I liked being right next to Chinatown and very near Little Italy and was able to visit a few nearby authentic Chinese and Italian shops and restaurants. It was also close to the meeting point of one of the food tours of Little Italy and North Beach, which meets on a street corner. The hotel itself had a good Chinese decor and Chinese staff. This hotel has air-conditioning (some good, old San Francisco hotels don't), and it had its own parking garage. There was a wonderful Little Italy delicatessen (visited by the food tour also) nearby and several nearby banks, next door and up the hill. The two biggest banks have guards at their ATMs. The hotel is at the crossroads of 3 major streets, but it's not particularly noisy. The area was relatively safe when I was there in May. I think this hotel has a lot going for it and could do with more publicity.

The door to the hotel has to be buzzed open, but this isn't a big problem as the front desk has a view of the front door. I personally, think the hotel should get a better-looking sign although the old one isn't bad.

I always stay at SW hotel. I find it comfortable, clean and very friendly. Most of all I feel safe. I travel alone, I’m an older woman and the personal touch is priceless. The staff knows who I am. Not just anyone can walk in and pass the desk. If the staff member on duty does not know you, they will stop you and inquire if you are a guest. I do not mind this at all.

I would like a microwave. But that is such a little thing compared to all else it barely shows up on the scale. The refrigerator is always quite adequate. Food is so available that a microwave is unnecessary.

This hotel is in a fab location. There were so many options of areas to stay but this is right on the edge of china town and north beach (little Italy) and really walkable to lots of sights such as Fisherman’s wharf, pier 39, Coit tower, union square to name a few. Room was spotless and large, cleaned every day. Great hot shower. One of the best things though is the staff. Special thanks go to Wes and Jen who made us feel so welcome and were incredibly friendly and helpful, with recommendations of places to eat and visit. We would stay here every time we visited, can’t recommend highly enough.

Nothing

Location was central to most of what we wanted to see. Easily walkable and the hotel felt safe and secure. Staff was attentive and room was spotless. We had an interior room and it was surprisingly quiet. Housekeeping was wonderful and replaced our toiletries and towels every day.

Nothing wrong with the hotel, it was perfect. The area can feel a little sketchy on certain streets at night, but the immediate surrounding area was fine. Would've been nice to have a food option at the hotel, but there are so many restaurants nearby. No coffee or tea available in the room or onsite, but a lovely coffee shop a block away.

The hotel is situated adjacent to Chinatown, which makes it a perfect stepping off point to enjoy all that neighborhood has to offer. Additionally, it is a moderate twenty minute stroll to Fisherman's Wharf, another San Francisco landmark. The room is well appointed with (just about) everything you need. The whole property has an understated elegance to it with a distinct Chinese vibe.

The bed was the only real disappointment. It was very hard and uncomfortable. Luckily, we were too tired to complain about it. The room did not have a microwave of coffee maker, which would have been nice.

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect. Right on the border between North Beach, Broadway, and Chinatown. Lots and lots to do all within ten minutes walking distance!

The street noise from Broadway can be overwhelming at times. After one night in a room facing Broadway we asked for and got a room which faced the interior courtyard of the hotel. Be sure to request a room which does not face either Grant Avenue nor Broadway; they are the quietest.

Excellent location at intersection of North Beach and Chinatown, an easy walk to the waterfront, marina and ferry building. Perfect spot also to catch a ride to the GGB and Marin. The staff is minimal but very kind. Rooms dated, but very clean and not cramped. Walk out the door and there are tons of restaurant and cafe options though the area still hasn’t regained its pre-Covid vibrancy.

The facility is clean, rooms are roomy, but very dated and virtually no amenities. It’s just a place to sleep, but it’s comfortable, rooms in the back are very quiet.

Good location on the edge of Chinatown/Little Italy. Comfortable room, good beds, clean baths, nice shower. Front desk had friendly, knowledgeable people that help you with any questions. Jen+Wes were great hosts.

Charge for parking, bogus room taxes. The hotel has a huge room, (for coffee and lounging) that they don't use. Covid ruined this, no free coffee or tea! Covid was 5 years ago, however. No pool.also.

Great location, very quiet and clean hotel inside, such a relief from the hustle and bustle of Chinatown. Very secure hotel. Very close to restaurants and a small grocery store in Chinatown. The room was a good size. It was also way cheaper than most hotels close to the Moscone convention center, it is about a 25 minute walk and the walk is safe (I walk along Kearny st. to 3rd st. to get to the convention center). The elevator goes to the 4th floor quick! The bed is on the firm side but I find it comfortable. Staff is super awesome and friendly.

The walls are very thin and you can clearly hear and understand your next-door neighbor. (I don't mind it because I sleep easy). You can also hear the elevator dings if your room is close to the elevator. Reviews mentioned there was no coffee maker or hot water for beverages, or a microwave, but I don't mind that. Also, don't shower with your bathroom door open because your fire alarm will go off because of the steam lol

We rarely encounter such a friendly staff. Everyone did their work with attention to the details. Fast response to enquiries.The room furnishing met our needs, latest interior design was not our concern. The cleaning staff did an excellent job.

In a room where bed is close to the window, it could be draughty in the night hours.
