We received a brilliant, friendly, welcome from Danny, the host. He was a mine of information on York. Thank you Danny. This guest house is situated in a very quiet area of the city, but within an easy, level, walk to the centre of York. One of the main stops of the hop-on, hop-off city tour bus is just a few minutes walk down towards the city centre. ( Book this tour bus through Booking.com for a discount ). This guest house serves excellent breakfasts, including home baked bread ( as baked by the Romans). Car parking is so simple because Danny has many free parking bays reserved, near to the establishment.

The only thing that we did not like was that we only had two nights staying in York. We needed more - but. we will return to St. Raphael.

Friendly staff, parking available nearby, fairly close to city centre. Good breakfast with fresh bread. Super powerful shower.

We were told we needed to go down for breakfast at 8.15 (service was 8.15-9.30) as all rooms were booked to spread service out. We like a later breakfast and would have liked it if guests could be asked if they had a preference. When we went down it looked like nearly all the other guests had also gone down early as all tables were full so we could easily of gone down later. Also another guest kept coming down to breakfast barefoot. Not exactly the B&Bs fault but not what I want to see when eating my breakfast and surely a H&S risk with hot food and drinks around.

A lovely guest house with a really excellent breakfast which includes a choice of homemade local recipe breads which are delicious. The whitish one which is made with olive oil and honey, sorry I can't remember it's name, was absolutely marvellous and pretty filling.

The parking wasn't all that near as the closest three were busy and that left me a bit concerned about our car but it was fine as it is a nice area. The shower has to be used with caution as it was too easy to accidentally knock the temperature adjustment lever and almost scold yourself. On our last day we had to leave early as we had to get back not too late and we had an 8 hour drive so we asked for a cold breakfast that we could take with us and this proved to be a bit meagre, a yoghurt, 2 apples 2 small oranges and 2 small packs of biscuits, - could have been a lot better with a sandwich included.

The breakfast was fantastic with freshly baked bread! Room was clean, bright and airy. Bead was comfortable and plenty of storage space. Parking for free, but make sure you give your car details in so the permit can be placed for you. Friendly and helpful staff. Shampoo and shower gel and towels provided. Lots of local information in the room information booklet with recommendations of activities and food locally. Leaflets in the entryway to give you some ideas of what's around! Great location with a short walk to the city centre.

Missing a hash brown option at breakfast.

Good location, 5 minutes walk into the centre. Staff both over the phone helping in the days run up to the stay to the ladies we met at the guest house on our stay all fabulous really jolly and helpful. We stayed in the Ebor suite at the back with its own parking space. The lounge room was lovely and big seperate bathroom and bedroom, bed was comfy. The rooms had everything we needed and a key safe so we didn't have to worry about taking out the keys. And Oh my the breakfast was gorgeous. It was a really affordable stay wasn't fancy but we will definatly be back 110%

Nothing but we do prefere king size beds ...just a preference the bed was comfy

Went on the 21.06 for my daughters birthday. The Ebor suite we had was amazing with our own little courtyard. The room was spacious, cozy and exceptionally clean. The host was so helpful like our own personal tour guide. Breakfast was fantastic had eggs benedict perfect and lots of continental choice😋 the bed was comfy, the room was well equipped even had iron and ironing board. It was red hot on our arrival but the fan was left on for us so nice and cool. On the whole fantastic stay can't wait to go back👍👍

The room and Guest House was fabulous! Location was just a 10minute walk away from York Minister Church as we prefer a location away from the noise and hustle of the City when we are away from home. We enjoyed the view from the room we had- so many trees and birds! Breakfast just missed out on full marks as I am an expert on cooking Bacon, and mine was too dry! Not sure if it was grilled or not, or it could be the source? I buy mine from Waitrose or the CoOp and look for a 'marbled texture'and not just any old pack- as I said I am a Bacon cooking expert!

Reception when arriving was very welcoming, Danny was more than helpful and everything was explained in a friendly pleasant manner. The room was fine with tea/coffee facilities and bottled water. The bathroom was a little small but made up for it with a great powerful shower. Car parking was a bonus and very close to the guest house. Location was great with only a five minute walk to the minster.

If you have to think about this question then your looking for faults, everything was great 👌

Everything. Everything is planned until small details. One of my top 5 stays in England. Room had extensive cord, so you have plenty of sockets! Very cozy. Brekfast included and it was very good breakfast, cold and hot. Dining area was bit small but very cozy. Staff super friendly. 5-10min walk to the York Minster. Included on street parking. Heating was very good, very soft carpets, very clean.

The only thing if you are staying for longer- hot water doesn't stay for long in the shower. It was more like warm water and hot only for like 5s. But for couples of nights- everything was perfect. As well, in the dining area, it would look more professional, if girls, who served food, maybe wore some aprons, so you know that they are staff.
