The location and vibe of the North Beach area was great. The Hotel itself was very attractive and had character without being old fashioned. The room was bright, spacious and attractive with lovely views of the square and Coit Tower. The bed was comfortable and there were tea and coffee making facilities in reception although nothing in the room. I would definitely recommend

The shower took ages to run warm and this is not a hotel for those who have mobility issues. We were on the first floor but there are no lifts so don't bring heavy baggage. Even ground floor rooms had steps. Other than this no complaints

The room was a good size, clean and well appointed. The location is excellent and close to buses, cable cars, and walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf etc.

The hotel is not manned. You need an active smart phone with the OpenKey App to get access to the hotel AND your room. If your mobile phone is not active/working with the number you used to book, you cannot get in. This problem occurred to several guests during our stay. There is no receptionist/concierge on site to assist or answer questions about the hotel or about local amenities

We absolutely loved the location! Lots of great restaurants nearby and so close to everything a tourist wants to see. The hotel is beautifully kept and even though there are no staff (other than cleaning) on site, the response time for inquiries was good. We will be back.

It would have been nice to have the option of a continental breakfast.

I liked how quaint it was. It felt very comfortable, and the atmosphere was great! I also loved the bathroom. It was not IN my room, and that was a little different than I've had before, but the bathroom was big, and I loved the shampoo and conditioner provided. There was a little basket with all the extras. Including ear plugs! Which is thoughtful since this city is not quiet. I also thought the water in the room was fantastic! It really looks just like the website photos!

It was warmer than I'd like and my fan wouldn't turn on, and the staff couldn't find a new battery for the remote. But that was small dislike. I also didn't like that there wasn't an iron in my room. But they were available when staff was there.

Great location near Washington square park in a cool area. Good size room and bathroom.

No one available on reception. The open key app to open the room. Room Number 1 is on the ground floor next to the road so is quite noisy with people walking past and traffic. Also did not feel secure. The flow of water in the bathroom sink was poor.

Great location, our room was roomy with park and church views. Although there was no 'person' to chat with the communication when needed was pretty good, and we were able to store our luggage, both with our early arrival and when we checked out.

Carpet needs replacing. Never having a live person to talk to was a learning curve along with the keyless entry. A bit intimidating, especially when you aren't a smart phone 'pro'.

The location is perfect for up to a week in San Francisco. All parts of the city easily accessible by public transport, city bikes, or even by foot. Practical self check-in / app solution for the whole stay. Even though the walls are thin and the streets are fairly busy, noise was not an issue at all for us.

The price is beyond what can be justified, but that is true all over San Francisco at the moment. We found an ideal middle point at Washington Square Inn between location, comfort and price.

I loved the room. window blinds were great as it dont get dusty and lights come in and i get great view of the public garden outside. its smacked centre in italy town and walkin distance to china town. so much food available around. i can hear ppl walkin. outside but u in a city and its a small property so all i can say of past guests is live and let live lol.

housekeeping could be more instinctive abt making up room but its fine coz they did it asap upon request.

A nice inn — even w/ no “inn keeper” presence. Phone communications, however, were prompt to tell us how to get in bldg door and room door. Our room (2nd fl, not facing street) was extremely quiet. Hot water/coffee plus fridge use was very nice.

Location and lobby.

The shower turn on nozzle was difficult to turn on and adjust to the right temperature. I think the turn on knob might be on it’s way to being broken as it was too loose. I would check it before your next guest comes.
