Hotel is in a good location next to the centre of York. Stayed in other hotels in York & liked this one the best. Had a room overlooking the road, didn't hear the traffic which was good. Plenty of space in the bar/reception to sit & have a drink. Good breakfast with plenty to choose from. All the staff seemed friendly.

In the room was an air con/heater, set it to heat on a high temp but just blew cold air out, maybe that's why there was also an electric heater in the room as the other one didn't work. Just glad we had the electric heater as well because it was cold.

The breakfast was lovely. We have been.before so knew the location was ideal. All staff friendly and helpful.

We were a little disappointed about staying in the Town House. Our room was on the top floor and there were no lifts. There was a really bad smell when we first entered the hallway but that seemed to be sorted by the next day as windows in the hallway were left open. Once we got into the room we were pleasantly surprised it was extremely clean and comfy. The only thing was the toilet was very slow to fill up again once you used it so the next person couldn't flush for a good 10 minutes or so. Also paint work just needs touching up. We didn't think any of these issues were worth reporting at the time.

Lovely spacious clean room with a big bathroom. Breakfast- good quality and choice to suit most- not a fan of tinned tomatoes at breakfast though- fresh ones would have been better here

Bedroom 32- needs better main light when getting ready at night to go out. Needs a mirror over the desk/dressing table . Full length mirror at side of bed should be swapped with the picture on the wall behind the door. Bathroom- floor a bit slippery when wet-is that flooring suitable for a bathroom? Only a small glass shelf to hold glasses- no shelf for your toiletries. Radiator should be on the wall beside the sink NOT beside the loo- bad layout here given the size of the bathroom. No biscuit on the tea and coffee tray. Also a hot chocolate sachet would have been good for those who drink neither.

Its a great hotel, the staff are super friendly! I had a deluxe room, nice and clean, spacious. Location is fab, very close to town, there is onsite parking available but I arrived later in the evening so it was full, but was quickly directed to closer parking facilities. 24 hour gym facility is available, - could do with blinds in the gym rather than everyone able to see you working out!

The A/C in the room wasn't working , luckily a fan was provided. It was hot during the day but cooled down in the evening, but this week is supposed to be really hot so hotel needs to ensure the AC is working for future.

Positives: Location was wonderful, walking distance from many tourist spots and beautiful scenery. Bed was big and comfortable. Everything was clean. Staff are very friendly. Does include towels and essentials like a kettle.

Improvements: We were happy to find a large fan was in our room however with the heat it was just pushing hot air around, there was an air con in the room but did not work and no remote found. The shelf in the bathroom is slightly broken in our room (222) wasn’t a big deal but meant you couldn’t place anything on it including the hand soap which kept falling off.

We had a wonderful stay, starting with the delicious welcome cookies. The room was spacious, and the location was perfect, within walking distance of the historic center and close to York Minster Cathedral, surrounded by charming bookshops and cafes. We were delighted to have received a free upgrade to a deluxe double room. The bed was huge and incredibly comfortable with fluffy bedding. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

While our stay at the hotel was generally pleasant, I did have an issue with the air conditioning unit. It seemed to be covered in dust, and the discarded flag was a bit concerning. Unfortunately, this caused my allergies to flare up, which made it difficult for me to fully enjoy my stay. For anyone with asthma or severe allergies, I would recommend checking the cleanliness of the air unit before using it. Regular cleaning would certainly improve the overall experience.

Easy access to town. Friendly, helpful staff. Good food. Wheelchair accessible.

Door hinge too strong in our room, for wheelchair access - need catch to hold open when entering/leaving. Also door saddle a bit high to run chair over. Need to check accessibility rails on toilets. Bed a bit high for easy access from wheelchair. We coped, but a little tweeking would make it almost perfect. Would definitely return.

Really easy check in, ladies on reception were so helpful, Anna and Louise, hotel had an electrical issue which meant they couldn't check anyone in when we arrived but they dealt with it in a very professional manner, well done. Eventually checked in, room was great, very clean, slight issue with a leaking shower screen so reported to reception, wasn't an issue for us. Bar well stocked, good staff on the bar, served quickly and with a good attitude. Bed very comfy, pillows took a bit of getting used to, very squishy but still firm. Breakfast was good, decent choice, no beans which I find strange but was still good. Great location, 10 mins walk to the minster and shops. 2nd stay here and will defo be back. Staff super friendly and more than happy to help you check in and will take any luggage you want to leave while you explore. Room was nicely sized with a big comfy bed and bathroom was decent with a bath, lovely hot water for a shower in the mornings. Corridors and room had a nice fresh smell.

The traffic outside was so noisy, I know due to location it can't be helped but I feel more soundproofing is needed. Also floorboards in our room and others on the same floor were really creaky. Once we'd gone to bed if it wasn't the cars outside it was someone walking across a creaky floorboard. The lifts are pretty small but if its just two people its okay. We've stayed here 3 times now and unfortunately this occasion was the worst experience of all 3. Our bathroom was good but a little cramped and not enough space to put washbags etc.

The hotel was great , convenient to the centre. Staff Amazing,my 2 dogs were well catered for . The ladies at breakfast were lovely, breakfast was good every thing you could want . Our dog friendly room Amazing, normally dog friendly rooms are basic and not nice ours was clean bright comfortable roomy ,it didn't seem like a dog friendly room it's what I would expect to have without the dogs . Two clean dog beds and 3 bowls in the room for them .bathroom was good very clean . I was a bit worried because of all the bad reviews. Our stay was 10/10 Thank you to all staff . definitely will return.
