Location. This motel shares Location, view,and nice walkable path with 2 superior neighbor hotels and therefore it improves its old,unremodeleled appeal due to that fact.Also ocean view is good from the 1st or 2nd floor if you are lucky enough to book it and pay a little extra for that option.

Wallpaper is peeling off the wall and it looks like it has been been repaired too many times in the tub room. Some stains on the carpet. If replaced it wood be more pleasant to stay. Also,it would be nice if the restaurant reopened. We liked that restaurant in the past.

The location is perfect. The patio views and the fire pits are great! We love watching the sunset off the deck in the bar. November 3, 2024 the restaurant/bar is closing. In the future we will have to drive somewhere for dinner, so sad!

We visit 3 to 4 times a year, we’ve been doing this for years. We stayed in room 125, not our usual room. The door had large gaps and was hard to close. The weather was good so that wasn’t an issue, but we could hear everything outside in the parking lot. We never leave home without a sound machine, we did find a setting that allowed us to sleep.

What did we like about the Spyglass Inn? Pretty much everything! The view was stunning! High on top of a cliff looking down at the crashing waves of the ocean below. There is easy access if you walk down a little ways to actually get to the beach and the walk was beautiful! And you can just walk out of your room at least from the suites to a little grassy courtyard where they have chairs and a gas firepit. We also ate at the restaurant which was just steps from our door The spy glass inn restaurant and the food was really really good! And the happy hour super good prices amazing! This will be a new favorite of ours! We loved it! There were bunnies in the courtyard and bluebirds. And of course pelicans, cormorants and seagulls flying by and the multiple of other birds like sparrows, finches you name it. This is a gem in a paradise! Also service was fabulous very attentive and accommodating and friendly so we'll be back here again no doubt!❤️🤗 (It was hard to leave)

We got a second floor room with a balcony view of the ocean - it was beautiful. The room is way bigger than typical motel rooms. The check in staff was very helpful recommending a restaurant - Old Juan's Cantina is five miles away or so, but the Mexican food there is fantastic, and this is from a guy who cooks his own and is tough to get a good grade from. The location is very good if you're looking for a peaceful stay - on the far west end away from all the Pismo Beach off-road activity.

Things are a little tired looking; the place has the feel of a cleaned up and well-maintained motel built in 1963. The view makes up for it.

We love the location and serenity of the atmosphere. The view and sounds of the ocean are amazing! We love taking a stroll on the path first thing in the morning and at night, ending with a rest at the fire pits. The little Italian market across the street is great for a quick snack or for great breakfast sandwiches to eat while you enjoy the view from your room.

The beds are too soft and the decor is a little worn. Linens and pillows are great though.

Loved the ocean/shore line view, and really appreciated the fire pit. Also enjoyed the hit tub and pool. The king bed was very good

There was really only one major problem, and that was the crap quality of the hide-a-bed couch that my adult daughter had as a bed (we were three adults, my wife my daughter and me). The hide-a-bed had springs poking in her back and no support. There are a good quality hide a bed mattresses that have been designed in the past ten years, but this hide-a-bed couch was not one of them. It was really bad. If I wanted to get picky, I’d want a saltwater based pool and hot tub (I have a sensitivity to chlorine, but love hot tubs and pools, so I always get burning itchy skin after getting in a chlorine based hot tub, no matter how much I try to wash off the chlorine).

loved the view, the room was wonderful but the grounds were fabulous. So beautiful.

The bed was too uncomfortable, hurt our backs big time. I wanted to stay an extra day cuz I loved it there but the bed was the game changer. I wanted to bring the family for vacation and get 3 rooms but the beds, ummmm and not to mention the price, goes way up in the summer but all the hotels do which is a bummer.

The view and location was exceptional! We especially liked the first floor location with really nice patio/furniture and the fact that we could walk out directly to the lawn and the bluff overlooking the ocean. The room was quite lovely and comfortable with a very nice fireplace which we put to good use. We were curious that the room only had one chair (thought there should have been two) and no table or coffee table by the pull-out sofa. It was great to have access to the fire pit and adirondack chairs which added a nice touch to the outdoor/ocean view grounds...though the fire pit did not work and we reported it to the front desk. The food at the restaurant was also quite good. Staff was wonderful. We plan to return for a longer stay.

There was only one chair in the room and no table or coffee table by the sofa. Also the walkways to the rooms could be cleaner and power-washed to remove the dirt and stains.

The whole place is well-maintained and very clean. The views are beautiful. The pool and jacuzzi are nice if a little small. Our kid loved swimming in the pool for hours. The beds are very comfortable. The parking lot is nice and easy to use. The views from the fire pits are amazing. The staff is friendly. The tide pools just north of the hotel are a highlight and you must visit. Da Palo and Son's grocery store is less than a block walk and a great resource for hotel guests.

It has fire pits A great location No noise from other guests rooms A lot of things to do were within walking distance. The only complaint is that when the guests bells is was smoking marijuana , it seeped into our room upstairs. There were times we had to shut our balcony glass door it was so bad. We didn’t come here to have our patio door closed. We wanted to enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean waves. I’m not blaming the hotel for that. I blame the inconsiderate rude guest.
