Union Square Plaza Hotel was our first stay on our first trip to USA. There was so much we weren't sure about but the staff were happy to answer all of the MANY questions asked. Our room was comfortable and the bed was used a lot as we worked through the jet lag after the 15 hour flight from Australia. Only a block and a half from Union Square, there were lots of places nearby to get food, drinks and coffee. Lots of coffee. There were also lots of banks in the area to help us sort out our cash needs. And to be clear, we are talking Christmas Eve when I thought everything would be closed. Travel from and to the airport on the BART was cheap and easy. We are flying back home from San Francisco and have already booked our room at The Union Square Plaza Hotel.

A little noisy one night with fireworks celebrating Christmas but I can't really say I didn't like it

We loved several things about our stay here. Most accommodating staff I've ever experienced. Truly went of the way to make us comfortable and welcomed. Location was perfect and the rates could not be beat for the quality and class of the room we stayed in...we got in quite late so when we slept in past our check out alarms , even still.. they were MORE than understanding and accommodated us with a late check out ! I will absolutely be a repeat customer! Check it out it's well worth it ....

Parking was a little far and 40 a night , pricey!

The price. And the staff was very nice and helpful. We liked the way the room looked. It was small and perhaps not up to the most modern standard, but elegantly furnished . we liked the view on the street. And we liked the location. Some people might be concerned because in a few streets nearby there are a homeless people but you can move around avoiding these streets if you feel uncomfortable and hotel is centrally located with public transportation close by. We were very happy

I cant't think on anything particular. We knew from the price that this was not a 5 stars hotel, and for the price we payed we felt everything was great

I loved our stay here. The staff was so pleasant and efficient. Got our room and it was perfect for us two. We had a view of the theatre and I loved to hear the nightlife. Bed was nice and clean. Room was cozy, but perfect for 2. Everything worked fine. I did notice there was no AC, but in San Francisco its so nice, you don't need it. They did provide a fan. Let's talk about location. In all of SF you have an increasing number of people experiencing homelessness. So you see it a lot, all over. This location was a bus ride or short Uber/ Lyft/ Waymo ride from Everything! We took the BART from the airport and it dropped us off close to the hotel. The restaurants around are so good. Definitely try he Thai place next door, and the 24 hour diner across the street. We even caught a production at the theater across the street and it was great. Less than a mile away there is shopping. From Ross to high end stores. The trolley is about a block away and we got to ride that, such a great experience. I'm telling you it is a great price for a perfect location. We will definitely come back here and become regulars. I wish I remembered the gentleman at the front desk's name. He had the long hair.He was so great to talk to , and recommended great spots in the city. This was my first time in the city, and for sure, not my last. Just a wonderful short vacation.

Comfortable hotel just 2 minutes from Union Square. It exceeded my expectations, considering the reasonable price I paid. Great location, clean rooms, good beds, friendly staff, good value. Rooms are somewhat traditional, so don't expect anything super modern. It has more of an early 20th century feel to it, which I personally enjoy. Nevertheless, there's fast WiFi, fridge, TV, good shower etc. available. No parking, no breakfast (recommend the Pinecrest Diner across the street for classic breakfast fare). Just stayed one night, but will be happy to come back anytime!

The location is perfect, a 2 minute walk east to Union Square. It's just far enough away that there are a few reasonably priced restaurants around. The hotel was really quiet, especially for being in the city. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The heat worked very well.

My room didn't air conditioning, and this wasn't disclosed on the listing. I opened the windows and the room had a fan, but it was still warmer in the room than I would have liked (first week of May). The room was very small to the point where there was no good place to open my full-sized suitcase. The closet was ample, but not quite big enough for my suitcase.

Old building but nice. Very central to downtown and good value for money. I had two stays actually and I liked that their prices were still comparitively reasonable compared to everyone else around them when there was a big event in town.

Room was a bit chilly in the evening with only a radiator and no thermostat I can control.

Very good wifi and comfortable bed. Easy to use shower facilities. Can't day much more on that as only spent time in room to sleep. Location of this hotel was excellent and close to trains, trams, trollys and buses

Room was a little warm, could do with a fan at the least. Opening the window meant little flies came in but very little breeze due to the window being opposite another tall building. Dust left over from previous building work, not sure if carpet was cleaned.

Nice room and nice people, would recommend.

We traveled with a car and therefore were looking for a hotel with a parking. On booking.com, it said that this one provided this. But when we got there, we found out we had to pay for the parking an extra 35$ a night. This meant for us, an extra 140$...

Hanzel, the manager of the hotel, was extremely friendly. He took the time to explain everything to me, making me feel at home. The hotel was very clean, located on a well-known street, and I had a wonderful time in San Francisco.
