I liked the possibility to do some event with host in the hostel, there are not to much bathroom but one of them is really big with toilet, blanket for clothes, bath and mirror it’s really convenient. There are also a beautiful lounge with guitar and beautiful decoration. It’s really good ! People are also very nice, there are a good travel communities and good ambiance.

The breakfast is really light and there are not enough place to put your food and securise that. The neighborough is not really safe and there are a lot of noise outside so you can hear that when you sleep but it’s still not to dangerous. I didn’t find a good market around to do my grocery.

I did a lot of comparing, reading reviews and going back and forth with where to stay while in San Francisco. I wanted a central location but also not too close to the ”less safer” areas. The room was small but comfy. The room was a bit humid throughout the day and warm at nights but the phan, that was already in the room, helped a lot. There was also a radiator ready to be used, if needed. The kitchen facilities were great and the breakfast was a nice plus. It is a basic breakfast with bread, eggs and oat müesli, but it gave a good start for the day, especially for someone who needs their breakfast as soon as they get up. Some of the reviews warned about noise coming from the streets and surely, if one is a light sleeper, they might need earplugs (available downstairs). I was actually surprised that it was not as noisy as I imagined. The building itself is very quiet and the noise from the streets was minimal to our room. The location was truly superb. The hostel is very accessible and close to the public transport. It is also at walking distance to pretty much everything. I felt safe in the area and I did not think that it was too close to the ”less safer” areas. There are grocery stores, department stores and shopping possibilities nearby. Cable car runs from a close by station and you’ll walk to Fisherman’s wharf in no time. WiFi worked like a dream. The hostel also takes care of the environment by recycling which is always a great thing. I liked the shower heads showing how much I have used water and how to keep my water usage in control. I truly recommend this hostel for short and long stays. I would most likely stay here again, if I visit San Francisco.

Central location, good amenities, well equipped kitchen, smaller rooms with good storage under bed. Quirky and beautifully furnished lounge area. Plenty of prep space and sitting in kitchen/dining area. It was always staffed in the lobby so it felt secure and welcoming. I stayed in a 4-bed female dorm and it was wonderful as there were not too many occupants. Plenty of space and bed was decently comfortable

Toaster wasn’t working. No freezer. It seemed like there were only 2 showers and 2 toilets per floor (it wasn’t an issue, never had to wait but it was strange for how many rooms there were)

Highly recommended! Staff were amazing. I felt safe during my entire stay here. They have free simple breakfast (toast, coffee, tea, and fruits) which I really love. Kitchen is available if you want to cook. Ice machine and hot water is also available. They have a nice common space on the second floor where you can hang out if you want. There are plenty of nearby cafés, diners, fast-food restaurants, and convenience stores. Location is great as it is a few minutes away from BART Powell St. Overall, we had a pleasant stay here.

Elevator is under maintenance at the time of our stay but still alright.

I liked all the quirky touches to the lounge and the building itself felt really homely and historic and cool. I didn't see the breakfast when I was there but I did have the free coffee. It was definitely central to most things you needed. Beds were comfy too.

the room was okay but there wasn't a lot of space and the girl on the top bunk had so much luggage that I literally couldn't step out of my bed and had to leap across it all. So a bit squashy, although it was good there were lockers in the room. It just felt a bit cramped and dark, plus all the construction noise going late at night and early morning. The location, although central, was a bit dodgy. I didn't feel unsafe but I wouldn't stay at that end of town again unless I needed to be there specifically.

Wonderful staff especially the kind gentleman with pink hair at front desk. Helped answer all my questions. And the location is terrific, 3 min from the cable cars, 5 min to Bart station. Lots of restaurants nearby. The building has secured access and I felt safe. Hot shower, toilet flushes. The private room was much bigger than anticipated. Bed comfortable, clean. Tall windows. Breakfast very basic but sufficient. Basically at this price point in downtown SF, you can't ask for more.

The carpet can use an update but it is not a huge deal as I brought slippers with me. A bit drafty at night but the portal heater is in the room for guests use. It was fine.

Great hostel convenient to BART Powell St Station so easy to take BART (starts running before 6 am) to San Francisco International Airport and also to take BART to Richmond Station to take the Amtrak train to Modesto, CA and other destinations. Also a few minutes walk to Union Square and the cablecar (Hyde Park line which goes to Lombard St, for example). Buy a MUNI pass if going to use more than once. I also took the BART to Victoria Theatre for a show. Staff friendly, luggage storage available for free, and female 4-bed dorm with comfy beds/nice linens and big bathroom/shower/bath.

Good central location, within walking distance of Chinatown etc, good private room. Staff were helpful (if not overly warm) with questions we had around laundry and parking etc

The (temporarily) broken lift was a bit of an inconvenience with our heavy bags upon arrival/departure but didn’t really impacts us. Breakfast was a bit uninspired and there was lots of waste with the disposable plates etc (despite the supposed focus on sustainability). But ultimately it wasn’t a big deal, I’d stay there again given how expensive the alternatives are

This hostel is clean, safe and friendly. There is a cosy international traveller feel and everybody says hello at breakfast. The breakfast is simple but served on time in the communal kitchen, where you can also cook and bring your own extras. You wash your own dishes. There is a "bohemish" lounge room where you can relax if jetlag keeps you awake out of hours. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is staff on the door/reception 24 hours. There is fast reliable internet. The rooms are simple but clean. Showers are warm and toilets clean. As a single female traveller, I felt safe and comfortable. The hostel provided bed linen and towels. When I visited many of the guests were visiting a large professional/academic conference, and there was a mixture of genders and ages, which also included younger holidaymakers. The location is convenient for the Moscone center, SFMOMA, and for catching the classic cable cars, or the vintage streetcars trams to the piers. It is an easy walk from the BART underground Powell Street station which connects directly to the SFO airport.

The hostel is situated in the city centre, and in all city centres, there is some expected level of noise. San Francisco has a big issue with homelessness and drug use and seeing people suffering in the streets in the city centre is a difficult experience. Although I was not feeling in any particular danger, and the people living in the streets seem to not engage with tourists, I did not feel totally safe and comfortable in the city centre. (This is obviously not the fault of the hostel).

Worth for a short holiday. Good location to access public transportations to access touristic landmarks. The staff is nice and room is clean. Small but clean bathroom. Helpful escalator for luggage lifting. Open space for all guests.

The breakfast options were so limited, only bread, jam, butter, apple, and boiled eggs for all days. The bed was sagging and couldn't sleep well. No heater in the room. The room gets noisy early in the morning as very close to the parking building. Not sure if they change the blanket cover.
