Great safe place to stay, location central and cable car stop just outside. Yes it's up a couple of hills but it's San Fran, only 10-15 min walk to Powell St station with multiple transport options including airport train. Extremely clean and tidy room with kitchen facilities, including large fridge and dishwasher. Friendly efficient staff. My room was up one floor of stairs, was still manageable with suitcase and had a small patio which unfortunately couldn't use due to weather. The central heating worked well when it was a bit cold. The price was really reasonable for quality of accommodation and location. I went to a market in Bush St for some groceries, bit expensive but cheaper than eating out. Try Molinari's Deli north of Chinatown for Italian goods, great selection.

Just my personal preference, but I would have liked a firmer pillow and blackout curtains.

Great apartment. We overlooked the road so could watch the cable cars. There was some noise but it was fun to see them. The apartment was dated but it is an old building and we really liked it. Staff were super friendly and it was easy to get everywhere from there.

We stayed for 5days. The location is awesome. The rooms are well equipped and spacious.

The steep incline from Union Square was daunting so we found an alternative. When we had bags to carry we took the train from Union Square/Market Street MUNI Metro Station (T) and got off at Chinatown - Rose Pak Station, just a stop away. Then from there we took bus route 1 and got off next stop uphill. Powell place was just a few secs away downhill from there :). If walking a steep incline multiple times a day is not an issue then there are no downsides to this place.

Great apartment in a central location. The living room and kitchen were a very good size and faced the street, which is fun for people watching and seeing the street car. The bedroom is at the back of the apartment so it is very quiet and you don't hear the street traffic at all. It's a very comfortable apartment, within walking distance to coffee shops and shopping (Saks, Macy's, many designer stores). I stayed only for one night but could easily stay there longer because of the well equipped kitchen. Front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. I also used the valet parking which was great and saved any headache of having to find parking.

The Powell Place is the most tidy and complete apartment we have ever stayed in. Spotless everywhere you look. Kitchen amenities have all required for advanced home cooking. Even small things are well thought of (spare garbage bags, dishwashing detergent, coffee and paper filter, tissues, salt& pepper etc. Staff is extremely friendly, competent and helpful. Awesome positive experience!

The rooms were very comfortable. We were centrally located and the staff/manager of Powell Place was very helpful. In addition, we had an unfortunate experience after the stay where we had a THUG break into our vehicle and rob us. Because the luggage was found, they called Powell Place and the receptionist called us to tell us the luggage was found (even after we had left the property!!) We got our luggage back but not the contents. But if Powell Place had not called us, we would not have retrieved our van keys to get back home when we arrived back in San Antonio. Definitely a place of integrity! Thanks!

Wonderful location in the heart of San Francisco. It's like going back in time. There were no odd smells. Checking in and out was a breeze. Easy to get to Chinatown for dim sum.

I found some hair in the bathroom that must have been missed by the cleaning staff, but wasn't a big deal. The valet parking took longer than expected.

It was in the perfect location for seeing San Francisco. Especially great was having a cable car right outside our door. We had everything we needed including great Kitchen facilities, comfortable bed and really clean bathroom. Staff were very helpful with directions and suggestions.

Perfectly located to explore city’s highlights. We could reach pretty much everything we wanted by just walking. You can watch cable cars from apartment windows, but it was surprisingly quiet at night. Apartment was clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff were always very nice and kind to us. The area around felt safe and clean.

Really close to main places in the city . We used the apartment as two rooms and used the huge sofa bed and kept lit out as a bed for the two nights . Plenty of seating and a table with chairs if needed

The only thing which is small that we had to go thru the bedroom to use the bathroom
