A great experience from checking in with a pleasant chap named Bradley. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he helped with the bags an gave us the parking instructions etc. Breakfast was honestly one of the best we’ve had at any hotel. Very fresh food and ample portions. The young waitresses who were serving breakfast were a delight to deal with. The location was amazing for our first visit to Winchester. I would highly recommend.

Sadly the old vine doesn’t accept cash. I took a majority of cash for this visit. Therefore we ate and drank at a pub across the road that did accept cash. The old vine probably missed out on about an extra £150-175 over the two days that we stayed due to not accepting cash.

We enjoyed the enthusiasm of the young staff. Max and Bailey were especially helpful and friendly with parking, help with luggage and general good humour. We thought the meals were delicious:- 4 breakfasts, 2 dinners and 1 lunchtime snack. The breakfast omelettes were delicious. Our room was great, comfortable, we liked the traditional furnishings, it was warm and the beds were so comfy. We came on a recommendation and will advise friends that it’s the place to stay in Winchester. We liked the tiny milk bottles in our fridge, so much nicer than nasty plastic cartons. We appreciated the central location as we didn’t need to use the car.

A shower grab rail would have been helpful and 2 pegs rather than one for our bathrobes would be good,

Lovely pub with room directly opposite the Cathedral. Very central. We had a room at the front. Good food in the restaurant. The room was full of character the floor was sloping The mini bar with soft drinks was a nice touch Breakfast brought to your room was a lovely touch.

There was too much furniture in the room. 4 chairs for 2 people and just got in the way. The glass storage unit in the bathroom was slightly unstable and in the way. The room was very hot. A fan was provided but as the vines outside covered the windows there wasn’t much airflow The period bed had a footboard, which is not good for a tall person.

Girlfriends midweek breakaway was made perfect by staying at The Old Vine. Even with limited mobility (and do let them know before hand.) As there is no lift. All the staff were helpful with luggage etc. What stood out for me was the complementary bottled water, apple juice, and fresh milk that was constantly there every day. The option to have breakfast (which I'd highly recommend) in our room at no extra cost. And the usual and unusual free complementary bathroom bits and pieces. The food is exceptional and large. I recommend the lamb stake and Expresso Martini. This establishment has created a lovely, cosy, and quiet atmosphere. Perfect for resting at the end of the day. Sitting outside, enjoying the sunshine with a cuppa and having a natta right in front of the cathedral, and grounds ended a wonderful stay.

We stayed for just one night but thoroughly enjoyed both our stay and the beautiful city. The experience was very pleasant — the staff were warm and welcoming, everything was clean and comfortable, and the food was absolutely delicious. Stepping outside, we found ourselves right in the heart of stunning Winchester. The cathedral is just across the street, set on a charming square lined with linden trees. A short stay, but truly memorable

Parking was arranged for us in a private parking box nearby — a bit narrow and tight, but we were very grateful to be able to park so close to the hotel. As you might expect from such a central location, there was some noise from outside early in the evening. However, the hotel had thoughtfully provided earplugs in the bathroom, which helped reduce the sound — and by 11 PM, it was quiet. Not a complaint, just something to be aware of when staying in the city centre.

Fabulous location overlooking a historic courtyard and the Cathedral. Lovely safe vibe. Parking permits and map provided. The breakfast was exceptional, really good produce and cooked perfectly. We had breakfast in our room and this experience elevated our stay. Beautiful room and bathroom. Nice touch adding ear plugs, robes and slippers. Like a home from home. The entire team at the Old Vine were amazing.

Only one thing, the comfort of the beds. The main bedframe was noisy and the mattress was probably too soft for the type of bedframe. The pillows were too soft for me, a mix of firmness on the bed would be a good idea. The futon bed was noisy.

What a lovely welcome! We were shown where the parking is and Bradley was lovely and took our bags to our room. We had a couple of dishes of the light bites and they were lovely. The room was lovely, crisp linen, fluffy towels, coffee machine (and tea stuff!), it was clean and well equipped. Because it was central, right in the centre, we were able to pop back with bags very easily. The breakfast was amazing! Hot plate, well cooked produce and lovely friendly service, nothing was too much trouble. The staff here are amazing, really enjoyed our stay here, thanks.

A very small niggle, the TV needs looking at as only 3/4 channels. In fairness when we are away it is only on for the news and not for long. Also in fairness we never mentioned it because I'm sure it would have been sorted if we had.

Everything was fabulous from the time we were greeted when we arrived to the time we had to depart. We were earlier than check out time so they looked after our luggage in a secure place until the room was ready and when we were given the key found our suitcase had already found its way to our very beautiful room which was exactly as pictured. All staff gave brilliant and friendly service. Probably the icing on the cake was having our breakfast in our room so that we could relax getting up and enjoy the bathroom using the wonderful toiletries provided. The whole atmosphere and helpfulness in making us feel comfortable was second to none! Thank you everyone at The Old Vine! Also a great location.

We received a lovely welcome by Bradley, who went out of his way to ensure we could park our car nearby. The room was amazing! The breakfast really good, even if you have allergens. Our room had a table and 2 chairs, you can have room service for breakfast. For Dinner you can order it downstairs and eat in your room if like…..perfect

Nothing. We stayed on a busy weekend so there was noise transference as the rooms are above the pub/restaurant, but definitely not bad enough to be too much of a nuisance. We usually go out of an evening but stayed in, chilled and watched TV as the room was so lovely so not a problem at all.

Fantastic location in the centre of Winchester. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Fresh milk and juice in the fridge was a nice touch. We stayed in the two bedroom annexe which was spacious and comfortable.

Breakfast could maybe run a little longer at the weekends (ends at 0930hrs). Parking is on the street in specified zones. You may end up a little away from the accommodation. That said, easy to unload next to the pub and parking is not too far (7-8 min walk at worst. We found a spot 2 mins away).
