy. Our room was clean and very comfortable and every member of staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. We had a city view room on the second floor and it was really comfortable and spacious and had everything we needed. The views from the front of the hotel are beautiful. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and the staff were super accommodating for our family, and gave us an extra sausage for our puppy

The only negative for us is that the bar downstairs was full the whole duration of our stay, so we weren't able to sit there. We would have liked to spend more time downstairs instead of in our room and enjoy the atmosphere, but it's clearly a very popular place to be!

The view from our sea view room was exactly as described, right at the front of the hotel overlooking the sea. The bed was comfortable and well made when we arrived and the room was neatly decorated with great tea and coffee facilities on hand. Breakfast was great and more than ample with fresh fruit on hand as well as the cooked options. Service was quick but not so that you doubted the preparation of the food. Check in and check out was super simple and the staff on the desk were friendly and easy to talk to.

The shower over the bath was a little dated and while the water pressure was strong, it was possibly too strong. Also at just over six foot tall I had to stoop to fit under the fixed height of the shower head.

The location is fantastic the room was amazing.... Definitely a bonus having the balcony at the front with view of the sea Dogs made to feel very welcome

Overall the staff that served us were fantastic however on the Saturday night I can honestly say the service wasn't very good lots of standing around chatting we waited quite a while for another drink and our dessert menu eventually we had to go and ask.... The lady serving us was very attentive, however I couldn't say that for the rest of her team which is a disappointment. I could understand if they were extremely busy but it wasn't, It seemed the later the night went on the less interested they were. Which is a shame because overall the rest of the staff are very helpful
