San Francisco has some rougher areas (affordable housing and drug crisis, very sad) so we're aware that it's not a hotel's fault if even the 'touristy' areas have rough edges. Citizen M did a great job of providing security that didn't feel militarized and unpleasant for that aspect. The overall facilities were so impressive. Style and substance. Huge, colorful murals, bookshelves with interesting coffee table books, shelves with funky sculptures; it's a feast for the senses. But the staff was helpful and kind, rooms were super efficient (we knew they were small but they were very well appointed!) and the LIGHTING SCHEME WAS EVERYTHING! My husband and I said we probably got the best night's sleep of our lives! Clean as anything, had all amenities you could want, can stream your own shows, comfortable beds. We will DEFINITELY only be using Citizen M whenever we're back in the Bay!

Not so much the hotels problem its just San Francisco's management needs to be flushed into the bay with all the bad decisions they made. Loved and worked in the city for 30 years... best city in the would but needs the reset button pushed

San Francisco has lost its way and everyone has left. Its going to be a minute to ger back on its feet again.

Very modern, fun, hip hotel. Tiny rooms, perfect for one person if traveling solo. It might be okay for a couple that really liked each other but wouldn't accommodate large luggage for one, let alone for two people. I'm a light packer so no issues with me. If you can get the room discounted on special, it's a good value. The location is great and the staff are very nice.

No coffee maker in the rooms or in the lobby. You need to purchase coffee in the morning at the bar. Free coffee is pretty standard at a hotel, so they missed the mark on this one.

Walking distance to buses ( we road bus to/from Presidio, easy walk from/to Amtrak pickup spot, short walk to Embarcadero. Super quiet hotel. Liked the security staff on duty and the entrance and security inside hotel (needed key to access room floors.

I travelled for a conference. To the Moscone Center it is less than 10 min walk. But San Francisco was not the same like it used to be few years ago. Lot's of vacant commercial spaces and so little charm like "in the old days". The stay was fantastic. For a single person travelling the room was big enough. I could have slept anyway in the big the and really comfy bed. I stayed in the 10/12th floor and it was super quiet and the night curtains made it super dim. Breakfast time is already at 6 am which for an European is nice. Quite basic American breakfast buffet but more than I needed indeed. What I liked was everything from check-in to check-out made so easy, no mess, no waiting and a nice person available to hellp me me with both. Quite young but prefessional staff. I was not scared of the surroundings although it is so sad to see the homeless and mentally sick people but they are around all around the city. SF is no any more a shopping city like it used to be. All the good stores have moved miles away. But the hotel worked for me really fine. The space would have been very limited for two people, I guess. Somebody wrote a negative comment about the elevators, but I had no issue with those.

Breakfast is a winner. Central location, quiet rooms. Lobby is great for semi-casual business meetings. The open patio and gym make your business travel easier.

The room may be stuffy. A/C not enough for air circulation. If you can, take a smaller bag.

Clean, modern, great communal facilities, very quiet, great size for a solo traveller

Didn't feel that safe on the street at night due to the number of street sleepers/vagrants

This hotel has a nice vibe, comfortable shared spaces. We did not eat there, but looked like there was a nice option for breakfast. Great location with easy access to Bart and light rail. Looks like it caters to 30-40 yr old crowd.

The room was very small for two people. The bed was pushed up against the window with no outlets on the window side of the bed. I had to climb over my husband to get out of bed in the night. There was one small chair for sitting and little or no room to move about. For one person it would be fine, but would not recommend this room for two people.

The check in process is very easy and modern (if only the personnel was a bit warmer). The room itself is very small but cleverly built. The bed is HUMONGOUS and comfortable. All settings in the room are controlled with table (shutters, TV, lights). I very much enjoyed setting the lights to a fun colour before having a shower. What an experience. :)) The breakfast was amazing and very rich. I was especially please with smoked salmon. Even though for me personally was the stay way more expensive than I am used to, but it was absolutely worth the money and I would consider trying other citizenM location.

During my check-in, the personnel seemed very laconic and not very attentive. But it was very much compensated by the very nice personnel during breakfast
