The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We arrived a couple of hours before check-in and were allowed to check in early, as our room was ready. Our room was great - very clean and modern but still with the character of a pub inn. The bed was amazing - we had a great night's sleep! The breakfast was delicious. There was a small continental buffet as well as a la carte breakfast options. The pub itself is gorgeous - amazing ambience and decor, and we loved how they repurposed old school desks. It's a shame we stayed only for one night!

The stairs leading to our room were quite steep and narrow. It wasn't an issue for us, but it could be a bit tricky if you have a larger / heavier suitcase or limited mobility.

The location was wonderful - close to the sites I wanted to see this time. Very close to the Cathedral. The food in the inn was SO good, and the pub decor and atmosphere was a feast for the eyes! The staff were very polite and helped me ship a package home! Someone even carried my luggage up the stairs for me (since I'm of an older age). The room was tiny but had everything I needed, and they had a lovely welcome package on the bed that included 2 delicious treats to eat, a welcoming note, and towels twisted into the shape of swans. There is a tiny refrigerator on the wall with a commentary bottle of ale and fresh water. This was a plus to be able to have cold water to drink.

I didn't realize I would be in a room in a building across the street from the inn, but that was more of a surprise than a problem. A luggage rack would have been nice since I don't open my luggage on the floor. I cleared off the desk top and opened my luggage there. There was no place to hang a wet towel - a hook on the bathroom door would have been useful.

Great location, so near to city centre, A lovely walk past the Cathedral to the main City area. Lovely room with great features. Lovey sumperous bath, fabulous Great to have a mini fridge but it's a bit noisy, had to turn it off. Great traditional English breakfast, delicious, but a few more options would have been appreciated.

No Air conditioning. Not sure if temperature was above 25-30 degrees it would be comfortable, but I appreciate this is a very old and historical pub. Not sure if they offer fans if required? We experienced poor quality on TV channels so any improvement would be appreciated as in leisure time would expect a high quality of entertainment value.

Lovely old pub with rooms in Winchester. We were in a separate building across the road from the pub. Our room, Chapel View, was on the top floor and faced away from the road so it was very quiet. The building is old and full of character with narrow corridors and low ceilings. Parking is a definite plus for Winchester, but as one of the staff said, it can be a bit like playing Tetris to fit everyone in. Staff were very friendly, breakfast was excellent. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

The decor is a bit worn and tatty in places but not enough to put us off returning. Stairs are steep and narrow so would recommend checking room options if you have mobility issues. Not a particularly powerful shower, but the freestanding bath in the bedroom was a lovely surprise.

My spouse wanted local character and charm, and not a big-boxy chain. This certainly fits that description in a delightful way. The rooms are located above an historic 18th-century pub and restaurant. Our room had all the modern amenities, including Nespresso machine and updated bathroom with both tub and shower. The bed was quite comfortable. Also, we had a delicious dinner at the ground-floor restaurant/pub. The property is only a few steps from the grounds of the Winchester Cathedral.

While not a big deal for us, our room was on the top floor and I had to mind the sloping ceiling. The bathroom especially was like being in the attic or loft of an A-frame cabin. As a taller person, I bumped my head (just once!) when I wasn't careful. This shouldn't be a concern for most people, though.

The location was amazing, the breakfast was perfect, the staff were friendly, the room was very quaint and we had a view of the gate into the city. parking was very tight and limited, but the hotel assists with that.

The bar/restaurant was extremely popular and was overly crowded and loud. From our room, we could hear people outside until late, the noise could be drowned out by turning on the tv or playing music, or turning on a fan. Driving to the hotel on the street can be a bit crazy and tight but it is easy to adapt to -.

The Wykeham Arms itself is delightful - full of character and in a great location near to the Cathedral and Old Town but also close to the High Street shops etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and food/drink were excellent. The room (top floor of the annexe) was very comfortable with great facilities (including a bath in the bedroom!).

The bedside lighting could have been more efficient. The tea we made in the room was always undrinkable - whether a combo of tea/water/milk, we weren't sure. The parking arrangements were a bit quaint, but seemed to work as we left the keys at reception - however, a warning of this before our arrival would have been welcome.

‘You’re in the annex across the road’ my heart fell having stayed in many lovely hotels with modern annex’s. How wrong I was as my room really was superior and lovely. It was worth the trek up two flights of stairs. Very clean, well equipped room with nice shower, coffee machine and welcome bottle of beer! Breakfast really exceptional and staff all very friendly and polite. Position near the Cathedral great. I very much hope to stay again.

Very little but bed a little lumpy….

Good breakfast- mix of hot food from menu and buffet. Bed was comfortable. Nice touch to have a Nespresso machine. Staff really helpful. Great location by the cathedral and college. Open fire in the pub. Overall good value for a B&B option. Would stay here again.

Only minor wrinkle is that my Nespresso machine was a bit temperamental. I had dinner in the pub and the a ala carte menu was quite pricey (more than you'd pay in London). Fixed price menu was fair value though (3 courses and a couple of glasses of wine for just over £50).

Fantastic location Arrived early and Dylan made us very welcome The room was ready and he carried our bags to our room. Such a wonderful experience staying at this amazing place. The bar has a great vibe in the evening and breakfast was excellent We were granted a place to park in their private parking area which made it very easy. Everything you need to see in Winchester was within walking distance Fully enjoyed our stay and can't wait to return
