It was clean and comfortable, we booked a double room for £433 from Thursday to Sunday morning. I thought the room would be slightly larger for price. It was warm and cosy. I was hoping for a room with a balcony, but didn’t realise you need to book the superior room above the double to have this one. It was more comfortable than camping for sure. The shower was strong and powerful which I loved.

We were attending boomtown so despite being only 3 miles from the site, you will have to pay £20 a cab ride each time. The taxi drivers will push their luck and try and demand more, as they always try and take you on a detour, rather than the avington lane which leads directly to the festival site.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean, stylish, and comfortable. The food served was all exceptional, from our full English breakfast to our evening dinner. We were also pleasantly surprised to find the addition of oat milk sachets as standard alongside milk at our coffee making facility tray in our room. Lovely touch for those with dairy intolerances. The balcony in our room was a wonderful suntrap in the morning, and despite the pub being on the road, there weren't many cars passing by at night. Relaxing stay in the courtyside yet still close to the city. My wife and I would definitely return to The Plough if we are in the area again!

the stairs were a bit of a struggle for me as I have mobility issues. I suppose in a building of this age I should have expected a winding staircase so I can't complain. The only real negative was the bathroom. It was obvious that the bathroom had been recently renovated as it was clean and beautiful. If only they had spent a few more pounds and fitted a bifold door on the shower cubicle - making the entry wider - I may have been able to use the lovely new shower!

The Plough is an excellent place to stay the rooms are spacious, really comfortable and although the two we've stayed in were renovated they still had character. The staff are all excellent, always wiling to help, very knowledgeable about the area. The food is extremely good expertly cooked an very good value. The location of the Plough is great as it's far enough away from the main roads an motorways but close enough to Winchester City only a 10/15 minute drive. We are definitely going to be staying there again.!

Having to leave

We arrived from Australia a few days before booking into The Plough. The Plough overlooks a very old church which is surrounded by tall trees and much birdlife. Our room overlooked the Church and when we opened our bedroom windows, the birdsong was delightful. We had a really nice meal accompanied by a beer. The room was very clean and the bed (which included feather pillows) was also very comfortable. The bathroom was exceptionally clean with plenty of hot water in the shower and nice fluffy towels. Breakfast was included in the price and we had cereal, a cooked breakfast, and finished with a hot chocolate. The staff could not do enough for you and nothing seemed too much trouble. Our family are due over very soon and will def be booking in here. We also will be returning. Such a lovely quiet and relaxed place with plenty of character that shone through. There is such a lot to see at Winchester and to have a place such as this to return to each night is a bonus.

There was nothing that I could complain about.

This establishment is beautifully decorated and furnished. Very comfortable. Great feeling atmosphere. The staff were polite and welcoming. The cleanliness was outstanding and not one dot of mould in the bathroom which was fantastic. Shower was brilliant, could have stayed in there for hours but didn't. Bed comfy. The breakfast was spot on, everything cooked to perfection. The evening meals looked delicious but unfortunately we had to be somewhere else. We would definitely recommend a stay or even a visit, we will be returning.

Yorkshire tea 😄

The Plough is a delightful, comfortable country inn. Despite allowing dogs (thank you) there is no compromise on cleanliness - rooms and public areas are spotless. Breakfast (included in the room rate - again sadly not a given these days) is freshly-cooked and delicious. The evening menu offers pub standards but also a "gastro-pub" menu which is very competitively-priced. All the staff are friendly and helpful and personable. I'm not the most demanding of guests but I had no doubt that any reasonable request would have been satisfied.

There was nothing I missed personally.

We had a great stay at The Plough. From the outset, the staff were friendly and welcoming. We booked our evening meal at the hotel and it was delicious - can recommend the crab and crayfish salad, my partner had the chicken and leek pie which was also excellent. Breakfast was good too with a selection of choices for a hot breakfast! Our room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. I would thoroughly recommend The Plough, it is well placed for visiting Winchester also Highclere castle. We hope to return later in the year.

Lovely clean room that felt newly refurbished. Breakfast was absolutely delicious 10/10 to the chef. Location was great for me as it was only 13-15 minute drive to Winchester centre. All the staff were lovely.

I would have enjoyed a machine coffee at breakfast but everything else was so nice I wouldn’t have marked down for that. The tv in the stump jump seemed a bit temperamental - maybe some instructions in the room might have helped along with how to work the heating etc as the radiators were both off when I arrived but again not enough to mark down just to give feedback

Everything. Has its own car park which helps instead of spending time trying to find somewhere to park. It’s a lovely village rather than a busy town but only 5 miles from Winchester. Room was modern, clean & comfortable. It even had the important long mirror. Our bed was king, lovely bedding & comfortable. Room to move about. Bathroom had just been updated so was modern & clean. Supplied basic wash stuff. Kettle & mugs were good but only the smallest amount of the milk in those pods. Staff were friendly & helpful & dinner & breakfast fab. Thank you Jamie for looking after us, & thanks to all the other staff for a great stay. Will def stay again 😊

Nothing. Only thing is the tea/coffee could have more supply rather than having to ask for it.
