Nice location nice staff good facilities clean and well maintained Very good food in the restaurant and a good breakfast

Our room was unbelievably noisy and this disrupted our sleep The coffee at breakfast was dreadful, burnt and over extracted in a cheap old fashioned keep warm container - way way below the standard you expect at the price charged

The breakfast was delicious and had so many different options (especially with fruit) one of the best I've had in a UK hotel. The pool facilities were also lovely but a bit awkward to get to from the room. The hotel decor and bed was really comfortable.

I didn't like that you had to rent a dressing gown for £7.50- I expect a dressing gown in the room of a 4 star hotel, especially one that has a pool/spa that you have to walk through the hotel to. Also, the parking is a daily charge but once you've paid the charge starts again for that day. So when we checked out we paid for our parking but realised we would now have to move the car or pay for a whole extra day before we could go sight seeing. The parking charge seemed particularly excessive as the hotel was fairly central but not an amazing location, it was still a 15/20 minute walk to the main central attractions. We were aware of the parking charge before staying but assumed we would get a full 24hrs for the price, not that it would restart 20 minutes after we checked out.

We liked the staff, the room, although the duvet was light for the time of year. Pillows too small for size of bed and thermo didn't rise. Everything was rectified by the staff, blankets more pillows and a heater for our comfort.

As above warmer duvet, bigger pillows. The beds are super but bed linen could have matched the size. The Christmas lunch was not great. Cauliflower soup. Very thick and tasteless. Turkey dry. We had to ask for cranberry sauce and more gravy. Our grown up children went to the bar for wine and drinks. They were happy to help out.Probably could have done with more staff serving. It was nice to see the manager helping out though in the most pleasant way.

The bufffet looked a little sparse at 9am

We booked a table in the restaurant which we booked months ago for a table of 11. The menu changed 4 days before after we pre ordered. Had to ask for candles on table and the butter for bread didn’t arrive. Had to ask for the lighting to be dimmed down. Also no candle was put in the birthday cake that was presented for my husband’s 60th. The roast beef was dry and not nice. The bill was wrong and they had to adjust.

The hotel was alot nicer than I was expecting and I would definitely recommend for anyone to stay there. It was close to the town centre so easy to walk to, the spa facilities were amazing and the rooms and bathroom was beautifully decorated. Walking into the reception, I loved the modern and fresh feel to the place and the staff were friendly too. To top it off the food we ordered in the restaurant for dinner and the buffet breakfast were both out of this world. Probably the best meals I've eaten in a hotel in the UK for years.

There wasn't a lot of parking and it was all a bit tight to get the car parked.

Staff throughout our stay were warm, welcoming, helpful, friendly & efficient. From receptionists to bar staff, maintenance, restaurant & spa.... they really made our stay even more enjoyable than it would have been otherwise. The food in the restaurant was excellent - cooked perfectly, well presented and tasty.

The pool area could be more 'tropical' & relaxing..... lovely facilities with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room but the whole setting is a little plain & bare looking.

Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and staff were only too pleased to get something different, we had dinner in the bar on the first night and the food was great, just burgers, but really well done. Dog was welcomed and there was a little bit of grass nearby for ablutions as well as a lovely walk along the river only 4 mins away once it was light, the dog biscuits at reception were a lovely touch. The hotel is so well situated only a ten min walk into the city centre where all the amenities are and really near the station, if you were coming by train. The spa was really nice, it isn't very big so when it got busy on the Friday afternoon it did feel crowded and I chose to leave at this point, but the gym was well equipped and the faciliities were clean and the staff were very helpful. Louise at reception was delightful.

The first room I had was not very nice, it had a horrid smell and the curtains were grubby and looked ancient, I spent a night there and then told Louise at reception the next morning and she immediately changed me to a first floor room that was dog friendly and so much nicer, which was a big relief. I would have liked the gym to be open before 8am, no need for staff but just for hotel guests to access and for parking to be free for hotel guests. That was a little hidden extra that felt a bit unnecessary when paying to stay somewhere, and could be included in the price.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was good and there was plenty even if we arrived later in the session. The time frame for breakfast was great - so we could have a lie in. The spa was a treat, really well appointed and relaxing and great to have to weather proof our stay. The toilettries in our ensuite were lovely too. It was great to be so close to town we didn't need the car all weekend.

Not enough tea, coffee and milk in our room each day but we were able to get a jug of milk from the bar. The mini fridge wasn't working so it hadn't been checked as part of the room review but staff were quick to fix this. Twin rooms always seem to have the beds so close to together but this hotel is not alone in this.

We found the staff extremely helpful at check in and at breakfast. the room was very clean, tidy with a comfortable bed and we paid a brief visit to the spa for a swim and sauna, this was perfectly adequate for what we needed. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and the city of Winchester.

The hotel shared a car park with the local authority and the external appearance of the hotel didn't reflect the internal atmosphere and ambience that the hotel has. You shouldn't be put off by the external appearance of this hotel if you are you will have missed a very nice hotel in a great location to explore all Winchester has to offer.

It is a beautiful cosy feel modern hotel. The staff are lovely and polite and well mannered. The spa was very clean and had nice facilities. Patricia was amazing, I had a body scrub and she did a fab job. We had lunch and dinner at the restaurant and it was great. The food was well presented and good quality. The room was very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. The bathroom was amazing and shower was nice and hot. One of the best bathrooms I’ve stayed in. For all the above the price I paid was very good and I highly recommend visiting this hotel

Paying for bath robes, long wait at meal times.
