If you are considering staying here at The Harcourt Arms then do it! We had the most wonderful experience from the minute we arrived, to the moment we left. We travel with our maine coon kitten (9 months old and 9 kilos!) and we can find it difficult to locate hotels that will accept him. When we called the hotel, they couldn't be more happy to have him! Due to his size they allocated us the top floor double room which is huge so he could play with all of his toys and do zoomies up and down! This could easily be considered as a family room. They took care when the room required cleaning if our cat was in there and all the staff smothered him in kisses and cuddles! They even gave him some poached salmon to go home with! The rooms are beautifully decorated and the hotel decore fits perfectly with the countryside vibe. We had breakfast every morning which was continental and cooked and was always so tasty. We also had two dinners throughout our 4 night stay which were also amazing. Highly recommend the Sunday roast!! The staff are all exceptional and we cannot wait to return. We really felt taken back by the kindness we received and how they all went above and beyond to make us and Odin at ease and looked after. Thank you so much ❤️

The good location off the beaten track. The traditional yet modern blend and feel of the hotel was appreciated it had a good atmosphere. The hotel was close enough to Oxford yet far enough away to be relatively quiet. The bar was well stocked with interesting items. The hotel was clean and well looked after.

A wider choice of continental breakfast would have been helpful eg rolls, croissants, pastries... as would have been freshly chopped fruit and a wider range of breakfast cereal, even in the small boxes. Room drinking water - open bottle - was disappointing could have been cooler too and with closed bottles, still and sparkling.

From start to finish we couldn’t fault anything… starting with a warm friendly welcome to us and the dog, the fires burning away as we walked in from the cold making it so cosy. We stayed in the suite and it definitely didn’t disappoint, everything you could possibly want and need with the most amazing bath and a very comfortable bed. Dinner, breakfast and the service was excellent. Even the dog got a sausage for breakfast which she was happy about! Everywhere was immaculate and smelt so fresh… even the bar toilets! Honestly couldn’t recommend The Harcourt Arms enough, without a doubt one of the best places I have stayed for what we paid, we would pay more than we did because it’s worth every penny so thank you!

A wonderful stay at this beautiful place for two nights (Friday and Saturday) whilst we attended the Royal International Air Tattoo. I'd originally booked the accessible room for my partner and his brother to share, but plans changed and I ended up staying with my partner in this beautiful, large, comfy room with the biggest shower ever. Every detail is taken care of, from the in room coffee machine, with fresh milk from the bar if you want it, as well as fancy tea bags. The food was out of this world. We had dinner and two breakfasts and enjoyed every bite. I had the Pork Chop with the Romanian Bean Stew on Saturday night and it was a taste sensation. I had major food envy looking at everyone else's too and wished we could have stayed longer. Happy hour each evening from 5 - 7pm was also very enjoyable. The staff were so warm and friendly and made us welcome from the moment we set foot inside. I had to do some work from there on Friday and I was looked after very well. We loved that The Harcourt Arms is dog friendly, and we met so many lovely well behaved dogs - and their owners. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay there again one day.

Diners on the Saturday night who didn't respect the rules and let their dog up on the bench seating. I thought the manager dealt with them very fairly though.

The room, spacious and the location of the hotel.

The personel could be al little bit more open/ smile some more. Most of the seemed like if they "need to work there and are not enjoying it". Tip: if you smile more (while serving people), most people automatically don't mind if things are taking a little bit longer or something that is not going according to plan. Furthermore, the a la carte menu could use a little bit more variation. The options for breakfast were also too limited to our opinion. Maybe some extra continental options or (kid friendly) options like pankakes.

Lovely location well away from the city life! Recently modernised too but not to the detriment of the olde worlde bar & lounge effect. The open fire should be lovely in the winter. Good dinner and breakfast. Good sized, modern finish room with a comfy bed and decent lighting Good WiFi (needed as the local mobile service is rubbish!) There's a nice rustic feel to the place - just perfect for getting away from it all really - complete with ample parking

Sink and bath drainage needed fixing - partial blockage. Cistern full flush button leaking Kettle didn't switch off and the lid did not open easily. (suggest all issues should have been noticed by housekeeping??) One floor to ceiling window faces the road/pavement so minor privacy issue meant curtain partially closed whole visit... but notwithstanding the above we'd happily go back as these were minor issues.

Beautifully renovated village pub.

Beautiful pub hotel in a pretty & peaceful location. The room was lovely, we loved the attention to detail & the rainfall shower was amazing. The food was excellent - we enjoyed dinner & drinks in the restaurant on the night of our arrival, as well as breakfast the following morning. Staff were friendly & attentive. It was a hot evening the night we stayed but we found the room to be more than cool enough with the windows open & the hotel also offered additional fans/heaters should they be needed. We visited the area to do a crocodile feeding experience at Crocodiles of the World, approx a 15 minute drive away, but would definitely return here should we ever be in the area again.

I stayed at The Harcourt Arms this week, a lovely small hotel set in the countryside, yet close enough to Witney for an easy 15‑minute drive into work. From the moment I arrived, the experience was wonderful — the receptionist was very professional and personally escorted me to my room, taking the time to explain everything I might need during my stay. The room itself was comfortable, clean, and beautifully presented. It felt inviting and homely. There was a coffee machine for those who prefer coffee and a nice selection of herbal teas. As a woman travelling for work, I felt very safe and at ease. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming that I even sat outside in the evening with a glass of wine — something I rarely do when travelling alone. Every member of staff was very friendly and professional, including the barman. Breakfast was superb — the smashed avocado with poached eggs on sourdough was probably the best I’ve ever had — compliments to the chef! I will most certainly return to The Harcourt Arms next time I’m in Witney. Thank you for a truly enjoyable stay.

My only small suggestions would be larger mugs in the room and a few extra regular tea bags.

Lovely atmosphere and decor. Very spacious and perfect if you’re travelling with dogs. We stayed for one night for my husbands birthday and the whole experience was faultless! We had dinner in the restaurant and the team were so attentive and friendly. They had put a dog mat and bowl in our room for our dog and made a fuss of him which he liked very much. The bed was very comfortable and it was quiet at night making it very easy to get a good nights sleep. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and they bought our dog a sausage too! Overall a 10/10 experience and we will definitely be returning! Thank you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
