So the location is great! Union Square is just down the street, so it’s very touristic and lively. The room was perfect and smelled very clean when I arrived. It wasn’t scary to walk alone in the evenings and there’re plenty good restaurants around for breakfast or dinner or drinks. The staff was very hospitable and friendly, I arrived earlier than check-in time but Juliette was very kind to provide the room for me right away. Prajwal was always there at night when I demagnetized my card every day to open the door for me and have a chat.
I think it was great value for money so I can’t really complain about anything. You might hear people checking out early in the morning or discussing news in the room next to yours, but I won’t say it ruined my stay. The corridors could be a bit less gloomy, but the rooms are spacious and well-lit.

Great location on Geary Street close to Union Square itself; on the 38 bus route, close to the Powell Mason cable car line and Powell Station for BART, F Line streetcars and so many bus routes to link you with SFO airport, the main tourist destinations, sports stadiums, the wider city, and Bay area. Restaurants, theatres and shopping for all budgets are within a very short walk. The staff in both hotel and David's Diner are extremely friendly, helpful and kind. This is an old building, so expect slow response to elevator controls, period features and single glazed windows. There was no a/c but a bedroom ceiling fan was fitted if required. Two queen-size bedded room at the front of the building overlooking the street had plenty of space for adult and teenager sharing. Two wardrobe spaces, an iron, room to store suitcases, drawers and a mirrored makeup table were all useful, along with USB ports on the bedside table to charge mobile devices. The bathroom was functional with powerful shower set over low-rise bath, and perfectly adequate for a city base. Fresh towels were provided and bed linens were changed each day. On the ground floor, David's Diner is an historic diner serving classic breakfast and lunch dishes to the soundtrack of a wonderful 50's songbook.
Those SF period features are probably where creaks start to appear from a customer perspective. Union Square district has its share of evening characters who'll stagger and shout, play boom box music, and tear up the 20mph street like it was a race track once the sun goes down. Single glazed windows don't keep out much of that, nor the usual noises of street life such as garbage collection, emergency sirens and street cleansing in the small hours of the night. The bedroom was surface cleaned daily but there's clear evidence that the whole room hasn't seen a deep clean for a while. This would make a big difference to overall perception.

The staff was very friendly. The room was very clean. They even made my bed while we were gone. It was a very simple, no thrill hotel room and it was small with no AC, but it was so cold in the room that it didn’t matter even during the summer. It was very cold and comfortable in the room. I would definitely book here again and there’s even a very nice restaurant connected to the hotel. Also, there is a heater in the hotel if you get too cold, but I must say if you’re not looking for anything fancy and you just want a nice clean room for a decent price I would totally recommend here. I was able to take the bus to get to where I needed to be for not a lot of money I was visiting from Texas. I must say the weather was so nice there that even without the room having AC iI slept better than I do here in Texas. That was the best night sleep I’ve gotten in a long time.
I can’t really think of anything that could’ve been better for the price. It exceeded my expectations. I was just hoping to get a clean room and I did. I had no idea what to expect from a moderately priced room, and I am happy. I decided to take the chance. I think the main thing I was looking for is just cleanliness for the pricing and the hotel is nice and clean.

I loved everything about the hotel, especially the location and the friendly and helpful staff.
We stayed in a room with two full beds. One of the beds was excellent – clearly, it had a new mattress! The other bed was a bit older and not as comfortable, but it didn’t take away from our overall experience. The hotel itself was fantastic, and we really enjoyed our stay. While we did encounter a small issue with the heating system not working initially, the staff was incredibly helpful. The person at the front desk quickly sent us a portable radiator and two extra blankets, which made everything perfectly comfortable. Despite these minor issues, the hotel exceeded our expectations, and we had a wonderful time!"

It was the best hotel experience ever!! The hotel is so clean, cosy and the staff are super super helpful and are extremely friendly.. Special thanks goes to "Juliet" from the Reception Team .She was so great in every way and she helped me alot with many things. Also, many thanks to" Rony" from the reception team, as well. As for food, I have enjoyed sooo much my daily breakfast at David Deli's restaurant ( the one next door of the hotel).Special thanks also to " Jimmy" from the Restaurant Team. In summary, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone coming to San Francisco!!!! 😊
Nothing. Everything was great!!

We enjoyed our stay at Touchstone in San Francisco. It is SO close to Union Square - but much less expensive. Everything was just as advertised. There are no "frills" here -- but absolutely nothing to complain about. I thought we were 'downgrading' a bit and saving money -- but everything was good quality/clean/etc. All of the people behind the desk were very friendly, helpful, and quick. *I had seen a picture of a room with two twin beds and the room looked VERY small; I was a little concerned that our room with two doubles would be small (and that the pictures looked deceptively not small); being so close to tourist city center - that would be fair to have small rooms; however, our room very a very reasonable size, two closets, a nice little desk and chair; and a decent bathroom. Our room was next to the elevator which concerned me at first - while I did hear the machinery of the elevator a couple times during the night - there was no loud talking, or otherwise people making a lot of noise from the elevator and walking down the hall. It is a small hotel - with its door in between two restaurants, but we found it with no trouble at all. The parking they mention: they have a discount at a parking lot about a block up and half a block down a side street. I still consider $30 a night expensive since I'm already paying for the hotel! -- but it's MUCH cheaper than other hotels or finding a parking lot nearby. They were also friendly and we had no issues.
There was nothing we didn't like. They weren't the fluffiest towels, largest room, or comfiest beds -- but they were good clean towels, a fair sized room, and comfortable beds.

The staff was incredibly friendly and extremely helpful — I felt like they were family with the way they guided me. The room was very comfortable and made for a pleasant stay. The location is convenient, but it's important to exercise caution, as there are homeless individuals and drug activity in the area. It may not feel safe after dark.
Everything is very good about this hotel if you are on a bussiness trip. Take Pawel station to reach the hotel ,not the civic center station.

Great location, room was amazing value for money! We were surrounded by much more expensive hotels so definitely a good area and the room was comfortable, clean, and everything we needed. We were next door to the elevator which was a little loud but it didn't bother us at all.
The elevator shared a wall with us and it was a bit loud but we found it never bothered us when we were sleeping. It wasn't loud enough to wake us up but loud enough for us to hear whenever it was moving.

The location was perfect—right in the heart of San Francisco and close to everything I needed. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff were super friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Would definitely stay here again!
If I had to mention something, the room was a bit smaller than expected, and it would have been lovely to have a coffee or tea option available in the room.

The hotel was pretty well located and easy to access with public transport. The room was clean, spacious and well equipped. We were offered a discount voucher for breakfast nearby, which was a very nice gesture. The staff was friendly. We were allowed to store our baggage on the day of departure.
Some parts of the hotel would deserve a refresh. The lift is extremely slow and doesn’t feel that safe. I have noticed missing smoke detector in our room (not sure there was another one installed)
