Charming boutique hotel on a quiet street just 2 short blocks to the beach and Front St., the Avila “strip”. Lovely Spanish/Mexican decor throughout with little touches here and there that stay consistent with the decor. Spacious rooms with a full kitchen but with settings for only two. Our room had a balcony, gas fireplace, and a spa bathtub. A/C too. The best part: they feed you all day long, all included. Delish REAL croissants and fruit for breakfast, beer with chips and salsa at noon, wine and small plates at happy hour (enough to skip dinner), and three kinds of pie in the evening from 8:00 to 9:00. Don’t miss the ollalieberry pie, a central coast speciality.

My only minor gotcha is the bed. Queen size only and a little soft.

This hotel was recommended to me and I'm glad I booked it. It is in a prime location off the main street. Everything was within walking distance. The hotel itself was a change from the average run of the mill hotel. The extras were a nice treat, from the morning croissants to the lunchtime nachos and the dinnertime pie and ice cream. The only drawback for me was the lack of a toilet seat lid, I ended up using a towel as a cover.

I did not like that there was not a toilet lid. I hope in the future something can be done about this.

Beautiful hotel, amazing friendly staff. We were able to do our laundry in the hotel. There was a basket of complimentary snacks in our room upon arrival. There was even complimentary wine and snacks, which we were able to bring to our room. Everybody was just extremely kind and this was probably the best hotel on our road trip, thank You! :)

There was nothing really, perhaps the only thing was that I would have preferred a room a bit further from the reception, as there was a little loud music playing during the day. But then again, while we could hear it, it wasnt bad, and we didnt have to go far for laundry or the wine and snacks evening. It is definitely not much to worry about :)

This is an exceptional hotel, easy walking distance from a public beach and within just a few blocks of multiple restaurants and cafes. The room was a beautiful suite with a big kitchen and plenty of amenities. Terrific Happy Hour and a very helpful staff. We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed here for two nights over the Cal Poly graduation weekend, which was a special occasion so we were willing to pay the room rate, especially since all the hotels in SLO jack up their rates astronomically for that weekend. But for a regular getaway weekend, this was very pricey even for such a good location. If they have specials during the winter or discounts through Booking.com I'd definitely come again!

We loved the vibe of the hotel. It looks like a Spanish mission with the tile work and fountains. Do not expect full meals here. The hotel is quaint with a small kitchen and seating area. Breakfast consisted of a croissant with butter and jam and orange juice or coffee. Lunch was a charcuterie setup with a variety of wine. Dinnertime was loaded nachos with your choice of an ice cold Pacifico or a bottle of Coca Cola. The room had a complimentary gift basket with treats, and the in room jacuzzi was a hit with the wife. The staff was very nice and attentive. You're 1 block from the beach restaurants, bars, and shopping are mere steps away. Don't forget to write down your experience in the leather bound books that are in the room. Room 204.

That it had to end.

The Spanish Colonial decor is beautiful, the spa tub in the room was relaxing, the bed was comfortable, and it's a block from the beach. Three times a day they have a special guest reception, breakfast croissants, noon snacks, happy hour wine, and even pie with ice cream in the evening. The staff was so accommodating and informative, they even called to find a restaurant with fish tacos (right on the beach and a block up from the hotel).

Really, it was wonderful. A couple of the tiles in the bathroom near the door were broken, but the room was immaculate, so not a concern.

The staff were outstanding...very warm, welcoming, personable, and helpful. They made it easy to extend my stay for an extra day. Location is just two blocks away from a beautiful, secluded beach. Lots of places to eat and drink nearby....And the hotel stay includes four light meals served throughout the day! It was fun to meet and chat with the other guests in the lobby and dining area. On my second day, I discovered that the room included a fridge, microwave, dishes and silverware, so one could also heat/eat store-bought food if desired. Avila Beach is a lovely seaside town with a quiet relaxing atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and flowers growing everywhere. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with Mexican-style murals, sculpture, and wall hangings in the public areas and guest rooms. A real delight. I will be back next year!

There was very little to dislike. The room was generally clean but a couple of things were overlooked during my stay. The weather was quite warm a couple days, and my room and the hallways got a little stuffy. Opening the window and using the fan after sundown really helped.

Avila La Fonda is a true gem on the West Coast. From the moment we arrived to the moment we reluctantly checked out, we were enveloped in a haven of comfort and warm hospitality. The accommodations at Avila La Fonda were fabulous. Our suite was beautifully decorated and the complimentary wine and delicious homemade pie created an inviting and cozy atmosphere that made it difficult to leave. I wholeheartedly recommend this lovely hotel to anyone seeking a memorable and rejuvenating getaway. We only planned for one overnight stay in our 3 week road trip but in hindsight we'd plan to stay longer next time!

We didn't stay long enough! Our 3 week road trip was planned ahead of time and we didn't know until we got there that we'd love its vibe so much. We reluctantly left to make it our next destination on time.

Beautiful property, well appointed. Loved the Spanish mission vibe and decor. Completely my style.

This place is Amazing. From the decor to the staff to the location. Everything was on point. Every little detail, the scheduled hospitality throughout the day was sweet and morning croissants were to die for. Very pet friendly and thoughtful gifts upon departure. This place Rocks

The hotel isn't terribly expensive but feels LUXURIOUS! Our stay was so comfortable and pleasant. We were celebrating a special occasion, and everyone on staff made us feel welcome and well cared for. It was such a beautiful experience!

The room got a little toasty at night but turning on the ceiling fan was a big help.
