Location

The biggest disappointment was that the pool was closed but never mentioned on their website. The restaurant had very little choice of food. However, the food was uneatable anyway, I didn't appreciate £18 pizza (microwaved and so hard), same as all the food we received was microwaved and literally uneatable, viz. (selection of fresh garden vegetable choice) as it was literally a tesco's frozen cheapest veg. Hotel restaurant staff needs better math skills. The bar staff need to learn some good manor and customer service, never forget a nice wee smile is not just a politeness, but it represents a good polite communication.

Novotel was the very first hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in. We have no other experience to compare our stay with BUT our stay (the start of our 50 anniversary cruise) was very pleasant, the bed was amazingly comfortable, the location was gorgeous, apart from IKEA being very visible from the hotel which had me reluctantly being dragged around by my wife. The staff very friendly and we did receive a complimentary drink to celebrate.

My one and only let down was the fixed price for the breakfast (which I fully understand) as one who eats very little in only need two slices of toast. This worked out at £9 per slice. Just a tad bit expensive. Perhaps a little bit more flexibility would help those who eat little.👍

Stayed one night prior to joining a cruise. Central location close to the main railway station, ferry and cruise terminals. Large well appointed room with toilet separate to bathroom (though still within the room). Staff welcoming and helpful. Ate elsewhere so unable to comment in that regard.

Received notification prior to arrival concerning no air conditioning, which given my stay coincided with the coldest night of the year so far, was not a problem. What I wasn’t expecting however, was discovering the heating was not working either and was very cold. A quick word with Reception however resulted in a portable radiator being delivered to the room, which certainly helped but not as good as full heating. Whether I was just unlucky I cannot say but the reaction I received from Reception when I complained didn’t appear to suggest this was a one-off.

It's in a good location. Good facilities. The room was comfortable, Good pressure on shower, good supply of toiletries, fresh milk sachets. Nespresso machine was a big plus. Friendly reception staff. Friendly housekeepers. Waiting staff were friendly and efficient.

Lack of choice on menus. A lot of dishes not available. Waiter said we could eat from either menu in the restaurant, manager informed us that items from the bar menu could not be eaten in the restaurant? Manager did not seem on the ball. An additional charge was made on my card without my knowledge, which I noticed once I returned home, I have enquired but have had no response £10 per night to park in the carpark is excessive. Tins of still water is a no no, water tasted awful.

The staff was very helpful. I really liked them. The location is across the street from the train station (of course it's not where you can walk directly across, you have to walk a short way to the corner to cross) so that is convenient. It's about a 10 minute walk to the West Quay shopping and restaurant complex, once you find the most direct path which took us a couple of days to figure out. Past that it's what I'd call a nice, adequate hotel. Nothing to write home about. Nothing bad either.

No real problems. Except remember there is no Air conditioning if you plan to be there when it's warm. And I wasn't a fan of the toilet being separated from the bathroom in a small room. All I could think was there was no sink in there so you know how dirty that door knob probably is.

We stayed at Novotel for 3 nights, 2 of these nights were last minute as we could not make our onward journey due to bad weather. The staff were amazing, we arrived at the hotel quite a while before the check in time and were happy to wait but our room was ready within an hour of us arriving The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very clean The location is great, only a few minutes walk from the train station and located within a retail park with a great selection of shops and a McDonald's and TGI Fridays We didn't eat at the hotel but did have coffees which were lovely and not overpriced I would definitely stay in this hotel next time I am in Southampton

The greeting by reception was lovely and made me feel very welcome… The room was large and had what I needed within it, along with some nice toiletries. The pillows and bedding were very snug and cosy. I liked the provision of water and milk in the fridge, plus a nice coffee machine.

The bath was very narrow… and the bed was quite hard when I sat in it, but it was still very comfortable. Not quite enough convenient plug sockets for me. The restaurant didn’t have any atmosphere. The breakfast wasn’t the best either.. not worth the money.

Ideal for our trip to Paultons park. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

We were issued a parking ticket after we got home despite having paid for parking. We appealed to the parking company but the ticket still stood so we had to appeal through POPLA and won. Very disappointing and stressful when we had done nothing wrong. I understand that the parking is overseen by an outside company but this did not reflect well on your hotel and we would think twice befofe returning because of this.

Good location, about 10 mins walking from the city centre. We arrived around 11am and they let us park even though check in time was at 3pm. The following day we checked out at around 12pm but they let us keep the car there for a few extra hours at no extra costs so we could enjoy the city for a few more hours before departing. Breakfast was quite good, both continental and full British, loads to choose from.

We stayed in the family room and the kids shared a sofa bed which was not very comfortable.

I liked the sauna and that there was a pool! Breakfast was great-a big variety of options. The main bwd was very comfy.

The shower cubical and area to go to pool was dirty. The area to get dressed and showered after sauna was too small for the amount of people at once. In our room the sofa bed could if done with an extra mattress on top as I could feel the metal springs which was not very comfortable to sleep on. Also could of done with more than one pillow on there-cushions even. We could not find any button for a fan in the bathroom so it just steemed up, windows could not open but the fan in the toilet kept going on and off by itself throughout the night. The fan in the toilet had no impact to the rest of the room though. It got a bit hot and noisy at night.
