We were originally given the Oak room but for £400 a night we unsurprisingly had high expectations, which this room didn’t meet, the hotel needs to spend money replacing the bath tub there which in places was rusty, I didn’t fancy giving my toddler a bath there, plom. The staff at the reception acted quickly though and changed us to the Pine room, which was everything we had hoped for. We loved our stay after that. Thank you.

The Oak room needs DYI, and good cleaning, there were cobwebs in the ceiling in the Oak and the Pine room too, the housekeeping staff should look up more, this establishment claims to be 5*, so cleanliness is key and basic really. Otherwise, all good.

Nice, comfortable rooms/suites. Very pleasant staff. Great park and gardens. Good breakfast and a really top-rate restaurant for dinner (which sadly only does a tasting menu - not something much wanted 2 nights running, for example, though there's a small menu available in the bar...)

Minor quibbles only: should be a fridge with chilled drinks in every room without any need to ask. No porter at the door to help (or only intermittently available as doubling up on the Reception desk). Parking a little awkward - 250 yards from the hotel. Sauna in room nice to have but hard to operate - in our case the instructions were stuck in Russian and we never got it up and running! Internet wasn't working throughout our stay and mobile data weak. Parts of the gardens need more work, especially the 'formal garden'.

Everything about the hotel is perfection - from the actual building / interior to the incredibly friendly and helpful staff, and the locally produced food and drinks. Staff went above and beyond - this kind of customer service isn’t easy to find nowadays, but Lainston have it in abundance! Truly magical place. For dinner we dined at the Wellhouse. I have dined at a lot of nice restaurants in my life, but the food and dining experience here was truly next level. Absolutely stunning food - all fresh and using local produce - and with a chef (Charlie) who is a genius and clearly has an incredible passion for cooking. So, so impressive - we had the most perfect evening. The staff at Wellhouse (Megan, George, Olivia & Josyan) really made the experience and could not have been more friendly and helpful - they all deserve a lot of credit.

It’s a beautiful house, well kept and attended by the staff. We stayed here on our wedding night so it holds happy memories for us. We have been back a number of times in the following 18 years.

On a rare escape from the children, we were looking forward to a meal and a quiet evening before settling down to a comfortable sleep (as usual). There was a wedding reception in the hotel and our room was right next to the barn where the reception was. We called down to check and were told it wouldn’t go on later than 10:30. The music was loud and thumping until 11:30 when it was turned down, then quieter but still audible until 1:30am. Not what I expect from a usually perfect stay.

The spa bath in the room was a real unexpected gift, the food was delicious, the grounds phenomenal in terms of beauty being upheld alongside its history, care, and pragmatic use with the kitchen garden especially. Staff were friendly and professional, warm and nice to be around and the thoughtfulness in every element of the house and garden was enchanting.

The breakfast menu could have been a little more traditional for vegetarians who sometimes just like a decent sausage and egg like anyone else! TV not working wasn’t great nor was the WiFi which did disrupt our evening and was disappointing.

The property is absolutely beautiful, and the staff are amazing (especially the gentleman who checked us in and showed us to our room). We visited on my birthday and were lucky enough to receive complementary chocolates and a small amount of gin as a present - we really appreciated this touch! Our room itself had a beautiful view over a grassy courtyard, the bed was huge and super comfortable, and we even had a bath with a TV above it which was amazing and really added to the relaxing getaway! Everything was up to a fabulous standard and we would definitely return.

I booked this room for my wife's 65th birthday. My wife was not well and could not make it up to the room we had originally booked (on the first floor). The staff matched the room quality with a ground floor room and provided assistance (wheel chair) to allow her to get too from the Avenue restaurant. The taster menu from Tom was exceptional and the staff made up for the changes in booking we had to make. Thank you to everyone, you saved the day.

We loved the location of the property, it’s in the beautiful countryside with a long drive up to the house which makes it feel very luxurious. Even the car park was pretty. We walked from the car park to the house to take it all in and the house looked spectacular (even in all of the rain), especially with the lights being around the trees. We stayed in the room Acacia and it was incredible, a massive room, with a large bed, 2 chairs, a flat screen TV and more. The best part was the bathroom which has a jacuzzi bath with lights & TV, a huge shower with multiple shower heads, 2 sinks and the gorgeous floor that reflects onto the ceiling creating the most wonderful atmosphere.

We had a slight problem with our booking on arrival and were put in the wrong room but the staff were fantastic and sorted it out for us instantly.

Excellent room, refurbished and very comfortable. Good food. Freindly and efficient check in and out. Very pretty locale.

While some of the staff were excellent, In the main they were not up to the standard of luxury hotel. I had to look for people at one point in order to get a drink. Also there is no going the extra mile. I wanted some simple sandwiches made for an outing the following day, for which I would have paid. I was told this could not be done.

It is a beautiful house and my room and bathroom were very large. My bathroom had a beautiful free-standing bath as well as a very good walk-in shower. My room had windows on 3 sides. 2 sides looked at other parts of the building so I tended to keep the shutters for those closed. What I liked most of all were the wonderful staff - always polite, friendly and helpful. They made it a very relaxing stay.
