Lovely pub/restaurant with a nice beer garden. We stayed for 3 nights as we were attending a wedding in the nearby Avington Park. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a reasonable size with a small but sufficient shower room. It was very clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Breakfast was cereals/yoghurt, a cooked selection, including veggie, and was fresh and tasty. We only ate there in the evening once but the food was really nice. I had to head home very early on the Sunday morning and they made me a sandwich to take as I was missing breakfast. Less than 15 minute drive to Winchester, we used one of the excellent park & ride locations which was really convenient and good value. The wedding we attended was a 10 minute walk away so no need for taxis etc. If you're a walker it's in the middle of some lovely countryside. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

It was clean and comfortable, we booked a double room for £433 from Thursday to Sunday morning. I thought the room would be slightly larger for price. It was warm and cosy. I was hoping for a room with a balcony, but didn’t realise you need to book the superior room above the double to have this one. It was more comfortable than camping for sure. The shower was strong and powerful which I loved.

We were attending boomtown so despite being only 3 miles from the site, you will have to pay £20 a cab ride each time. The taxi drivers will push their luck and try and demand more, as they always try and take you on a detour, rather than the avington lane which leads directly to the festival site.

Its a great place, the room I was in was massive, very comfortable bed, huge TV fabulous shower room, and great shower pressure and size. The tea, coffee selection is about the best I have ever had, the cookies were great and the had both dairy and non dairy milk in the room. Ate in the bar and the food was exceptional. The two guys I dealt with were great, friendly and efficient. Its not a loud place and had was just what I needed after a long day on the road.

I wouldnt say I didnt like it but was slightly underwhelmed by the breakfast - dont get it wrong it was delicious the sausage was fabulous, non fatty and very tasty, but the beans were somewhat cold, and the rest was warm to hot, not hot. From the reviews I was expencting a little more especially as the evening meal was truly exceptional so had high expectations. Was slightly dissapointed to only get 1 bit of toast they did offer more however I had finished my breakfast at that point. Juice was nice as was the coffee and plenty of fresh fruit available.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean, stylish, and comfortable. The food served was all exceptional, from our full English breakfast to our evening dinner. We were also pleasantly surprised to find the addition of oat milk sachets as standard alongside milk at our coffee making facility tray in our room. Lovely touch for those with dairy intolerances. The balcony in our room was a wonderful suntrap in the morning, and despite the pub being on the road, there weren't many cars passing by at night. Relaxing stay in the courtyside yet still close to the city. My wife and I would definitely return to The Plough if we are in the area again!

the room was clean and very pleasant. Breakfast was excellent and the Inn had a friendly atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. we had dinner in the evening which was lovely

the stairs were a bit of a struggle for me as I have mobility issues. I suppose in a building of this age I should have expected a winding staircase so I can't complain. The only real negative was the bathroom. It was obvious that the bathroom had been recently renovated as it was clean and beautiful. If only they had spent a few more pounds and fitted a bifold door on the shower cubicle - making the entry wider - I may have been able to use the lovely new shower!

We arrived from Australia a few days before booking into The Plough. The Plough overlooks a very old church which is surrounded by tall trees and much birdlife. Our room overlooked the Church and when we opened our bedroom windows, the birdsong was delightful. We had a really nice meal accompanied by a beer. The room was very clean and the bed (which included feather pillows) was also very comfortable. The bathroom was exceptionally clean with plenty of hot water in the shower and nice fluffy towels. Breakfast was included in the price and we had cereal, a cooked breakfast, and finished with a hot chocolate. The staff could not do enough for you and nothing seemed too much trouble. Our family are due over very soon and will def be booking in here. We also will be returning. Such a lovely quiet and relaxed place with plenty of character that shone through. There is such a lot to see at Winchester and to have a place such as this to return to each night is a bonus.

There was nothing that I could complain about.

The Plough is an excellent place to stay the rooms are spacious, really comfortable and although the two we've stayed in were renovated they still had character. The staff are all excellent, always wiling to help, very knowledgeable about the area. The food is extremely good expertly cooked an very good value. The location of the Plough is great as it's far enough away from the main roads an motorways but close enough to Winchester City only a 10/15 minute drive. We are definitely going to be staying there again.!

Having to leave

This establishment is beautifully decorated and furnished. Very comfortable. Great feeling atmosphere. The staff were polite and welcoming. The cleanliness was outstanding and not one dot of mould in the bathroom which was fantastic. Shower was brilliant, could have stayed in there for hours but didn't. Bed comfy. The breakfast was spot on, everything cooked to perfection. The evening meals looked delicious but unfortunately we had to be somewhere else. We would definitely recommend a stay or even a visit, we will be returning.

We had a great stay at The Plough. From the outset, the staff were friendly and welcoming. We booked our evening meal at the hotel and it was delicious - can recommend the crab and crayfish salad, my partner had the chicken and leek pie which was also excellent. Breakfast was good too with a selection of choices for a hot breakfast! Our room was spotless and the bed very comfortable. I would thoroughly recommend The Plough, it is well placed for visiting Winchester also Highclere castle. We hope to return later in the year.

The Plough is a delightful, comfortable country inn. Despite allowing dogs (thank you) there is no compromise on cleanliness - rooms and public areas are spotless. Breakfast (included in the room rate - again sadly not a given these days) is freshly-cooked and delicious. The evening menu offers pub standards but also a "gastro-pub" menu which is very competitively-priced. All the staff are friendly and helpful and personable. I'm not the most demanding of guests but I had no doubt that any reasonable request would have been satisfied.
