We stayed a month or so ago. The staff are all incredibly welcoming, very friendly and incredibly helpful too. Last time the food wasn't plentiful at all and the sausage, bacon etc. that was left was dry and over cooked BUT that was the previous time......How things have changed! The food was plentiful, fresh & incredibly tasty. Judging by the new breakfast bar and a member of staff watching over the breakfast, another staff member counting the eaters in the area, I get a feeling that maybe last time when we stayed maybe some naughty people (who didn't opted for a paid for breakfast) must have cheekily sneaked into the breakfast area and helped themselves! I was even able to ask for seconds, the breakfast like I said was plentiful and delicious both catered for a full English or cereal. Hash browns, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, beans, scrambled egg and so much more. Very much worthwhile opting for the breakfast. The hotel is positioned outside York and allows you to get a peaceful restful sleep outside of the city. A cheap uber ride completes it. There's a Carvery next door too that's great for dinner and a sneaky drink. We will definitely be stopping there again.x

There's nothing to not like.x

The staff was super helpful, accommodating, friendly, cheerful. They made our stay wonderful. Breakfast was very good. We preferred the way it was kept warm in those beautiful containers, rather than dried out under heating lamps. The little paper cups for sauces are a very good idea, too. The room was fine. The only thing that could be better as an accessible room: the bed could be a few inches further away from the bathroom wall, for the person in question to get the wheelchair, or rollator next to it. Upside however, the bed was not fixed to the wall, so I could move it a bit for my husband. The situation (in some reviews mentioned) with the drains smell in the bathroom is that there has been rain and the ground water is relatively high. Not much if anything that they hotel can do about it. Once the rain stopped for a while, the smell did, too. I gladly recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay there again.

The bed could be bigger and a bit further away from the wall. That's all. Everything else was fine.

Expecting a chain hotel from the name but you would be very wrong. Fantastic staff make this like staying in a small family hotel. Value breakfast, personal service - would you like a hand with your bags to your room? The complimentary tea and coffee is easily replenished.

Bit of a problem with the sink plug but didn't distract from the stay. The TV hadn't been set up as someone had possibly reset it to January 2021 so the guide didn't work but we don't go to watch TV 😃

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times now, for a period of 3 nights each time. The convenience of a free car park is a real benefit. We get cabs to the centre of York and return to the hotel at a rough cost of £10 each way. There is no lift to the upper floor, but the staff are always available to help carry your luggage upstairs, they are so helpful and friendly, nothing is ever too much. The staff are quick to clear and clean the dining tables to enable the next guests to have their breakfast. The selection is ideal with a choice of fruit juices, tea, coffee, cereal, fruit, yogurts, pastries and a full english. They can cater for vegetarians on request. It's also handy to have a Toby carvery right next door.

As we had a nasty drain smell coming up from the sink, which is apparently a problem in the city of York and the toilet didn't flush properly. We had to move rooms. The next room we was given was perfect.

Location was great especially when visiting York, park and ride just down the road and easy to get to. Retail park close by with supermarkets, shops and plenty of places to eat. Be aware you will have to drive to the park and ride and retail park, over an half hour if you walk. Room was very clean and tidy, just what we wanted for a few days away. The breakfast was good and they catered for most allergies.

Some of the items in the room were outdated and either didn't work and needed replacing. These were mentioned to the team while we were there and alternatives were offered.

ALL..of the staff were amazing, helpful, pleasant and polite and smiley from us booking in to checking out, a credit to Holiday Inn. Breakfast was really good, lots of choices, plenty of it, no problem with staff replenishing stock when needed. Grab and go idea was very good. Plenty of tables. Being on the ground floor was a bonus. We were in an accessible room which was a wet room, we found the shower to be very good but the drainage was very slow and almost reached the door into the bedroom! The chair in the bathroom was a very useful idea. Toiletries were excellent, plenty of extra items for example tissue box on the bathroom wall. Towels were very good. A small night light in the bathroom would have been ideal. Being used to a king sized bed at home we found the double bed to be a little on the snug side! Plenty of spare supplies of tea, coffee and milk etc in the dining room. The location of the hotel was perfect, close to the park and ride and with the hotel being next door to a Toby Carvery was great, although unfortunately we did not get to use it, but we will be back! Good sized car park which would have been even better if people had only used one slot and not 2!

We had a great 3 night stay…overall, everything was brilliant!

The staff were super, couldn’t do enough for us with a 4 month old. We’d been at a wedding and were able to check in a bit earlier, despite only booking the room late the night before. The room was comfortable, the hotel had plenty of parking and is in a good location for getting into the city by car, shopping at monks cross or going for walks in the countryside, and Toby Carvery is next door. Late check out means you can have a chilled morning and breakfast was included which was buffet style with a good selection. The warm croissants were particularly good! Staff always there to help.

The staff was fantastic and extremely friendly. It can be difficult sometimes to find a place that can sleep four in a single room, so I was happy the room was clean and had enough room for all the members of the family to sleep. Breakfast was filling and my kids loved the pancake making machine.

My daughter complained that the cot she slept on was uncomfortable. While the hotel is close to downtown York, it's definitely not walking distance. You'll need to drive in, park, or take a cab. It's probably a much better deal if you book far enough in advance, though I booked within a week of staying and paid a steep premium.

At gone midnight we had a warm welcome at reception. The room was more spacious than we expected, and a nice temperature. There were notices saying we could have anything we were missing. The blackout curtains worked so well we nearly overslept. Cleaning staff in the corridor were really friendly. Breakfast was brilliant. There was a pancake machine! We liked the small plates - you could have as much as you liked, but there wasn't a huge plate to overfill.

Lighting was a bit dim, and the beds were not the softest.

I liked the location and how quiet it was. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the manager was very nice in the morning.

I didnt like that the cleanliness wasnt up to scratch, we found a stain on the single duvet cover and the shower plate wasnt clean, it had hairs and stains I had to clean it myself. We only stayed 1 night and didnt arrive until late and left first thing in the morning, If we were staying any longer I wouldve complained
