Nice location nice staff good facilities clean and well maintained Very good food in the restaurant and a good breakfast

Our room was unbelievably noisy and this disrupted our sleep The coffee at breakfast was dreadful, burnt and over extracted in a cheap old fashioned keep warm container - way way below the standard you expect at the price charged

The breakfast was delicious and had so many different options (especially with fruit) one of the best I've had in a UK hotel. The pool facilities were also lovely but a bit awkward to get to from the room. The hotel decor and bed was really comfortable.

I didn't like that you had to rent a dressing gown for £7.50- I expect a dressing gown in the room of a 4 star hotel, especially one that has a pool/spa that you have to walk through the hotel to. Also, the parking is a daily charge but once you've paid the charge starts again for that day. So when we checked out we paid for our parking but realised we would now have to move the car or pay for a whole extra day before we could go sight seeing. The parking charge seemed particularly excessive as the hotel was fairly central but not an amazing location, it was still a 15/20 minute walk to the main central attractions. We were aware of the parking charge before staying but assumed we would get a full 24hrs for the price, not that it would restart 20 minutes after we checked out.

We were visiting from Canada to our former home town and have stayed here before, Good: breakfast, bar/reception, staff, room (we were meeting friends so did not use the restaurant. Nice relaxing stay. The area is accessible from the city centre and mostly on the flat but still better for drivers than pedestrians. My wife loved the spa.

Not so good: the hotel car park spaces are too few and too narrow (terrifyingly so in a hire car). Paid public parking was easier but not secured out the front of the hotel. Check-in is 3pm by default and if you want earlier the best it can do is 1pm for which you need to pay extra. We booked weeks in advance and I asked the question immediately as we were traveling from abroad. There seemed to be plenty of rooms free but this was an annoyance as driving from Heathrow we arrived in Winchester at 11am. The room was nice but a bit of a trek from the foyer.

Had a lovely stay. My room was cosy and the wifi and smart tv worked well. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. I used the spa facilities for the day which I found nice, especially the relaxation room which was really peaceful. The room service from the restaurant was good.

The spa facilities whilst lovely didn't seem to be cleaned throughout the day so by the evening had got a bit messy with towels and paper cups everywhere. It would have been nice if noise levels around the pool were monitored as some guests got a bit loud. Food from the restaurant was really nice but quite expensive.

Reception and bar staff were wonderful; professional yet personable. Rooms are spacious, modern and reasonably clean. Biscuits and hot chocolate sachets and lovely smelling toiletries were a lovely touch, as many hotels choose to scrimp on these items. So I was very happy to see them! Clean white towels, an area to sit as well as a desk, and a double wardrobe and draws, and a heating and cooling system that worked and wasn’t noisy. There is also a fridge and usb & usbc outlets.

The bed was like a rock and majorly sagged in the middle due to it being a pull apart bed for a twin. My only complaint is that the bedding, inserts and mattress themselves could all do with replacing.

We liked the staff, the room, although the duvet was light for the time of year. Pillows too small for size of bed and thermo didn't rise. Everything was rectified by the staff, blankets more pillows and a heater for our comfort.

As above warmer duvet, bigger pillows. The beds are super but bed linen could have matched the size. The Christmas lunch was not great. Cauliflower soup. Very thick and tasteless. Turkey dry. We had to ask for cranberry sauce and more gravy. Our grown up children went to the bar for wine and drinks. They were happy to help out.Probably could have done with more staff serving. It was nice to see the manager helping out though in the most pleasant way.

The Reception, bar, restaurant, and terrace featured luxurious, modern decor. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive.

The room was clean but disappointing as decor looked outdated and lacked the style of the ground floor communal areas. Parking was a nightmare. Drove in to what turned out to be a very cramped hotel car park only to discover that it was full and no space to turn round so we had to reverse all the way back to the entrance. Big thank you to the member of staff who guided us back! There is a fairly large council car park directly opposite hotel but that was full too. We were directed to another council car park nearby.

Lovely clean and welcoming place. Every member of staff I encountered were polite, professional, and enjoying their job. Breakfast offered plenty of choice and really sets you up for the day. The food in Alfred’s restaurant as delicious and I cannot recommend it enough, great local produce. . The restaurant staff were particularly nice. Great interactions, good food information and, considering how busy it was, attentive. My room was comfortable and spacious. The spa was everything I expected. Clean with plenty of choice.

We couldn't fault the food at Alfreds Restaurant, it was delicious. We had an evening meal and breakfast the next morning and enjoyed both. Our room was comfortable and lovely and cool due to the air conditioning. The swimming pool was great and not too busy.

Nothing really could of been improved on, however some of the channels on the television in our room didn't work. It wasn't a problem for us as we only put it on whilst we were getting ready to go out. It might be something that needs to be looked into as other guests may want to watch something and cant.

The bufffet looked a little sparse at 9am

We booked a table in the restaurant which we booked months ago for a table of 11. The menu changed 4 days before after we pre ordered. Had to ask for candles on table and the butter for bread didn’t arrive. Had to ask for the lighting to be dimmed down. Also no candle was put in the birthday cake that was presented for my husband’s 60th. The roast beef was dry and not nice. The bill was wrong and they had to adjust.
