Pre-booked parking was amazing for £15 and the welcome was warm. Our upgraded room was lovely and although it overlooked the entrance driveway, it was lovely and quiet. The hotel is well presented, the bar was cosy, and the Espresso Martinis were great.

Coming back from the restaurant (not within the hotel) at 11.25 pm on a Friday night, we hoped for a nightcap back in the cosy hotel bar but surprisingly found it closed... to residents too. We were told at reception upon departure the next morning (Saturday) that they are in the process of training more staff in order to be able to offer this service.

The location was excellent, with a designated parking place too - wonderful in the city centre. The room was comfortable, the bed huge and the bathroom facilities excellent - my favourite soap 😃 all the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was buffet for continental and ordered for cooked breakfasts - both were lovely

Some areas of the hotel needed repair - the woodwork on our exterior windowsill for example was rotten! There is no lift - not so good if you have a lot of luggage although the staff help

Was very much looking forward to dinner but couldn’t take my dog into the dining room. Fine and only to be expected. Said I’d put her in the car no problem. Receptionist said that wasn’t allowed they had a policy that guests couldn’t leave dogs in cars in their car park. My dog goes nearly everywhere with me. Often think she’s more at home in car than in the house….

Location is right in the centre of town. All local attractions and shops are easily accessible on foot. Has parking, which is paid, but right behind the hotel and always had space when we stayed. Room and bathroom were both spacious, clean and built with quality. Had everything you need. Not a huge range for the choice during breakfast, but what was provided was excellent. Would definitely stay here again should we visit Winchester in the future.

We stayed when it was rather hot, and despite having air conditioning we couldn't get the room cool enough to sleep comfortably for one of the nights. If you are staying and the temperature is under 26C then it shouldn't be a problem :) Could provide some more allergen friendly options during breakfast, such as gluten free oats, or coconut/almond based yoghurts.

We stayed for two nights for our civil ceremony in July. This event was a low key event for our immediate family but the hotel couldn’t do enough for us. All of our rooms were upgraded free of charge which made it a more special experience for all of us. Our room was decorated for the evening of our civil ceremony which was a lovely surprise to come back to. All staff looked after us very well and were happy to accommodate our requests, including welcoming our photographer and hair stylist on the morning of the event. It was great to have named parking spaces saved for us all too. The room was very spacious and clean with good facilities. We had a lovely stay, thank you!

The AC in the room wasn’t fantastic which did make a difference as the nights we stayed were particularly humid. The parking was very convenient but the barrier at the end was a bit cumbersome as we were leaving and new guests were entering, so it may be easier to just have a button to press to open the gate rather than having to ring reception each time.

We upgraded to a gardens room which suits us because we were on route to Southampton for a cruise and had a lot of luggage. We always use hotel du vin when going to Southampton. Car parking is excellent and rooms spacious and comfortable. Our only issue was that the safe was locked on arrival and could not be used despite attempts by staff to open it. An alternative safe at reception was offered. The hotel is also ideally placed for ther city centre.

Dinner in the Bistro was excellent as expected. The room, which we had stayed in before, was quiet, spacious and comfortable. Drinks in the courtyard garden were very relaxing, as we enjoyed the last of the summer warmth. Good English breakfast too.

Sadly a couple of points. At breakfast I had to ask for milk to go with my coffee and we had to ask also for a second cup as it wasn’t offered. But my main disappointment was no marmalade only strawberry jam, which I hate as it’s too sweet. Why was there no marmalade? Toast without marmalade, just isn’t breakfast.

Good location. Nice choice at breakfast well cooked. All staff friendly.

I was asked at check in if I would go eco so the room would not be cleaned during our stay. No problem with that so I agreed and as a reward got a drinks voucher to use at the bar. First day room not cleaned as agreed 2nd day the room got cleaned and the voucher which was still in our room was removed. 3rd day room was not cleaned. Maybe this was just a breakdown in communication but seemed underhanded.

The food and drink is very good indeed! The room was well provided and it worked.

We are both nearly 80. It was not age friendly. No lift so we had to use the stairs. And there was no handrail on the steps up and down to the front door of the hotel, which was very scary for me. The Checking in and out area was often in gridlock. The hotel management supply a single member of staff at reception. However efficient and charming the staff member might have been, a single human being really does have ONLY ONE pair of hands. Visitors arriving are often exhausted - visitors departing have deadlines to meet. Owners of the chain should employ a member of staff to double up in any department at times of overload. One is left with the sense that the owners of the chain of 'hotel du vin' are exploiting their young bright employees.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location for visiting Winchester. Our room was fantastic with a very comfortable bed, large bathroom and view into the courtyard. We chose the half board dinner and breakfast option. The dinner included two courses with many choices some of which required paying extra. As you would expect, there was an interesting wine list. The breakfast buffet also offered your choice of freshly cooked eggs, my husband enjoyed the full English while I loved my eggs Benedict.

There was some confusion in the restaurant about the bill with the waiter presenting us with a bill for 100£ despite us having already paid for the room and half board. The confusion was amicably sorted out with us paying the correct amount for our wine and sides on check out. It was not clear as our Booking showed "complete dinner”; on arrival we were told this was for two courses with sides extra.
