Enjoyed the location of it, right near the streetcar stop. It also has good walking access to the usual tourist spots like Chinatown and Union Square is right down the hill (a very steep one though so be prepared). Plus, I did not notice it in the booking but the room was well equipped for longer stay. It had a big fridge, microwave and stove IIRC? Handy for longer stays. Plus, the staff were quite nice and friendly. After my long flight, I was happy to know they can accommodate an early check in for me.

The place is on the older/dated side and it shows on the appliance and the room. There was also the key surrender thing, just not used to it but they give a key with a hefty key holder to ensure it gets surrendered every time I got out. Definitely not something I was used (key surrender) but hey, there is staff in the desk 24/7 so also not a big problem to me.

Great safe place to stay, location central and cable car stop just outside. Yes it's up a couple of hills but it's San Fran, only 10-15 min walk to Powell St station with multiple transport options including airport train. Extremely clean and tidy room with kitchen facilities, including large fridge and dishwasher. Friendly efficient staff. My room was up one floor of stairs, was still manageable with suitcase and had a small patio which unfortunately couldn't use due to weather. The central heating worked well when it was a bit cold. The price was really reasonable for quality of accommodation and location. I went to a market in Bush St for some groceries, bit expensive but cheaper than eating out. Try Molinari's Deli north of Chinatown for Italian goods, great selection.

Just my personal preference, but I would have liked a firmer pillow and blackout curtains.

The pleasant and helpful staff: The 24/7 doorman: access to the premises was via a security buzzer via the doorman. Walking distance to most activities: and the cable car right out the front door. The rooms were very well appointed and quiet 🤫.

The only negative was that there was no washing machine in the apartment. But the was a laundry about a 10 minute walk away.

The building was beautifully appointed with vintage furniture and felt like a home. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. The location was perfect for walking around San Francisco (as long as you can walk up/down hills!), but it was also close to transit options. Tram stop was right outside the building!

Location was really central and using the tram was extra easy to go around. The bathroom was freshly renovated and had an extra clean feel of it which we liked the most.

Little outdated interior and no fresh air in the room even with the windows open. Also for the two days we were staying, there was a sewer smell in the lobby of the hotel- but not the room.

Great apartment. We overlooked the road so could watch the cable cars. There was some noise but it was fun to see them. The apartment was dated but it is an old building and we really liked it. Staff were super friendly and it was easy to get everywhere from there.

We stayed for 5days. The location is awesome. The rooms are well equipped and spacious.

The steep incline from Union Square was daunting so we found an alternative. When we had bags to carry we took the train from Union Square/Market Street MUNI Metro Station (T) and got off at Chinatown - Rose Pak Station, just a stop away. Then from there we took bus route 1 and got off next stop uphill. Powell place was just a few secs away downhill from there :). If walking a steep incline multiple times a day is not an issue then there are no downsides to this place.

The Powell Place is the most tidy and complete apartment we have ever stayed in. Spotless everywhere you look. Kitchen amenities have all required for advanced home cooking. Even small things are well thought of (spare garbage bags, dishwashing detergent, coffee and paper filter, tissues, salt& pepper etc. Staff is extremely friendly, competent and helpful. Awesome positive experience!

Front desk open 24 hours, staff very helpful. Location was perfect! Right at the top of California street and a close walk to union square, Chinatown, Nob Hill/Russian hill and North beach. Kitchen facilities were perfect for what I wanted and outside space was lovely.

Great apartment in a central location. The living room and kitchen were a very good size and faced the street, which is fun for people watching and seeing the street car. The bedroom is at the back of the apartment so it is very quiet and you don't hear the street traffic at all. It's a very comfortable apartment, within walking distance to coffee shops and shopping (Saks, Macy's, many designer stores). I stayed only for one night but could easily stay there longer because of the well equipped kitchen. Front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. I also used the valet parking which was great and saved any headache of having to find parking.
