The beds were very comfortable and the room a good size. Staff were friendly. The food was OK with a good range of hot food for breakfast. We liked the "motel" like character. .
I had to wait 2 nights before my request for a non slip bath mat was met. For two out of the 3 days of our stay, we had almost dead daffodils on the tables in the dining area.. Thanks to Zalea (apologies if I've got the spelling wrong) , this was rectified this morning. It would have helped to know that there is no reception as such, and you have to pick your key up on arrival from the bar.. If we'd known, we would not have dragged our cases through a very busy bar.

It was fine - just adequate for our needs - we we’re visiting the festival of faith and literature in Winchester that weekend. Warm and comfortable. We had a free upgrade to room with king-size bed which was nice. It was nice to have a free welcome drink when we arrived and which we had with our evening meal. Really nice to have log fire. Breakfast was good - staff very pleasant and attentive. We had extra coffee for free with our breakfast which was appreciated. It was good to be able to make drinks in the room and good to have milk in a small fridge for this.
Nothing really. The decor in the dining area was a bit unusual and it took me a while to work out that it was all horse-related - but it was okay. The bathroom door lock needs a bit of attention.

The room was very comfortable, and I liked the outside seating area. The room was nice and quiet.
The kettle was placed at a height which I think is unsafe when dealing with boiling water. The radiator in the bathroom was dangerously hot given how close it was to the entrance to the shower. I appreciate that there is a warning but I don’t think it goes far enough. The light on the fridge was so bright that I had to put a cushion over it at night. I stayed with my sister, on her recommendation as she had stayed with you the year before after our family Christmas. The price was considerably more than the previous year. I think £171 is rather expensive, and I’m not sure I would want to return at that price.

It's a bit like an upmarket motel with the added bonus of being part of a pub/restaurant. The running horse was about 14 minutes from the city of Winchester. Lovely quiet area with ample parking. We had both breakfast and dinner here, and I have to say it was exceptional. The staff were really friendly and happy to help with any requests. The room itself was small; but it really is just somewhere to sleep. There is an espresso machine, kettle, coffee pods and sachets. Tea, sugar, sweetener, kettle and milk is in the fridge. The bed was incredibly comfortable and shower is brilliant. Definitely recommend this place.
Other half was miffed the TV remote didn't work 🙄

Bright character pub with mega friendly and professional team. Motel style with individual rooms away from the pub so no issues with noise or kitchen aromas. Room was spotless and stylish with a nice coffee station. Big room too and they had fired up a large Dyson fan to keep the room nice and cool and fresh. My waitress Sasha was a joy and made great recommendations from the menu - I had 3 courses in the evening and a quick continental breakfast option before I had to shoot. Will definitely stay here again when I’m in the Deep South
Food and drink came to just over £50 for 3 course and a pint of premium lager. Welcome to two thousand and twenty four!

The pub is lovely, with rooms hosted in a very pleasing ‘paddock’ arrangement. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely bed. It had tea, coffee with a Nespresso machine and biscuits, which was a nice touch. There was a smart TV and internet radio, so plenty of entertainment through the wifi. The staff were lovely and the breakfast tasty & good value. We also enjoyed eating at the pub for dinner and the surroundings were beautifully peaceful.
Not a dislike as such, but as an EV driver, a charging point would have been perfect. However, it was a short drive to Winchester’s Tower St car park to top up using the MER network (download the app).

My sister and I loved The Running Horse. The staff were amazing and looked after us so well. Special thanks to Sian, Ollie, Julia, Will and best wishes to all. We will recommend The Running Horse to others and hopefully can return ourselves. Hazel and Heather Room 4 Arkle
The only comment we would like to make is there was no rail in the shower which would have been useful for Heather's health issues. However, we did not request this specially and it certainly did not have an effect on our stay.

Firstly the location in a quiet village is perfect. With short walks through the church and nearby stud are wonderful. So onto the Running Horse. We really liked the welcome and the pub has a lovely air to it. We used this for a pre cruise stay leaving Southampton the next day. it was perfect. The pub is nicely set out with an area for a quiet drink and a restaurant area. There is also a decent bar snack menu worth checking out. We ate in the evening. The food was well cooked. The menu is not big but there is enough choice plus a specials board. As is the trend nowadays for example if ordering a burger you will need to order extra like chips.
A slight confusion on breakfast options as we did not order when booking. This was simply because we did not know our check in time for the cruise. There is a small but ample buffet breakfast with tea or coffee or something more substantial should you want more.

We were greeted by a lovely girl behind the bar with a huge smile. We arrived a bit too early to check in so had some food in the restaurant. The whole look of the place is lovely and cosy. Our room was so nice, a rustic theme. Bed and pillows were so comfortable. The Dyson fan was lovely. We loved the Running horse and will return again in the future.
The food was lovely but a bit expensive. The coffee machine in our room still had used pods in, approximately 10 of them. My partner wanted a coffee but when he emptied the tray lots of old coffee poured on to his hands and the floor.

We were especially impressed by the professionalism of all the staff. They made us feel very welcome and our chalet bedroom had everything we needed and most importantly our large double bed was really comfortable. In the restaurant, all our request were dealt with speedily and efficiently. A good menu of pub grub well cooked and nicely presented. In all a very well run 'Stable'. Thank you!
It feels churlish to say that the seasonal greens, mostly leeks, were undercooked. Despite sending them back the replacements were the same. However nothing to spoil our overall enjoyment.
