Lovely location well away from the city life! Recently modernised too but not to the detriment of the olde worlde bar & lounge effect. The open fire should be lovely in the winter. Good dinner and breakfast. Good sized, modern finish room with a comfy bed and decent lighting Good WiFi (needed as the local mobile service is rubbish!) There's a nice rustic feel to the place - just perfect for getting away from it all really - complete with ample parking

Sink and bath drainage needed fixing - partial blockage. Cistern full flush button leaking Kettle didn't switch off and the lid did not open easily. (suggest all issues should have been noticed by housekeeping??) One floor to ceiling window faces the road/pavement so minor privacy issue meant curtain partially closed whole visit... but notwithstanding the above we'd happily go back as these were minor issues.

From start to finish we couldn’t fault anything… starting with a warm friendly welcome to us and the dog, the fires burning away as we walked in from the cold making it so cosy. We stayed in the suite and it definitely didn’t disappoint, everything you could possibly want and need with the most amazing bath and a very comfortable bed. Dinner, breakfast and the service was excellent. Even the dog got a sausage for breakfast which she was happy about! Everywhere was immaculate and smelt so fresh… even the bar toilets! Honestly couldn’t recommend The Harcourt Arms enough, without a doubt one of the best places I have stayed for what we paid, we would pay more than we did because it’s worth every penny so thank you!

Beautifully renovated village pub.

The setting (on the edge of a small village) may not suit someone wanting local shops etc., but if you're wanting to stay someone that has a warm and welcoming ambience, great food and drinks selection and has fantastically finished rooms then The Harcourt Arms will be hard to beat. It actually worked out at £30 less for a 1 night stay with breakfast than the sterile Premier Inn I usually end up in when working in the Oxford Area. Callum was a great host and certainly knows his drinks.

Breakfast doesn't start until 8 am, so that does make it a bit of a rush to eat and get away in time to get into work for 9am.

Lovely location & very cosy and quiet hotel. Very nice rooms - accessible room is great for disabled guests, has all the facilities you could need. Shower in Bladon room also great. Lovely breakfast. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

Evening meal on Sunday very slow service, even though the restaurant was quiet - waitress was brilliant but seemed to be on her own most of the time so ordering & food coming out was slow. Food was nice but expensive for what it is, might be better earlier in the day or not on a Sunday. Bladon room is above the bar & so you can hear the music quite clearly at times, but this did stop at 10.30 so wasn’t a huge issue - just something to bear in mind. Some parts of the room were a bit dusty (fan provided was pretty covered) and a few bits of wear and tear but nothing major. All in all it’s a lovely hotel & we had a great stay, but a few things that could make it feel a bit more like a 5 star!

Lovely welcome, personable friendly staff and housekeepers. Professional, good breakfast, enough options but not to much so quality or standards get compromised. Good local information, staff who would talk if you want to talk or let you be if you want some quiet time. Comfortable historical pub with double door inglenook fire places with plenty of wood so you feed the fire a watch the flames while having a wee dram. Rooms are modern spacious yet in keeping and comfortable comfortable equipped bathroom, plenty of fluffy white towels, soft water and quality toiletries, which they; sell so I brought a bottle of the shower gel.

If I really think about two things come to mind, but not going to mention them, if they were an issue I would raised it and I’m confident they would have done what they could to make it even better.

The place is lovely. The pub and dining areas are cosy and warm. The staff are lovely. The dog was welcomed. We were given a room, Painswick, which was on the first floor but had easy access to a fire escape for dog toileting purposes.

I felt the continental breakfast selection was lacking. I would have liked some cereals other than overnight oats, but that's my personnel preference. We did eat in the restaurant but I don't feel my pasta was value for money and was still hungry after it. However, it was very tasty, if somewhat cool in temperature.

What a find! From the moment we entered the Harcourt Arms everything was perfect. We somehow found an amazing deal on here...not going to mention the price....but it was a steal! We had the suite with a four-poster bed and beautiful copper bathtub. There was also a separate rainfall shower room. Everything was spotlessly clean in the room and the premises generally...housekeeping are doing a great job. Breakfast was included in our rate and was second to none...I had a full English which was delicious and my girlfriend the avocado and poached eggs...both were superb and a great start to the day. The staff were excellent...on arrival we were explained everything very clearly and in a nice friendly manner a d check-out was the same seamless process. We will be back....thank you for a lovely if brief stay. Neil and Vitalija.

The Harcourt Arms is a hidden gem. I have stayed at many hotels and I had low expectations and was worried about booking in a place with a pub. However the Harcourt Arms exceeded my expectations. The room was behind the main building separate with parking right next to my room behind the main building. The room is very spacious, light modern and the decoration is of great taste. The bathroom products are phenomenal, the orange scent of the products made it even more memorable. The WiFi works great, never had any connectivity problems. The restaurant is decoration is impeccable. Great atmosphere to relax with lots of fires ideal for dogs. The breakfast was fantastic, I specially recommend their bircher muesli, it's by far one of the best I tried.

I would've liked carpeted floors.

Location was great, room was much better than what you see in the pictures. perfectly clean, the bed was very comfortable and very big, they even left us a cooling mat for our dog and a bowl of water. The service was exceptional, they were happy for us to pay at the end and include everything we had at the bar and restaurant on our room. They made it very easy for us to get the dog out at night. Honestly it was an amazing stay. Food wise their English breakfast was the best we've ever had and the black pudding is exceptional!
