Impressive room in the premier wing with balcony, slight city view over the pool. Nice modern furniture and spacious layout , cups and glasses a nice touch. Comfy bed and handy fridge too. The pool is small but warm and looks nice , we fit in a short swim early evening when the sun hits it. Bottles of water on arrival ... complimentary fizz for our birthday/ honeymoon stay ✨️ Easy accessible location to all transport, for walking distance I recommend the Little Delhi for curry and Mellis Cafe for on the go sandwhiches in this area with Starbucks to go on the corner. Trader Joes , San Francisco Centre (Panda Express) for snacks/ easy meals and The Melt for burgers. 4 night stay, longest during our trip as we had been all over and was a good place!

Sliding door tough to open on the balcony did not lock. Loud fan on rooftop next to hotel at ear level... not the hotels fault but try and ask for level 6 or lower or a room further along if you want the quiet side/ city view. Some mouldy areas in the shower , the tiles themselves are an odd design choice! Shallow bath but like lots in the US... No water machine in reception although we noticed a water vessel the next day, we located one in the fitness centre, the drinks machine was out of order during our stay. Union Square is what it is to no fault of the hotel, this location worked for us we didnt want to go out after dark, the price was ok for the room especially as we upgraded from queen at the same price..

LOVED the location. The room was so nice and spacious. The staff was kind and safely stored our bags while we went out in the city for the last day. I wouldn't say there's anything super fancy about the hotel and it is an older building but it was very clean and comfortable for our family. The balcony and windows that open were an AWESOME bonus! :) ALSO, I didn't know until after we had arrived that the parking in the garage was only $17 (maybe check ahead as this could have been a special offer for the holiday. We took the train to avoid the typical $65-a-night charge for parking that most hotels in SF offer so we didn't use it but, having this option is nice!

While my kids thought their beds (Queen size) were comfortable and had noticeably plush bedding, the king-size bed my husband and I slept in was extremely hard and uncomfortable, with very thin blankets. I'm not sure why or if our bed was a fluke. I do know my back and hips were in a lot of pain each morning. Maybe I'm just getting old..haha! EVERYTHING else was just perfect and the missing star was solely because of this.

Great location for everything. High end shops right on the doorstep. Trams just around the corner. Bars and restaurants a short walk away.

Bed was very hard. Cleaner came before 8.30am. Our room overlooked an alleyway with leaking drainpipes and walls.

Really enjoyed the room, spacious, very clean with lots of small touches like windows that can be opened, bathtub, lots of light, walk-in closet to leave the luggage and clothes in. The staff was very helpful. Initially we got a room with a connecting door to another room, which was not ideal because of lack of soundproof. Got another room without any issues. Location was great as well, you could literally see Union Square after exiting the hotel :)

Microwave in the room would have been awesome. AC in the room didn't work, but it was not an issue at the time because there was no need to use it.

Superb location in the heart of the city. Excellent public transport options nearby. Staff were friendly, with genuine smiles and were very helpful. Room was a good size. Bed was very comfortable. Our room on 6th floor was very quiet for a central city hotel. And it has an open air heated swimming pool - yes, in the middle of the city!

Some things are getting a little dated eg the room's aircon/ heating system - who would have guessed that to switch it on you need to push the button marked 'Off/Low'? They kindly supplied a portable electric heater. We also borrowed a kettle but when we plugged the two things in together, we blew a fuse. However this was fixed promptly. Really these are minor gripes.

Great location, awesome staff, very spacious rooms. We arrived a few hours early to check in and we easily accommodated. The staff are so awesome here - so friendly and helpful! Manuel at the front desk allowed us to check in early and gave us one of the best rooms for a view of the streets. This hotel is in the perfect location. Just a couple minutes walk to the Muni or BART stations! The newer section in the Premier building is great, plus the easy access to O'Farrell makes it easy to exit and visit all the local stores and restaurants.

Thankfully the weather was cool. Our AC didn't really work at all, so we requested a fan that was brought immediately. The front desk offered to send an engineer to inspect the AC, but we were too tired after a long day to have someone in the room. But if the weather was hot, we definitely would have needed the AC.

The hotel is in an excellent location—just a short walk to Chinatown, the ferry terminal, and other vibrant areas. All major bus, tram, and metro stations are within a block, making it perfectly connected to the rest of the city. The bed and bedding were exceptionally comfortable, and the room was tidy and cleaned daily. Most of the staff were very friendly, polite, and eager to help. I stayed in a room facing the back of the building, away from the street, which was incredibly quiet and peaceful.

I stayed in the historic part of the building, which had a faint, musty smell—not overpowering, but noticeable. My window could only open about 10 cm due to its proximity to a grimy wall, which made it unappealing to open at all. It would’ve been nice to have access to some fresh air. The air conditioner worked well and served as a decent alternative.

Superb location, staff was polite and courteous. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Bathrooms were decent. In the middle of the city but hotel is very quiet which is very relaxing. Cable car is 5 mins and Big bus stop is 2 mins away. 7 eleven grocery is 5/6 mins walking distance. Very happy and impressed with the overall experience. Will surely stay there again :)

All staff members were very friendly and hospitable except Angus, he is not for hotel industry. Looks like he is not trained with basic manners to respond to even greetings and guest queries. When asked any questions his only response is " I don't know" as if i dont care. Should not sit in front desk as it will give a bad impression about the hotel and other good staff members. One suggestion if they can have toilet jet shower it will be very good for Asian travelers. On our first day, as suggested by a staff took a cab referred by him, the cabbie charged us more than double of standard cabs. The meter was rigged and we highlighted to him as well. Suggest take Uber or other known cabs through apps and not book directly with cab driver.

Its our second time here (the last was 20 years ago). It was a great hotel then and it is again this time. It’s so handy to everything and we love the business of the heart of the city. Restaurants are too many to count and the old style diners are a constant. The rooms are large for hotels in this area, ours was on the highest floor and had it on small balcony overlooking the pool. The Handlery has a historic feel and has many hints of its long history. The staff are great.

The hotel is in two parts and on two levels separated by a pool. From the lobby it can be difficult to get a large amount of bags across the hotel from the lobby if you are in the Farrell Street side. Having said that there is an elevator from the hotel parking garage.
